  1. Hi guys,

So I wanted to re-install the stem into my 1520 but I can't get it to "lock" after screwing the small screw... last couple of times there was no problem but now after carefully placing the stem into position and try to tighthen the screw nothing happens.. when winding I hear a small "click" and then I can continue winding on. the "click" seems to be some sort of release in the movement but since I don't want to ruin my precious 1520 I hope some of the more experienced members can give me some advice?

    Please help me :(

    thank you..

  2. Great watches!

If you're having trouble with the 702 tube, try tapping the hole in the case with the 3.0mm x .35 tap. I've found that running the tap in as far as you can helps.

Since the 702 has no internal splines, you basically have to use a friction fit type of approach to install it. Maybe a broach or a rat tail file could be used to screw it in.

Blue loc-tite on the threads also helps lock it and seal it in place.

Thanks for the tip although I must admit I'm reluctand to tapp a hole in the case, I might just end up using a 703 with high bevels instead.. it's just slightly thicker but I actually like it in combination with the cg's..

some issues I have to resolve; one of those is the 702 tube which is not fitting correctly into the case (there is too much resistance when I try to screw it in and I don't want to break the tube), could somebody give me perhaps some advice as to how to procede? As far as I can tell all the threads look just fine...

apart from that I'm excited about finishing this build :Jumpy:

  4. Hi guys,

I can't seem to remember when I posted some of my 'projects' on the board so it's time for an update :)

I've been trying to improve my skills and I'm slowly climbing the ladder towards franken+ projects (it's been a slow but very fun climb :))

These are a few examples of what I've been building, tweaking and tuning, none are franken builds but nice medium-range projects:

First one is a 5513, specs and modds:

    - Old MBW case, reshaped cg's, gently aged case

    - Gen 703V crown

    - Clark 703 tube

    - Minh Maxi dial, repainted and reworked the indices

    - Unknown T-19

    - ETA-2846

    - Clark hands, aged and repainted

    - Gen faded insert w/ tritium pearl

    - OEM 93150 w/ 580 EL

Next one is a 1665 DRSD thin case, specs and modds:

    - HH case, thinned/shaved inner-rehaut for proper 1665 dial adjustment

    - Gen 703V crown

    - Clark 703 tube

    - Minh aged/brownish DRSD dial, slightly shaved at the edges for a perfect fit, repainted and reworked the indices

    - Unknown T-19

    - ETA-2846

    - Silver datewheel

    - TC hands, slightly aged and repainted

    - Gen faded insert w/ lumi pearl

    - 7836 folded bracelet
