  1. Thanks again, yes rather disappointing, I can't see how Pam111 could refuse to take it back and fix it since its new, but the whole hassle of shipping and waiting is annoying.

I don't know a local watchsmith who works on reps I could take it to and it seems like you don't think it's worth servicing it anyway, you'd just put in a better movement ?

By the way I've put a picture of the watch below and I'm not sure Cousins ST18 would fit the date part ? I googled ST26 but I'm not seeing for sure it's the 2892-2 ?

    W3720-2.jpgo

  2. ST26 is the name of the Asian 2892-2 copy ?

Thanks for your comments. It doesn't seem to be a power reserve problem because one small tap and it starts ticking again for X minutes, seems to be longer each time I tap it! Maybe some lubing issue or something rubbing? The fact that the seconds stop when the rotor is made to spun fast seems fishy too ?

I suppose I'm going to be out of pocket again on the return costs :-( After having to send back 4 watches (one was the wrong model) to watcheden a couple of weeks ago and now this, I'm beginning to think you're better off getting a second hand rep from a member here!

  3. Just got the the Vacheron Constantin Rep I ordered from PAM11, the ASIA 2892 FOR MAN PATRIMONY ROSE GOLD SILVER (link to add on RWG) with an Automatic Asia 2892-2 and for some reason it stops after a couple of minutes, about 5. I sent him an email about that problem but haven't heard back yet.

At first I hadn't wound it, as I never do it with automatic movements, just shaken it a bit to get the rotor moving. Thinking it maybe needed some help I wound it and now it runs longer, between 30 and 50 minutes for my new tries, but ends up stopping again. Probably not much I can do on my end and since its brand new he'll probably ask me to ship it back, but is that a known problem on these movements ?

One thing I noticed right off the bat too is that if I shake it so as to make the rotor turn really fast the seconds briefly stops. Never noticed that on any other automatic watch.

    Thanks for any help !

  4. Thanks, but...Oops, pulled the trigger yesterday with PAM11, oh well...it's not like I'm going to be able to afford the gen anytime soon anyway! Was it a rep of the Patrimony Contemporaine ? I just noticed the rep had AUTOMATIC written whereas the gen doesn't.

Rather OT here, but I was some nice classic Jaeger-Lecoultre watches today, fairly similar to this VC, a bit cheaper too. I was disappointed in the Patek Calatrava 5127 that I saw for the first time, pretty small and too much gold !

  5. I ended up getting the GMT one from Watcheden, unfortunately the band wasn't properly attached to the case and I couldn't fix it so had to send it back. It seemed a tad small, and actually it is, the rep is 39mm and the gen is 41mm or 42mm ! The ceramic isn't really black, more greyish looking, not sure whether the gen's are like that too ?

  6. These Patrimony watches are not bad either:

Thanks a bunch, I saw the Patrimony watches at a show yesterday and they are absolutely superb, timeless watches !

As you say though, the value is in the detail on that type of watch, the hands are bent manually for instance, I doubt the reps are like that.

  7. A word of warning if you decide to remove the band, I just broke the little "teeth" on one side after removing the band to try to wash it. Can't source a blue replacement strap only black, not sure how it will look with the blue dial...

@DemonSlayer - are you looking at getting the MBK 5165 version or the Time4direct (others may have it too) 5167 version?

  8. So where's that PP forum ? ;-)

I concur with all that's been said above, the time4direct version (is that where you got it too ?) of the Aquanaut is indeed very pleasant to wear, more so than my MBK Nautilus that I can't adjust properly to my wrist. It has a screw down crown too, what I read above seemed to imply only the MBK rep had that, maybe I misunderstood.

I have the blue version which is great with jeans, black or brown would work better with a suit. It runs a bit fast so far, about +30s a day, but it may need to settle in as the previous owner didn't wear it much apparently.

Here is a picture I just took :

  9. Thanks for the pics, nice watch. I don't quite get the point of the papers and warranties though for a rep ? ;-)

My second hand blue one just came in, originally from Time4direct on RWI, so it's like the OP's, not an MBK.

Looks very nice, honestly I can't see any difference in finish with my MNK Nautilus, it's a thicker watch though but I suppose the gen is similar.

The rubber band and clasp are convenient, I find the rubber a bit "hard" though.

  10. Very interesting, we really need a PP section !

Back to the Aquanaut, I'm expecting a second hand blue one to come in, originally from Time4direct on RWI, it's 1/4th the price of the MBK but has apparently good quality. Asian 21 of course, not an ETA, but I'm not sure that makes a big difference at the end of the day, my MBK Nautilus gains 15 seconds a day and my Tag Link 21j loses 10 seconds over 7 days!
