  1. Roger - that Diver looks pretty sexy next to the ROO - it has really grown on me as a piece I have to admit. It is to my eyes a far better rep but I wanted a ROO so it's that age old question of go for the best watch or the one that you had your heart set on.

Or go for both of course........

I am assuming that picture is of your watches so which do you wear the most of the two as that's usually a good sign of which you prefer?

If that ROO is a rep I'd love to know from where... the dw spacing is spot on... - a gen - no?

  2. Hey,

Yes, it is possible to swap the dials over but unless you have all of the correct tools, knowledge and a spare set of hands, I would not attempt it. If you know a local watch smith defer to him for sure.

Obtaining the dial will be hard. Ask Andrew (Trusty) but I doubt he'll be able to supply just the dial.

Personally as an Ice Bang fan I wouldn't bother. The V6 numerical dial Ice Bang has a lot of flaws that imho make it an average rep. Where as the version you already have (with batton markers is much better and closer to the gen).

In terms of accuracy you are better saving your money and sticking with the version you have.

(Also, remember that if you swap the numerical dial into the evolution case that you have it will still be matte ceramic and not polished and will therefore be a fantasy model at best...)

Depends what you want. If you want a numerical dial Ice bang as close to the gen as possible try to source a V1 rather than the V6 - it's a much better rep.

    Hope that helps you out?

  3. I agree, and it really bugs me!

Also, anyone thinking of the buying the new V6 Ice bang - on top of the above flaws (excluding dw color) should also think about...

    1) Lack of sausage dial

    2) Incorrect movement

    3) brushed not polished pushers (the gen IB pushers are polished as are the metal 'rods' that hold the case together - V6 is brushed)

    4) Tone/color of the hands looks wrong to me but it may be the lighting...

    5) Ti bezel

The V6 evo models were a leap forward but this new batch do indeed seem to be missing the mark. It will be interesting to see some V1 vs V6 reviews when members start receiving this new batch... I have to agree with the above post though... big step back. Seems (visually) to me that the "V6" are a mix and match of parts some look kinda V1, some look kinda V2 slapped on an evo movement... sort of... lazy if you ask me.

As a hublot rep collector since 07 I have seen and handled most "versions" and I gotta say it takes a lot to beat the original V1's (albeit they required date mods etc)... when the V6 evo models came out I was really pleased with the results and was really eagerly awaiting the V6 numerical Ice bang... But I am really surprised at these 'new' V6's as imho they fall very. very short of the mark and require as much, if not more mods than the V1's did... that being said they are cheaper (well, for the IB anyway)...

Sorry, not for me... I'll wait for the V7 (oh, wait.. we had that... that was all the old V5 cases and some other stuff cluttered together)... okay, the V8 then... or the V6.5 whatever they decide to call it...

    :)

  4. Hey all!

So we know that the Hbb V5 Tungsten bezel will indeed fit onto a V1 but does anyone know if the V5 dial and movement will fit into a V1 case? I'm assuming yes as it's 7750 but not sure if dial is same (my guess is yes)

If anyone can shed some light on this I'd appreciate it

    Thanks

  5. Hey Vladswe, sorry for hopping on your thread but am in a similar position and it makes sense to post here rather than starting a new thread... and my questions may help you with your decision as well :)

Am also about to enter the IWC world and am torn between regular Ingy (42mm) Chrono, AMG chrono and the 7day...

Trawling the thread and researching IWC I have found out so far that...

The current gen ingy's are bigger 45mm - old ones are 42.5mm. New gen chrono is also 45mm 7 day power reserve seems to come in two sizes 42.5 and 45? There is also mission earth ingy at 45mm

    Rep ingy needs AR

Rep ingy has a date wheel 'issue' that can be solved with a lello (hard to get) but some members are working on overlays and or date wheels that may be available soon

Rep chrono is same size as rep ingy 42.5mm but has no date wheel and thus no 'issue' - however dial is not "as good" as regular rep ingy

I'm sure iv'e missed something... but my questions are this...

    1) 42mm rep or 45mm rep? And why is the mission earth rep so cheap? $98 - $138 roughly - assume movement, but is it just not a great rep?

    2) What is the "dial issue" with the chrono (as this seems best bet to me as no need for Date wheel fix)

    3) If I can get a AMG ti rep (full ti) is it a decent rep - sure looks like it to me?

Any help would be greatly appreciated...

    Thanks all

    Have great weekends!!!!!

  6. Hey guys

I'm thinking about getting another Panerai (in addition to my 250) and I see that there are a lot of new 'super reps' being released that are "1:1" etc etc...

I am drawn to the 177 Titanium (http://www.1-pc8838.com/pn177l02-tile-black-asian-6497-superlume-p-9635.html) but I have to admit I know nothing about this piece. I have looked at the gen and it looks like a very good rep to me...

Any expert pam advice that I should consider before pulling the trigger - other, maybe better models, or is this really 1:1?

