thanks so much for the excellent review - i've been waiting for such a nice write up!
definitely an underrated one.
but is the case size 1:1 compared to the gen?
i remember making some size comparisons to the gen a while ago and found some discrepancies (size-wise) but i might also be wrong...
and yes i am talking about the jumbo version, not the mbk one.
where did you find the gen strap?

i think this model is off. the rep has a brushed bezel or whatever you call it, but the gen has a polished one.

excellent review, thanks a lot!

hi
thanks for the replies
do you think my friend in germany could get into trouble if he wrote back to DHL and later the customs seize 5 reps?
does anyone know what is the worst that could happen to him?

this is what sellers there do for there benefit to lower the insurance/parcel fees customs and carriers should know this
so in other words, DHL just does not believe what it says on the invoice?
i could just call DHL (so there is no written documents sent to them) and say: everything was correct the way it says on the invoice, it's one watch and its $30.
or should i tell them its 5 watches and worth $150?
the thing is: i do not want to get my friend in germany in trouble. so if i get him to declare the stuff, isn't it like if he would admit that he ordered the stuff? and there would be written proof. and when the customs then open it, he gets into trouble if they find replica watches?
what would be the worst thing that can happen to him?

Declare it "fashion jewelry" - however that translates in to German. (That also translates in to "junk" in English, ) Tell them you paid 50 Euros or so. Then if it gets seized, contact your dealer. Though I am surprised there is no declaration on the parcel by the sender. Try to find out how it was valued by the sender.
My $0.02.
hello chief
that's the thing. DHL faxed my friend a copy of the invoice that was enclosed. it was declared as 1 plastic watch (sample) worth $30.
but dhl circled all these things with pencil....the "$30", the "1 x watch"....the country of origin "china"....
so it was declared. but DHL still came back to the receiver. why is that?
thanks

but the customs have not said they have seized the watches? i have had this in more than one country just take an invoice and or payment slip go down there and speak to them when they open them just tell them i bought them on the internet as far as you know they are watches just watches cheap. i paid the taxes and took the watches they may only want you to pay some taxes dont forget that the customs dont know the value as there wont be an invoice in the package and they know that goods from china are always declared by the sender as a gift or low value, almost all packages go though customs are opened at recieving end when package arrive from outside europe, if you tell them you dident order them they will suspect something and think you are a counterfiet importer and distributor of fake watches. just tell them this is the first time to buy from the internet and you dont know the procedure. i hope you get your watches be calm! europe is one of the biggest importers from china! goodluck
hi!
yes, the watches are with DHL now.
thanks
i still am not sure what to do...sending back would not be an option? and then try again by splitting up and send via registered airmail?
thanks

hello
BIG UPDATE from my friend in germany:
it was not customs that called, it was DHL.
they faxed a bunch of forms to my friend in germany, i think he needs to declare whats in the parcel for VAT.
1 x "avisierung einer importsendung" (DHL form) - i can choose "verzollung", "T1", or "sonstiges"...and more stuff
1 x copy of the sticker on the packet with barcodes and stuff like that (incl. sender address)
1 x commercial invoice (declared as "1 x plastic watch (sample)" with value of $30. there is an address in hong kong, too, from the sender.)
does anyone know what i should do?
thanks

yeah that would the best thing, ask your dealer what to do
are you sure this is a good idea? he may say that he only refunds if they seized and destroyed the watches. but as of now, the watches are not destroyed...

theres no chance for you to get them when you have to open the pack and they see the fake, also when you show them how much you paid for it, you can get it in when you are in holidays somewhere..but you cant import them via mail, thats not allowed... as far as i know. im from germany too. and had also some meetings with customs, once they didnt gave me my alligator strap from hong kong,
as i said, why you have send it direct to you buddy?? did a watch made it to you when shipped from hongkong?
hi, until now, i never had a problem with shipping from GZ to germany. and we are talking quite many parcels. sometimes the dealer shipped em via dubai, often via HK.
but lets stick to the topic and the current situation.
i think the germans will look the gen prices up in the internet and taxes on the gens would be expensive - otherwise they would find out they're fake and confiscate them.
why can't i just say i did not order anything and it goes back to the sender?
my dealer said he would take customs risk - he would not take it to switzerland but to germany. that's why i usually ship to germany. should i get in touch with my dealer and ask him?

they probably know`whatds in it already by laser scan
so what should i do?
-
hello fellow members
today i received a call from the german custom in leipzig (they called) - they want me to declare what's in the parcel, probably to tax it.
now the thing is that there's quite a load of watches in that order (five 7750 chronos from one of trusted dealers). so if i would pay taxes on the gen prices, that would be quite a lot of money.
as my trusted dealer said he would take the customs risk, what should i do so i don't lose my money?
should i just tell them i have not ordered this and it will be returned to the initial sender? i called DHL and they said there is an address in hong kong from the sender.
or what shoud i do?
would be very glad if somone could help me and tell me what to do.
thanks a lot

One has to come to the conclusion that the tourbi does not even come close to the gen tourbi...
i strongly disagree if you are talking about just the tourbillon.
the dial's layout is not accurate, but the tourbillon is.

