  1. DD = Dangdong and are now considered the best option.  SH less quality.  Noob is usually poor quality and less compatible with Gen parts.  That is my experience with their 32xx movements anyways.  I'll defer to Freddy333 w/r/t the 4130.

Here is a good comparison of the 3xxx's which I am guessing translates to 41xx to some degree:

  2. Anyone know if there has been similar crack downs with the trusted parts suppliers?  Another end-of-an-era???

-Ruby, site login disabled and “suspect” replacement site— well…seems suspect.

    -MinhQ , unresponsive as well.

    -Yuki retired.

-Phong still up/around from US, but selection is hit or miss and $$$$.

  3. Don't get me wrong, my GEN Rolex collection (5) outshines my Rep's.  But in the "modern" era, its easier these days to live with, and get away with the super reps coming out of VSF, Clean, ZF, PPF, 3KF....   Like you, I can fix the issues, and for those who can't you can pick up a 'backup' VSF for example and still be WAY ahead.

  4. Anyone know when Rolex went from RELIEF/(real)GILT to Printed?  About what year / model?  (Subs, GMTs)

Anyone know of a source of replica/redial vintage dials using the relief vs pad printed gilt?  (PM Me if you don't want to share openly).

    Thanks!

Can anyone help with a roulette datewheel for a dg3804 ?

There are two versions of DG3804 out there.  The majority have "Rolex (1575) Aligned" datewheels.  I built a 1575 with the straight out of the box movement, the font was close enough.

LOL, I see this is a response to 9yrs ago.  About the same time I built a 1675/3804.

  6. Mods, I think this has been asked before, but does the Forum software support a toggle between a LIGHT/DARK Mode.

While "Dark Mode" became all the rage 5yrs ago-- more and more studies are showing it is awful for aging eyes/older folks.  I for one am struggling to read longer posts here with my vision situation.

The researchers put this down to the fact that when we look at a bright background, our pupils constrict and increase acuity while scanning text. When looking at a black background, the opposite effect occurs, and dilated pupils make it harder to focus on the text.

Much appreciated if this feature could be explored.  Toggling to Dark Mode for those reading in bed might be nice, but then again this isn't a 'feed' and should encourage more contributions.  Dark mode encourages consumption, not necessarily contribution  🤔

I can change arbitrary backdrops, but there isn't even a basic white to get the pupils to constrict... -Thanks!

  7. Bumping this old post because I find swaps/parts interchange fascinating

As 1520/30/60/70 calibers and parts become harder to come by and service...  If there is a chance a 3035/3000 caliber could interchange, we could  have GEN Rolex powered vintage models (4 Digit) with a generation bump internally.

In recent months/years I have come across the following:

    1. A 1675/3 with a 3075 - according to the owner "the only thing different was the case-back, essentially a 16570 caseback"
    2. Similar to above, a reference to the LAST 1680's (1680/3) Subs having 3035's.  [So guessing a 1680 with 16800 caseback]

This raises the following questions with 1675, 1680, 1655:

    1. Can we assume the stem heights/alignment are same between rehaut and tube?  (maybe not in an OPD/DJ as automatica states above 🤔)
    2. Can we assume the added millimeter 3035/75 is on the back side auto-winding works?
    3. That the interchange/swap would only require a deeper caseback-- caseback from 16800, or AM-Displayback (which is the same as 16700/16750) + HANDS

    Last question:

    1. What are the hand size difference between 1030 | 15xx | 30xx?

    Rolex Nerds Unite 😄

  8. Somewhere on a hardrive or old Windows XP machine I have tons of stuff I downloaded back in the 00’s.  I’m just too lazy to power it up and sort through it. Like I said, it’s 2024 and I can’t get a solid Google result.

I’m curious what misinformation have you seen?

edit to add, I was looking for 1030/60 movement info, and even the so called “Caliber” repositories have dropped anything older than a 15xx 🤷🏼

  9. With the enshittification of the Internet, I have come to the conclusion that "Searching" or even using "AI" to find quality Vintage Rolex Data has become a chore.

Anyone else tired of the watered down data from Millenary, Bobs Watches, Brodinkee, Fratello.... They clearly got their SEO right, but the data is generally to high level.    Search 6542 Albino and you get trapped in Brodinkee land.

You would think in 2024 there would be a killer online Database of EVERY, Rolex Reference, Rolex Bracelet, Rolex Endlink, Rolex Crystal, . . .   In 2008 you could search Rolex bracelet reference and get 'usable' spreadsheets.  Now you get a $hitty link to Millenary with wrong data.  😠

Try asking an AI about the 6542 and it will conflate the 6543 Milgauss in its answer.

Sorry about the rant/vent... Other than RWG, where do you guys go for quality Rolex Reference Materials these days.  I am specifically interested in "Parts Interchange" data.  Cheers!

Edit to add:  you also can't show up at TRF/VRF asking about Parts Interchange without raising eyebrows or upsetting the purists either.  ;)

  10. Yeah, still here too, but damn I miss the glory days of the late 2000's early 10's.  Rep's have moved to Modern nearly 1:1 needing little to no mods (VSF/Clean/etc.).

I still have a box of MBW, DW/Spinmaster Daytona parts I need to build out...

As I have gotten OLDER, I own Gen's, Rep's, Homage's, Franken Projects. And when it comes to the reps/projects/frankens --- I no longer care about chasing every Correct Detail .  I am too old to care about Called Out over crown guard shape, or some random detail.   If the overall aesthetic is there, the build quality, I wear it and don't look back.  Can it pass the- sitting in a dark bar, or @ the Sushi bar = good enough. 😄

My wife has a saying "Women dress for other women" [men generally don't care, as an attractive woman is attractive regardless the cloths]

I think the Rep/WIS crowd are similar "Rep wears sweat every detail, for other Rep wearers"  LOL.  Keep the frankens coming!

  11. Shipping has slowed down over the years.  This is by design to guarantee you will actually get the watch.  My last Andrew shipment took a full month.  It's in the hands of couriers most likely.  Although I do miss the days of ordering from Andrew on a Monday and having a DHL package on a Saturday. 😞  Those days are gone.

  12. Revisiting this.  Looks like the PW changed from ***999.  I emailed about a week ago, no response.  Even tried 'tumbling' some obvious PW choices.  If anyone has the most recent please DM.  -or to the OP Is Ruby gone?
