  1. Thanks guys.

What's with this IWC's fetish of having dispropotionate lug width....compared to the watch size.

so you buy their genuine straps and not other easily available aftermarket straps. Strap options for IWC (Ingenieur, Aquatimer) and AP (AP ROO, ROJ etc) are not copius and easy to find... so the owners of genuines may go for the watch company for extra strap options... and make them more money.

  2. I am thinking about getting an IWC 79320 movement from Concepta for a V2 Top Gun but I am afraid hands will need to be modified - am I right? Or is it a straight fitment? Since my hand problems with 16520 I am really afraid of such projects....

Do you think a standard ETA 7750 would swap in similarly?

PS. Concepta: i don't want to step on your toes and stop any sales with that question! Obviously the genuine IWC movement is the thing to have in this watch if you love it :)

  3. I believe hand fitment issues may be a concern if the original rep movement is the high beat A7750; if it's the slow, it should be 1:1 exchange...

The old slower beat Asian 7750 copy had the same hand sizes as ETA 7750, as The Zigmeister stated in his original reviews. The higher beat has never had the same hand sizes (for some unknown reason they changed the sizes) as far as I know. There are newer slower beat Asian 7750 copies which have different hand sizes to ETA 7750 as well, I believe. I think I've seen a The Zigmeister post stating as much. Or perhaps it was someone else.

If you are doing the hand size adjustment yourself, I don't know how it's done. As you're in EU, you can ask Bricciola, who is experienced with that problem. I'm sure The Zigmeister can too, once he's back from holiday :tu:

(edit: hmmmm both Bricciola and The Zigmeister on holiday at the same time.... are they one and the same ? :p)

  4. Chronus.. just make sure your getting what your ordering :)

    Thanks

I always double-check with the dealer beforehand :D

Well, unless it's J, I don't think he likes me!

I have to get out of this rep game :wounded1:

  5. As a heads up

the V1 is being marketed as the more correct version.. and is being sold at a reduced price.. This is not the most accurate version !!

to my knowledge Perfect Clones and Trustywatchguy are the 2 dealers wihth the V2 from the maker of the Carrera ..

so be careful in your selection B)

Check with Joshua or Andrew ~ ... to be sure before ordering..

    L

I thought Angus had this as well?

Coolfire: who did you order yours from, if not J&A?

  6. Well lets see B)

For me the second hand is too short, and the wrong shape and colour at the tip. The main lettering on the dial does not have a flattened area around the font, nor does the flattened area extend around the date window, which is in the wrong position by a mm or so. Of course the date font is wrong. The outer edges of the dial is printed way too thin, including the little ticks and circle marks.....

Not to mention the back of the watch, which has a display back showing the wrong movement.....

    Not very accurate ;)

With the date window slightly out, the genuine movement won't look so good

  7. Very much! Grown fond of ceramics!

Me too! I'm just not sure on this particular watch. Maybe, in the fullness of time, I will ;)

Perhaps a Zidane would be nice, and much more worthwhile with the genuine movement swap as it's a limited edition (I think), but as it's a closed caseback, you can get away with ETA :tu:

Do you have the Ingy 7 days power reserve movements (51113)? If they made a good version of that, that would be a great one "to franken".
