  1. Well I had to get the back off a watch yesterday and I had a quick go but lacking faith that I would manage it without breaking something I gave up very quickly and went off to see a jeweler. Well the first guy I went into tried and said it was cross threaded and that it was trashed. He could do it but would not garantee not damaging the watch!!!!! I decided to leave and went to a proper watch shop instead the guy had a quick shot at it and again failed to get it open. He had a closer look and said its probably just a little bit stiff so he got an Ice cube out stuck it inside a plastic bag and held it against the back of the watch for a min or 2 then tried to open it again and it worked instantly!!! As I said so simple and I think worth mentioning. Sorry if its been done loads of time before!
  2. Cheers guys, Just in the process of getting the glass from Davidsen, then will pm finepics and take it from there.
  3. Hi guys, I really need some help, I came home yesterday and found a huge section from the middle of the glass off my fiddy lying beside the watch. I did have a guy from BT in fixing the phone but I dont think he would have smashed it and I cant see how anyone could actually do that sort of damage so I was wondering if it is just a flaw that can some times happen?:cry::cry::cry::cry: The next thing is how do I get it repaired, having searched the forum I think I need a press to insert the new glass, but how do I remove the old one? Also as another option is there anyone in the UK willing to do this for me as I love the watch and dont want to scratch it! Obviously I will pay! Thanks in advance
  4. no camera but it has to be the all powerful fiddy!!!!
  5. you dont need friends when you can have watches!!! Ever played insane great 4x4 game?
  6. IWC deep one, probably the best ever divers watch and probably has some of the worst fakes!!!!
  7. I have 2 guys sitting here with real rolex gtm masters and when I said I had to wind mine up to start with and again if it stops they both just said if theirs stops they just stick it back on their wrist and away they go so I was just curious if they could wind it a bit like you do with reps?
  8. Hi guys, I am having a discussion with a guy I work with about winding watches. Lots of the replicas say that you should give them a couple of winds before you start wearing them and everytime they stop. Should you do the same with a gen rolex? or any "automatic" watch for that matter (apart from a seiko which is all I could find using the search function) Cheers
  9. Thank you all, and now I am even more confused than ever, I had seem the thread about andrews and do really like it, The cheap one was just a bit of a shock and because it was sooooo cheap I think I was a bit blinded but then thats what you experts are here for. Thanks I will compile a full list and then see which one to buy.
  10. Guys I really want one of these but dont know who I should buy from: I am not interested in who delivers quicker or who replies to my emails etc what I want to know is which one is the best value for money. I know movements are the most important bit but can that be all that there is between these 3? Silix Cost: 49euro's Leather strap and Asian Automatic Movement Andrew Cost: $248 Stainless strap and Swiss ETA 2824-2 Automatic TTK Cost:$245 Stainless strap and Swiss ETA 2836-2 automatic movement Any help would be greatly appreciated Thanks
