  1. Not unlike what Debaufre is doing...
  2. Used POR-15 for many auto projects in the past. Great stuff, but you would need to top-coat it to prevent UV damage. Probably not worth it on a watch. You would also need to thin it. Just go DLC with Avitt.
  3. Wow, just forwarded this to my wife @ work who is a huge Joshua Bell fan. Thanks for sharing.
  4. Water Sports will require:
  5. Thanks, torrrents sound good. I don't need to see it live, and can stay away from spoilers. Thanks.
  6. Does anyone know of a way to view these races in the US other than Speed Channel? No Speed channel here at my new place. Any online streams come race day?
  7. Working perfect on Firefox 3.0.12 on Mac, PC, and Linux.
  8. "RWG" just takes me to the newer "big margins" default. Nice thing about the Dark Theme is it makes better use of Monitor/Screen real estate.
  9. The same could be said about a Rolex. Mac's are also somewhat of a "fashion statement" not unlike a high end watch. Also, dollar for dollar when you factor in the iLife suite of applications (not like the "Lite" crap versions of software many PC's come with) the total value is there. Heck, the laptops have a unibody all aluminum construction now.
  10. I used to do quite a bit of "Adventure Travel". You really are asking two questions-- Sports/Active and Poor/3rd World. First, understand if you will be in 3rd countries, you probably don't want anything shiny, or of significant value. Although I love Tissot, and Seiko as good choices, I would still reserve those for 2nd World and higher. Even a Sunnto is too BIG and draws a lot of attention. NO GOLD, even faux plating. That said, your best bet, I hate to say, is Casio G, Timex Expedition, "Basic" Swiss Army/Military, or maybe something Russian. Again, if you are talking real 3rd world, keep it low key. There are some areas where tourists on bus trips or in cars will have watches yanked off their wrists while your arm is perched on window ledge whilst stopped in traffic. You may also be faced with a barter situation. So go to Costco and pick up a couple of Casio's and have a few extras in your pack. Also, have 2 Wallets! A faux realistic looking wallet with and old expired ID, and expired Credit Cards, plus cash for all in the open cash transactions, and keep your real stuff squirreled away. Most "bad people" will take the faux and go. They may get some cash, and by the time they notice the Credit Cards are useless, you should be long gone. Second, for Sports and Active stuff, non-3rd world. Good advice above. Sunnto, T-Touch, Seiko. I would however put Tissot on the more fragile side (read some reviews).
  11. I use all "3" -- Win, Mac, Linux. Personally, I prefer a Mac with VMWare Fusion or Boot Camp so that in the event you need "Windows" you can have both OS's, or more, on one machine. You can virtualize any OS on Mac Hardware, but you can't Virtualize Mac OS X on a PC. Your 4yr old Laptop should still run a 'fresh' WinXP install, and Linix with ease.
  12. Head Slick (for the whole head) + Merkur Classic Safety Razor, Straight - #178 - Made In Germany
  13. Scratch that. Looks like the new 200x200 avatar is pushing the margins out. Looks like 800x600(image size) is still best for inline forum images.
  14. For those of you with larger monitors, or looking for something closer to the original rwg.cc skin, "The Dark Side" is the best bet. The new default skin with its wide margins no longer allows 1024x768 images (such as those by Freddy333) to display without the "click here to resize." The Dark Side skin will display 1024x images without the "click here to resize" on monitors set at 1280x and up. Hope this helps. If you don't know how to change the skin, from the main page, scroll to the bottom, and select it via the drop down. Loving it. Great job Admin and team!!!! And the RSS feed appears to be working again!
  15. I would use Chrome as well, but I am too locked into my Firefox add-in's.
  16. Firefox FTW! Friends don't let friends use IE. IE=Internet Exploder.
  17. Fake Boobs = Fake Women ??????? Just trying to apply similar logic... Old story.
  18. Wow, that article nearly put me to sleep. Good points, but, the abuse a watch takes while worn I would say puts greater stresses on it. Think herky-jerky movements like while driving, or bumping into someone in a crowded room. Hell, ever Jog with an automatic, or ride a motorcycle. Also, his argument about the fuzzy logic winders that stop the watch for 1/2 a day possibly upside down, or crown up/down.... So? Over time it averages itself out. Right now, my winder is stopped with the watches crown down. Last night, they were in a normal position. Think of this as pseudo-COSC testing. I think the 'randomness' of my AceTimer fuzzy logic system gives me a good read on the movements accuracy. YMMV,
