  1. Wow. Dead heat at the moment. If I can just throw this out there... If you are a daily, and for sure, multi-times-a-day visitor here, I would highly encourage using the "View New" option. There is so much cool stuff here I think people are missing in the multitude of forums. Tutorials, GTG's, etc. Now, if you go more than a few days, I can understand skipping to your hardcore interests, as 5+ pages of new posts might be a lot.
  2. Show and Tell will be in full swing. There are others coming J.
  3. Correct, Harold.
  4. In a few hours-- THIS:
  5. Welcome indeed. In no time, you will be building your own watch no doubt. If you have a sense of humor about watch forums, I highly recommend watching this video in this thread:
  6. Received my J&K crystal today myself and LOVE IT. After a couple of bumps and bruises with normal wear, I honestly do not think you will be able to tell the difference. I can see no reason to drop $$$ on the Gen at this point. Another big win for the aftermarket.
  7. You are correct. 19.8 to be exact. 21.6 21Js/or 2846's get you close.
  8. Oddly, I like the Tiffany Dial version the best. Strange since normally, the co-branding is not my thing. The biggest tells for me on these is the font serif on the E in Explorer and on the numbers like the 3. Probably why the Tiffany version made pause and really look. I like the print quality and font.
  9. ... also applies to Sub's/SD's with gen construction. I thought I would try an old trick I learned-- installing cam shaft drive gears on air-cooled bug engine cranks. It worked like a charm! I had this 'experimental' 1655 Homage, that I could not easily repress on the bezel. This tutorial relies on the laws of thermal dynamics. Heat = Expansion, Cold = Contraction. What you will need: A freezer A Coffee or Tea Maker (optional) 30mm 12 point Socket (optional) Plastic wrap, if you need to use above socket. Steps: 1. All you need to do is place the bezel on the Coffee/Tea Maker's heating pad, and throw the watch in the freezer. WE ARE TALKING "MINUTES ONLY". NO MORE THAN 5 minutes. I had great results in 2 minutes. 2. Remove watch head from freezer. 3. With tweezers and heat resistant gloves (I used my Nitrile gloves and and additional layer of finger cots), move bezel carefully over to watch, line up, and install. *be careful if too hot that you don't start to melt plastic crystals* -- in many cases the expansion/contraction will NOT require additional pressing 4. (optional) for stubborn bezels, grab your plastic wrap and 30mm 12pt socket and PRESS. Photos are worth 1000 words: Enjoy, and be careful, HOT stuff.
  10. So much for MBW as the only game in town. How are the lug holes in relation to the end of the case? Often they are too close to outer end of the lug for effective drilling.
  11. If you are up for it, can you pop the bezel and see if it is "really" gen like construction in terms of crystal, retaining ring, tension ring bezel. @$98 if I were a betting man, it is a Silix/Alpha/MQJ style glued crystal with tension wire bezel. (I hope I am wrong!)
  12. Just curious guys. I live by the "View New Posts" / "Mark all posts as Read" options here on the forum. Even if I don't care about Tag's or AP's, it is nice to see the titles of what is being discussed. What really prompted me to post this was Ubi and I's recent GTG thread that is almost 50 posts deep. Many of our local and regular users had no idea that thread existed.
  13. Yes, agreed on the genuine, BUT that 9:00 Subdial, and non-beveled date window and light print on the datewheel look awful IMHO. Funny thing is, I always used the 9:00/6:00 subdial connection as the quick tell. Now knowing Ebel produced non connected subdial dial's like this gives some 'cred' to the rep makers. Wonder if they were looking at the exceptions when they designed the reps.
  14. FYI, we have a couple of others who are coming. So, for those of you who do have other plans on Sat, feel free to pop in, if only for :30 or a quick beer. 2:30 - 5:00 (Private), and possibly longer if the company so dictates.
  15. See pictures here http://cgi.ebay.com/...=item1e5904f592 or From auction: -vs- my Gen Looking at the auction, the "movement photos" are throwing me for a loop...
  16. Thats good news. I have been waiting on a DW shipment since 12/10. Hopefully it will be here tomorrow...
  17. Bump guys, the silence is deafening. Details in cased you missed it: FYI, if we do not get a decent response, we will cancel. Current RSVPs: Ronin +1 Ubiquitous +1 or more JChurch +?
  18. The "Fat Lady" had a 6mm crown. 16760.
  19. The Radial dial is one of my favorites.
  20. One of these:
  21. Scam... The watch in the first pic, is not the same. The crowns are totally different even from that tiny photo. If they 1.) can not produce a photo of the watch on TODAY'S Newspaper from their locale and 2.) be willing to have a local person inspect it on your behalf *(I am sure there are forum members willing to help act as your proxy/middle man). Also, what size were the photos they sent you? Any modern digital camera is going to have much larger resolution and exif data. If they sent you those sized photos they are web rips. Chances are they could not produce the full resolution photos.
  22. Ronin

    Comex

+1 Reported. Have to wonder though could it be someone from one of the forums??? If it is we should hang them!
  23. If you can validate it has a Gen Movement that is working ~good, @ $1700 it might be worth the gamble that it is a mash-up. Looking at that TINY picture the crown and CGs look a little suspect. Still, if gen movement and dial, the price might be right.
