  1. I am with Watchmeister, I am not sold. If it is not GEN, it is a SUPER SUPER Franken. The rehaut depth looks a little too deep. Also, I find "newer" watches (from within the last 10years) missing B&P to be another caution flag. Also, the photos are "just good enough, but NOT good enough for careful observation".
  2. I would love to see more pics of how you guys created these, from a fascination, learning perspective. Great work.

    Best jeans

Update for me, below is a list of what is in my Jeans drawer: 3 pair Diesel (my favorite going out in) 3 pair Calvin Klein (my conservative, daily beaters) 2 pair Joe's Jeans (most comfortable "designer" jean) 1 pair Manchester 1 pair Kasil (awesome midnight blue, great with a sport coat)
  4. @LHOOQ They should have called that OYEAH! instead of OKEAH.
  5. I think you have the answer to your root cause of the keyless works problem. Sounds like the wrong stem was used at some point in the 2824. As mentioned the stems are the same for 280x/2824/2836/2846 and probably a few other ETAs.
  6. +1 to what Freddy333 & PeteM said. I did the TZ School, and am totally comfortable doing a complete service on ETA based watches. The TZ toolset + quality Ultrasonic cleaner + timer is all you need to maintain a FLEET of watches.
  7. Thank you so much for posting this. I am in the process of a 112/176 "rebuild/franken" and will make sure this is done correctly.
  8. This comes back to the question "How do you read the forum". By specific Sub-Forum, or by clicking "View New Posts". I use the later, and highly recommend it to regular visitors. It is nice to see what is going on everywhere around here, and at the same time, makes it easy to skip the stuff you don't like, (like AP/Hublot stuff for me). That said, IF someone ever posted in the VIP/Platinum/Bits&Babes you will know it/see it.
  9. Wow is that the ultra rare Yamaha speaker model RWG-111?
  10. Trust your gut. Sell it to who makes you most comfortable at this point in time, and issue a refund and no hard feelings to the other. I would have pinged the first guy after 24 and mentioned your 2nd offer and given him until xx:xx to pay, then moved on. Communication is key.
  11. It also depends on your collection. My Gen Breitling Navi 7753 movement does NOT have a quickset date, nor does my Gen powered 1680 Submariner with 1575 movement. Throw in my CoAxial Omega, 3135GMT Explorer II with psedo quickset date (hour hand spins independent for date, hour jumping) you quickly run into situations where say your watch stopped on the 2nd, and it is now the 30th... On the above watches, the wear and tear on keyless works, gear train, and your fingers is a real PITA. I guess I am also lucky in that many of my watches are COSC, or stay within 5 minutes over a month, that I can usually make it to a 30 day month, and combine my corrections with short month date fix ups. All I am saying is winders have their place, and used intellegently pose no threat to your watch.
  12. This is what I prefer, BUT, any overflow of epoxy could screw stuff up. I use an OLD movement as a Jig, and keep the feet a tad higher, then sinking them flush in the movement. Also, to Freddy333 point, a lot of these adhesives are not good with lateral impacts. However, JB weld has never failed me.
  13. Not entirely true. Starting and stopping on a winder is no worse the wearing your watch to the grocery store, driving a car, or unloading the dishwasher. The only real issue you have is if you are winding them excessively and slipping the mainspring, or keeping the mainspring in a constant limbo state. A non-issue on a 7750 or one way winding rotor, or properly setting TPD. I would contest that the coninual unscrewing of the crown, keyless works, and date changes would put more stress and wear on the watch than 'diligent' winder management.
  14. If Tapatalk were free, maybe I would use it. I just can't justify paying for something that already works for free in the browser on my iPad. Plus, I use my regular computer 80% of the time, so the out of sync new message issue would drive me crazy. (sent from Safari on the iPad.)
  15. Nice, BUT I hate sites that make you register first before even seeing the product(s).
  16. Nice SOXA Frank. Thanks Vly...
  17. My AceTimer is going on 3 years strong... http://www.acetimer.com/Watch-Winders/
  18. I recently spent 3 weeks in Europe (FR, IT, CH(Switzerland). Although I only took 2 Gen's with me, there was never even a glance or second look. I kept the 2nd watch I was not wearing in a man-bag when traveling through the airport. Again, no red flags when I put the watch I was also wearing in the bag to go thru the metal detectors. It was funny, I was in Cannes during the Panerai Regatta, and I saw so many REP's in the South of France it was surprisingly funny. Most notable were the "Quartz Ticking" Navitimer rep, and bad Submariner and GMT reps. Actually, I saw more REPs in the EU than I have in my local metro area. Short answer, unless you have a briefcase or suit case full of reps, it will not be a problem.
  19. $2250 would be better applied to the purchase of a Complete 1675 IMHO. GMT Franken's add up quick and using a GEN 1560/1570(5) based GMT movement makes it almost not worth it. For example, by ALL GEN - EXCEPT the movement 1675 Franken ~would add up to $3600 IF I used the VRF listed movement~ For $400 more I could have GEN/GEN.