Two of those photos appear to be of markets in Hong Kong.
The Kowloon and the Mongkok ones. Those are prominent areas in the Hong Kong area (Kowloon is across the bay from Hong Kong Island). I stay in the Renaissance Kowloon when I'm in town.
No, those pics are definitely from the GZ watch market.
They do have the names Kowloon and Mongkok for some weird reason - i know, may be confusing - but they are in GZ.

So heres a question; why arent the really good reps like we have access to available there at the markets? Surely these watches are made in 1000s, so where is the main chunk going to? Random internet buyers? Me think not !
Hi,
the thing is that the watches on the ground level in the displays are crap. The high quality stuff is on the upper floors in offices. This is how it went down in my case: I met my contact at the intersection, took me up the elevator to the 5th floor or so. There she knocked on a door with a certain knocking code and it opened up. Inside was a waiting section and two sofas and a huge display with all kinds of watches. All the high quality stuff we also get from our dealers. But prices were much cheaper. Some people would be shocked. In my case, the dealer's english was really bad but I had an interpreter with me. That bad english probably justifies why her prices were so good - for example: an average A7750 Watch (like a porto chrono or IWC pilot chrono) was $180. There were also two other guys in there waiting to get served, both were from France but didn't know each other. The lady told me she also maintains 3 assembly factories somewhere in the boondocks around guangdong district. I bought some reps there. As her prices were so fantastic, I later tried to order from her, but it's such a pain in the ass, because her english is really bad and she has no paypal, doesn't accept CC and bankwire - strictly western union. As WU fees are ridiculously expensive, it never came to a remote purchase. It's only worth buying from her when you're there. I am in quite good terms with her and whenever I go back there, I want her to show me the assembly factories or other mysteries of the rep business!

http://repgeek.com/showthread.php?t=95461
The clown who posted the original thread begging for ingy datewheel schematics made low-quality inkjet prints on copier paper and is trying to sell them for $25 each on repgeek. Whoever sent him the file, can you just post it here so everyone can print it themselves instead of having to pay that joker $25 for a 2"x2" piece of paper? I'll gladly clean it up and re-size it if needed. Looks like he used the low-resolution file I've attached below, judging from the pictures he posted, but I'm sure there's something better out there.

I have the solid Casablanca and took it to the only AD in the area, and they gave me an appraisal for a genuine!
I think my choices for the most convincing are:
1. Solid 18k Casablanca
2. Pam 196 with Swiss ETA
3. Omega GMT (I have both dials one rep, one gen. I can't tell the two apart, aside from the color)
4. TAG Tiger Woods Professional Golf with the goofy strap closure
what, you took it to an AD? oh my god!! OH MY GOD!!!!!! OH LORD!!!! YOU CANNOT DO THAT!!! OH.....i think I'M FAINTING!!!!
did you really do that??? oh no!!! no! please say it isn't true! please say you are kidding!!!!
you took it to an AD???????? no! omg.
didn't you know you can't do this? did you not read the forum rules????? don't you know you could get killed for doing that? or at least put into prison????

Hi,
i would like to know: did domenico do the AR himself or via chief?
I know he was getting AR from a guy in germany but i think it had a greenish hue instead of a blueish one. Maybe in the meantime he is able to do it in blue?
It would change a lot for european members.
Btw: domi is great! I love his work!

This is in my opinion an italian datewheel.
Dom = domenico = sunday
in switzerland, where ETA (and myself) is from, there are 4 official national languages:
- german (northern switzerland)
- italian (south)
- french (west)

OrenG, i would get the 42mm one from narikaa, it's around $100 or so, has double AR, saphire, and some very minor flaws, best value for money around for any PO.

hi sneed
sorry i have not been around the forum for a while. what kind of rep is this? since when is the rehaut engraving correct so it starts the rolex at minute 45? used to be wrong and start at 44 if i was not mistaken.
also i spotted a yachtmaster on some sellers site with also starting the R of rolexrolexrolex at 45 (= correct) - is it corrected and right on the latest generation of rolex reps?
if yes that would be awesome.