    Appreciate any guidance

    Thanks

  8. Okay guys I need some serious help and suggestions from fellow Hublot fans on this one...

here lies my Big Bang Stainless steel V1, and as you can see it’s not very well...

    post-18710-0-64133100-1299611997.jpg

    post-18710-0-23340700-1299612013.jpg

It has x 1 threaded screw hole (strap) and x 1 broken chrono pusher...

I have been trying to fix these for weeks now and it’s really pi$%ing me off to be honest!

Regarding the pusher - it’s a small screw cap that has snapped off. I have tried loctite (no good) and araldite (rubbish) - surface area is just far too small...

    So my question is this

“How on earth can I re-connect the chrono pusher cap?

The screw hole I can deal with (loctite etc)

I have tried to get a new chrono pusher - no luck and the dealers want $300 + for a V1 case (It would be better to buy a V1 lite and strip it down)

I guess ideally I need a new V1 case, or at least the mid section, complete with chrono pushers...

Would a V2 chrono pusher fit, would a quartz chrono pusher fit?

Basically I’m just looking for some suggestions... anyone got any?

Alternatively, if anyone out there has these parts handy PM me please!!!!!

    Thanks for looking

  9. Towards the end of last year a few of us were discussing Hublot Gummy straps and there was talk of having them made. Veyron was having a go as was Jacob @ jacobstraps...

    Then it all went quite...

Anyone have any news? How did it all pan out... did it pan out?

If anyone knows the current state of the straps I'd love to know as, like many, I am itching to get my hands on one...

    Thanks all

  10. So I am at the airport, just about to get on a flight to Florida and my big bang dies! In all fairness it hasn't been serviced since I got it last year so I am guessing it just needs some "loving" and maybe a bit if oil?

Anyone know of a friendly watchsmith in the Orlando or ft laurdeedale area that may be able to sort it while I am in the area?

If so please let me know!

    Thanks all

  11. Very useful information, I have read mixed comments about the ice bang bezels but the darkened steel version was reviewed quite well while the Ti wasn't much to be found about. The cheaper V1's probably have the same titanium bezel you're reviewing so that kind of pushes me over the edge getting the v1 ice:) I've asked jos as well about the tungsten and he made it very clear that different manufactured bezels won't be interchangable bah, still I hope someone can do the first experiments very soon or maybe if current V5+V1 owners can try it with theirs. My last question would be if anyone have found a dealer that can provide the cheap V1's with V2 rotors?

That would be a good idea? Maybe Josh could supply one? I know he can supply steel case backs...

  12. Going back to the 'new' tungsten bezels for a moment (and with reference to the V1's)

A few months ago I scratched my V1 "darkened steel" bezel and they are not available from any factory as a stand alone item, so I shopped around for ages for a replacement. Eventually I settled (on the advice of another member) on the new titanium bezel. I was worried at first because the old titanium bezels were a nightmare but the new ones are brilliant!

Obviously I have been trying to get my hands on a tungsten one but Josh won't, or more so, probably can't sell them separately, which is fair enough.

For reference however I have been looking at the titanium bezels vs the gens on line and here are some comparison shots for you...

(To those of you launching into a V1 ice bang I would implore you to get a spare new titanium bezel as your dark steel one will, one day, scratch rather badly. The good news however is that you can sand it down and then you have a steel bezel with teeth that you can slap on a steel Big bang! Win:win)

    Okay, pics...

(Ice bang V1. Originally from Chris at Eurotimez, mods = TX crystal, steel clasp screws, new titanium bezel, on a Veyron strap (waiting for date wheel change and rotor mods in the new year - Franciso's a busy man)

And... Ice bang (gen) with ceramic caseback...

    post-18710-0-49813700-1293475079.jpg

    V1 case back (un modded)

    post-18710-0-70332100-1293475122.jpg

IMHO, the titanium bezel is pretty close and much harder wearing than the darkened steel... maybe it's not so bad that we can't get the tungsten bezels after all, and at the V1 prices now (i paid $700) it may be the better option to go the V1 route and mod?

    Cheers

  13. Thanks for the update. There are so many BB versions now and upgrades available it is mind boggling. I assume the gen Ice Bang uses tungsten on the bezel and indices? Is that the case on the caseback as well or is that supposed to be titanium?

Can't wait to see this one on someone's wrist. It will be interesting to see whether gen parts actually fit. There is definitely a continuing trend toward making the initial rep more accurate but sacrificing gen part interchangeability. This may be another example. Of course their mission is to make it as accurate as possible rather than ensuring that gen parts actually fit. It never ceases to amaze me how the dealers and manufacturers have been upping their game over the last 8-12 months.

Yes, both the ice bang and the ice bang evolution use tungsten on their bezels now. The case back on the Ice bang evolution is also in tungsten. The rep that Josh is offering looks very good, but for comparison here are some gen pics to help you guys make your minds up...
