Thanks guys, wow that Grand Carrera Calibre 8 RS GMT is a beaut and GMT is probably more useful than a chrono in our "Global" world ;-) There is a blue version with a SS band but I prefer leather straps now for some reason.
I see you have it in your sig, has it been well repped?
-
Seeing as Tag watches are more or less reasonable priced, unlike Patek watches for instance, it's not out of the question to think of getting a gen. Which one would you guys get ? The Monaco is something of course...blue one ? ;-)
-
Can't agree with you about not being impressed with the real Monaco....
Buy the rep and you will end up owning the real thing!!
TimeShare
I'm looking into getting a real Monaco too and you got me worried here for a minute, you do seem to like it?

Yes, too bad the wristband can't be adjusted better, I have a black leather strap on order from a CN "MBW" rep to see if it helps.
-
Cool, we need some pics !

The gen ceramic $ 500/600 is very accurate, the $ 200 no.
You mean in terms of quality of the ceramic or the accuracy of the watch ? Do you have examples of both ? I have only seen the "high grade" at Eurotimez ?
-
Got it thanks !
Apparently some dealers like Eurotimez have "high grade ceramic" versions, wonder if you can see the difference.
-
Thanks for the hint.
Can't see that $140 quartz version ?
I'm seeing the GMT for $202 for the "Swiss Version" with a Japanese movement ? Not sure what that means ! Hard to tell if it's any different from watcheden's $150 version.
-
The solid ceramic versions, of which there are two grades, (if you believe that) are more durable.
How can they be identified ? watcheden have a GMT at RWI for $150 full ceramic, Ruby has the non GMT for $219, Eurotimez has high-grade at $480 for J12 and (I suppose) standard grade of J12 GMT for $190.
As usual with reps you need to do your homework and then some ;-)
-
Been looking at the J12 GMT in black, pretty good looking, about $150 at watcheden (can't see on tjeir site, it's listed in their section at RWI) they say 39mm, gen is supposed to be 42mm I think, yes http://www.lacotedesmontres.com/Chanel-J12...tic-No_6199.htm
Must resist...

That's annoying, which watch in particular ?

Answering myself : found a guide in spanish to open a Nautilus but for a Quartz (?) Gold model : http://www.hablemosderelojes.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1529
Since I can't get that writstband adjusted to my wrist, I'm thinking of swapping it for a leather band, has anyone done that? Any sources for such a wristband ? Maybe buying a CN MBW Rep but the band might not be top quality and still $100+

A deserved "bump" for a great review and a great watch.
Just got a hold of an MBK Nautilus, after dreaming of owning the "real thing" for 10+ years, well it's nice but I'm a tad disappointed, not a big fan of the wristband mostly, its look and also because I'm between links so can't adjust properly, it's either a tad too tight or a tad too loose, no fine tuning like on a Rolex. Imagine paying €17k and finding out you can't adjust it properly, ouch !
So anyway, the Aquanaut wouldn't have that problem and it does look more modern for some reason.
There is a new Aquanaut rep that looks really nice on another forum by a dealer called Time4Direct with an Asian movement and a hard to beat price of $129, but it's more like the 5167A and they got the date window wrong again !
-
Are there good reps of Nautilus models other than the MBW Jumbo ? Haven't seen them discussed much here with a search.Yes. I love the 5712R in RG with Brown leather. It would have been my choice over the 5711. I know for a fact the rep makers produce an exact Brown dial. -
Thanks, doesn't look like I'll have a choice anyway, it's going to have to be a bit loose ;-)
Good news on the time regulationdone by The Zigmeister, impressive, was it off by a lot before that?
Not that it would make any sense for me to do that, but has a "opening up a Nautilus' guide ever been posted ? I just noticed that there were tiny screws in the "ears", I take it the top comes off and that's how the movement gets accessed ?
-
Thanks for the quick reply.
I sent him a PM.
I'd thought of looking up your guide again, but since I doubt I could access the movement on the Nautilus, needs to be extracted from the front, I'd more or less given up!
-
Thanks to demonslayer who parted with his MkI MBW, I'm now part of the "PP MBW Blue Nautilus Club" at last...the wait was worth it! The bad/good thing is that I now no longer dream of owning the gen...
A few things :
1. It runs about 21 seconds fast per day. How are yours running ? Maybe I'm a bit anal but the ETA should be able to do better than that.
2. Has anyone found a good place to have a Nautilus serviced in Paris/France/Europe ? I've heard of The Zigmeister of course, but he's in Canada, so slighly overkill at this point for the 21s/day problem.
3. Doesn't look like it, but is there a way of fine-tuning the wrist size ? I'm between links, with the link out it's a tad too tight, with the link on it's a tad too loose...
-
Pretty new here, and I've heard of The Zigmeister of course, but seeing as he's popular/backlogged/in Canada with customs risks to and from Europe, I was wondering if anyone knew of a watchmaker in Paris/France/Europe who provides similar services ?
I just got an MBW Nautilus that gains about 20 seconds a day and I'm slightly annoyed by that, yes I know...
Thanks for any help !
-
On the fence between this model and the Long Island one, any thoughts ?
-
Is there really a proven difference between a Swiss ETA and an Asian copy ?
@daviemac - thanks for the update, sounds good ! I sent a message to Ruby the other day but apparently she was in the process moving so didn't have internet access, got an auto-reply. Still haven't received my Nautilus, but I got my cheap reps from another member, the Tag Link GMT is pretty nice, here's a pic :
-
Getting started wit reps and got this one from a member, it seems to be a variation ? Here it is at TrustyTime with a different date dial it seems...ah here is mine Johua's site
He had a problem with the rep strap (maybe that screw the OP lost, and I could try supergluing it too as I have it but it seems hard to remove the leather one, even with a tiny screwdrive) so put a leather gen apparently that looks quite nice, unfortunately it reeks of tobacco so I'm trying to source another one or figuring out how to get the smell out.

Just wondering if the watch has come in ?
I should be getting my MBK Nautilus this week as well as a couple of cheaper reps I got second hand here...amazing how much time you start spending when you dig in...
Someone suggested comparing a 7750 and a Quartz version, has that been done somewhere ?

What about the grey dial version, I think I like it better, has it been repped ?
