  1. Not necessarily your watch, but the concept is the same.
  2. Ken and other sellers, I am curious if you have a vetting process for your buyers. It seems to me that sooner or later, if this sort of thing keeps happening, it is inevitable. Either that, or a a detailed "TERMS" that the buyer must agree to. (It might raise the awareness, and make them think twice). Although there seems to be a lot of bad apples these days, I hope we don't let them spoil the bunch.
  3. If it is any consolation, many independent watchsmiths are using aftermarket hands on gen Rolex's they service. It is sort of a fsck you Rolex reponse based on their restrictive parts policy. The day is approaching when aftermarket hands, crystals, and inserts will NOT be a tell. Rather, it will just be a sign of independent service on an otherwise genuine daily wearer by frugal non WIS owners. I understand the purist attitude though.
  4. Looks fine. Are you looking for a bevel on the bevel edge, like later model service crystals?
  5. Can you post a pic? I have one of the red-pack 116's from him as well, and it is correct.
  6. Welcome. Nice Harley Quinn and Mr. J. avatar. Please take a minute to update your profile. It is nice to know a "general" geographic whereabouts should you start to participate in sales threads, etc. (CONUS, USA, EU, etc) On a side note. This is not necessarily the PMWF (Poor Mans Watch Fourm http://www.pmwf.com) either. Quality Replica's are beginning to average $300, and some of us BUILD our own super frankenstein watches that sometimes total into the thousands of dollars. There is something for everyone's budget however. Enjoy,
  7. This is normal. Search the forum for noisy rotor. There are ways to tone it down, but in general, this is normal but some come with better bearings and it is all luck of the draw.
  8. I tend to wear one, and keep a second in my carry on. (But when going thru security, I tend to throw the one I am wearing in the same carry on - so the x-ray person will see two). Internationally, I would stick with the 2. Just in case you buy a 3rd on your travels. Domestically, I think 3~4 is still safe. You can even make it thru most metal detectors with either leather strapped, or 40mm and smaller watches. I also tend to travel with at least one GEN, that I have legitimate papers for. I will often snap a photo of the paperwork into my cell phone just in case. (Internationally) (edit to add) If you have a nice case for them, dress sharp, and don't look like a shady person, I doubt it matters. I know many women that travel with jewelry pouches in their bag with half a dozen bracelets, necklaces, etc, and never an issue. Acetimer has some nice travel cases: http://www.acetimer.com/Traveling-and-Storage-Case/?page=2 HTH,
  9. Your posts are so inspiring, that the wife and I, and two others did a snow laden 12er last weekend in prep for 14er adventures out here in the Rockies.
  10. I am officially ruling out a "date" movement with downgrade. I am intrigued by the 1520. It has the same type of regulator as an ETA, making for easier regulating and my own servicing. (Although I should probably just buy a microstella tool) Thanks for the compliments on the dial. Still on the look-out for hands! Anyone.
  11. I am a fan. I like the 6:00 subdial, as I find the 12hr counter helpful on airplane trips, and with parking meters.
  12. IF you are using one of the TD's here, and you use PP, and something goes wrong-- PLEASE DO NOT file a dispute and ruin it for the rest of us, without properly giving all parties plenty of time to work toward a resolution in the event of an issue. Otherwise, I would never use a "Debit" card or card linked directly to your bank account. Use a straight up "Credit" card if possible. Using the Credit Card, all foreign currency exchanges will happen magically, and while there may be some fees associated with it, don't worry. Just the cost of doing business so to speak.
  13. Wild, I have had 3 (newer generation) DG3804's come through my hands. Other than highly variable time keeping based on position (clearly these are only regulated in the face down position), I have not experienced any of those issues. 1.) Keyless works. True, a bit sloppy, and when installed in a gen case with all the seals and a hair off center-- sometimes it will hack, sometimes it wont. I have not had any issues removing the stem from either position. In fact, on the "DGs" I tend to remove them from the "Setting Position". While the keyless works leaves room for improvement, it gets the job done. I would not call it fragile however. 2.) I must be lucky here. I have not experienced that. 3.) Common sense on almost all movements. Considering the DG3804's price tag, they make for a great disposable movement that works. I also think the date wheel alignment is superior to a converted 2836+Overlay. Just my .02. Not perfect, but bang for the buck is there.
  14. So, I have this dial on the bench, and a GEN case (converted 1601 to 1016) to go with it... My conundrum.... Should I seek out a non-date movement (1520, 1560, 1570), or is it possible to convert a DATE movement (1575) most likely to a non-date. 1575's are plentiful. I have to wonder about canon size and seconds hand though... Thoughts? Suggestions? Also, I NEED HANDS to match. If anyone can assist me in a set of Mercedes hands for this project please PM me.
  15. Domain Seizures are the dumbest attempt to regulate. It is simply whack-a-mole. At the end of the day, give me an IP address or hosts file if they keep this crap up.
  16. Argh, I hope it is temporary, and I won't need to go back to my project posts to correct with Hi-Res...
  17. Your killing me with the Vintage Bike's... Check this out: http://au.deuscustoms.com/motorcycles/ http://silodrome.com/triumph-t120-custom/
  18. True, but if the US Dollar collapses, I think I would rather have "lead".
  19. So I went to post in the WC, and to my surprise my image, that I have used dozens of times, looked like 5hit. Anyone else having problems? Example: Current Imageshack DOWNGRADED Reposted at imgur - how it used to look at Imageshack... REPOSTED at ImageShack... WTF?
  20. I blame Fox (faux) News, and the idiotic talking heads like Glen Beck. Hell, all the 24hr news networks are good for $hit and have those cheesy Buy Gold ads. Fear, fear, fear... Seriously, IF the shit hit the fan, do you really think that melted down gold pocket watch is going to do you any good. F u c k i n g Jawas.
