  1. Hi all, Anyone familiar with this model or Rep? However, by big question is: I can just pull off a Regular Luminor case (111,029,177) with my wrist size. Does the 1950 case wear bigger or smaller? Pics on 6.8-7" wrist of 1950 case? Thanks in advance.
  2. +1 and hard to tell from the photo but is the "A" in SubmAriner pointy or flat topped like it should be?
  3. Overall this is a great idea, but really is only useful in a high value sale w/insurance. However, you can accomplish the same thing with a red or black sharpie and a photograph of the package prior to turning over to PO. However, in my case, the one major loss I had involving Daytona parts-- the Postal worker ripped a corner of the box and pulled the parts out. I was out of luck. Insurance would be the best bet. I also think, that something like this might also backfire & tip off an untrustworthy Postal worker to the fact that there is actually something of value inside, and they could in theory just steal the whole package. So a modicum of security when paired with insurance, delivery & signature confirmation and photos.
  4. First rule of fight rep club is you do not talk about fight rep club.... at least not in a open thread. Maybe the times have changed, but I always felt posting the above list is like giving the opposing team your playbook. :-|
  5. I have a large piece of black poster board that I will sometimes use to purposely cast an even shadow across the crystal. It is somewhat counter intuitive given you usually want lots of light. Angled just right the black poster board (or heck if you have a large black shirt/towel/etc.) that can even things out. Or in this case, I just kept it backlit and out of any direct light and let the camera to its magic. A little glare to the right, but captures the essence for a wristie.
  6. Speechless and saddend. After a brief hiatus from the forum I returned to see this. :-( I have a workbench of tool's that Alan helped get me setup with. Everytime I use one these tools I will think of him. RIP.
  7. Modern Rolex designs are "plump" not properly proportioned versions of their former self. In a way Rolex has athropomorphosized into a middle aged/aging man. Also, I didn't want to cr4p on the Blue DeepSea thread, but -- putting "Gas Escape" (insert fart joke) on the front of watch and Blue + 80's 'Fresh Prince of BelAire' Green = WTF ... Looks like a Doxa and Seiko had Sex and produced the new Deepsea. --- Just my .02. To each their own.
  8. Awful. Just plain awful. Looks like it came out of a Seiko design studio, or late 90's Tudor design studio. If it were branded Seiko it would be COOL and I would own one. Branded Rolex -- it just doesn't fit. The proportions are all wrong. My .02.
  9. A w e s o m e ! What was your datewheel solution? Ohh, and was the 1675 dial to mitigate the pie-pan of the 6542?
  10. I too went through France with 3 watches. They happend to all be Gen, (Breitling, Ball, Rolex)... and not an issue what so ever. No looks, no questions, no scruntiny. If you look like you can afford them and walk the walk not an issue. If you are 22yrs old with the ~equivilant of $80,000 worth of watches, wearing cloths from Hot Topic or Wal-Mart ------ You might get challenged. You still did not mention if you were truely moving lots of stuff from a household or just doing carry on, simple check bag. There are also ways to incorporate watches into your checked bag that could also go un-noticed...
  11. I have done it a few times. There is really nothing to it if you can get to the 2 screws that retain the entire DW. Sometimes the one screw is slightly obscured by the overlay, but if you use a smaller blade or go in at an angle you should be fine. Reassembly is all about getting in at an angle. I use Rodico to hold things in place, then screw the retainers down. Just jump in. If you can't access the one screw, you will have to remove the overlay.
  12. What level of moving are we talking about here? A suitcase, laptop and new location. -or- Moving furniture, boxes of books, cloths, computers etc? If you are moving lots of stuff, hide them in other things... Use your imagination. If it just you and a suitcase, well that makes it difficult.
  13. Make me an offer. :-D Kidding, this is a keeper... Yuki Case (Generation 1)
  14. As someone with 80+ hours of tatto's, that would make a killer tattoo. I can only hope your guy is good, especially with monochromatic shading, and that you are not to dark skinned so it pops. Depending how big you go, that is at least 6 sessions of ~3 hours each. (done right) Again, not sure your situation, but at the shop I go to that would run you $2,700 + tip(s).
  15. Once you cross the 35/40yr old line and dress/act have a compatible lifestyle nobody looks twice (except maybe REP owners). Over 60, you can be wearing black socks w/sandels, bermuda shorts and a Hanes T-Shirt wearing a $$$,$$$ Patek Phillpe and no one would notice rep/gen or otherwise...
  16. I agree. I have a 7" wrist on a large day, and I have not been able to size the bracelet comfortably. IF THIS IS A 1:1 REP of the REAL GEN BRACELET - This has to be the WORST design in Rolex/Tudor history. The rigidity of the clasp connectors, only 3 micro-adjustment holes simply SUCKS! I contemplated drilling another set of micro-adjutment holes in the clasp, but really, the damn thing is too heavy. I have the above photoed bomber leather & Nato's now. I have to wonder, if the GEN bracelet is as bad-- if that is why they more or less sell most of these with Leather + Nato. Hmmmmmm...... Rolex needs to take a page from Omega and utilize half links near the clasp if they are going to be stingy on micro-adjustments.
  17. 4 quick tells on rep (left): 1.) GMT hand thickness 2.) "9" calendar wheel is not centered 3.) Bezel fonts 4.) Endlinks You would probably fail the "Sushi Bar" test if you sat next to me. That is my yardstick for Rep -vs- Super -vs- Franken -vs Gen spotting... I also have 20/15 vision so that helps. :-)
  18. Buy a $7.00 tube from clark/ofrei. I can't tell from the photo, but did it push into the case, or snap and part is still screwed into the crown. If it snapped, you just need a rat-tail file end of, or ez-out, to extract the broken tube, and chances are you can unscrew the rest of the tube from the crown since it is not under any real tension or again ez-out. I wonder if there is any stem or keyless works damage from the impact or balance spring???
  19. Awesome. My brother just took a job in Alaska. I believe he is in Nome.
