  1. I couldn't edit for some reason... But, mine came in a cheapish case. Just a minute ago the 'crystal' (clear plastic) fell out of it. I have been trying to get it back in so I can put the front of the case back on but not having much luck..
  2. Thanks for all of the awesome info. I just picked up an Elgin pocket watch from 1912 that is pretty much IDENTICAL to this watch. So, I'm assuming this is pretty much a history of my watch as well haha. Thanks! I'll post pics of mine when I get home if anyone is interested.
  3. I was trying to push the stopper so I could let it unwind but it doesn't seem to ever get out of the way enough. Just by looking at it, can you see how I might go about releasing the main spring's tension?
  4. Thanks for the reply. Do I need to make sure it's wound a certain amount of times or how does that work?
  5. Is it as simple as just attaching the hairspring to that piece again and just putting that piece back on that cylinder and then just regulate it? Or am I pretty much screwed in that spot for now?
  6. New, more awful problem... Now, keep in mind, I paid $5 for this pocket watch so it's not worth taking to a repair shop. I'd LIKE to fix it myself if at all possible.. It was probably more possible before this.. Don't push on the regulating levers.. Edit before submit.. It's even worse now.. the little piece that is sticking up in this picture just came completely off... Is there any saving it?
  7. I bought a pocket watch (knowing it was broken) because I want to be able to fix it. The movement is an EB 8800. It seems to be overwound (I know this isn't really the problem but it won't wind anymore and it's not moving. I know it's probably gummed up.. What I'm looking for, I'd like to see if any of you know how to remove the pin from it so I can take the movement out without breaking the watch. I'd like to start looking in to why it's stuck up but I can't if it's still in the case. I know it's vague but I'm TRYING to include pictures.. I don't have time to get my good cam out so I am trying to use my 10x loupe to take pics with my cell phone... They look ok but... Eh... But anyone have any idea? Thanks, Alex!
  8. .. That seems a little too forward considering he sells mid range that would be like 'hey it's so obvious you have reps I'm going to disregard the fact that you only have visible midrange and accuse you of selling reps either way!'
  9. You all know the place, you walk in there's a few foreigners behind the counter discount tags on everything and just cases and cases of watches of brands like seiko and invicta(sp?) And all of the mid range. My question is, what's the best way to tell if this guy has reps without straight out asking him? I'm goin to a shop later like this and it seems like the perfect candidate and I'd just assume it was if I was anywhere but in the US. So yea, how can I figure out if he sells reps? Thanks guys, Alex
  10. New addition I can see this being on my wrist for a while :-)
  11. Silix has like the exact watch I posted but I'm so nervous about paying 110USD for something from him... I've heard such bad things and I really don't feel comfortable ordering from him especially since it doesn't even say what movement or anything is in it lol...
  12. These look awesome pho... I'd love to get into this and don't know where to start... In searching all I could find was how to do it on a lathe and I don't really have one of those accessible to me lol... Do you use a lathe or do you do it with knives and stuff?
  13. Sorry to hear about your troubles josh and don't let him get to you. As everyone else has said if he comes to any of the forums piping off about you I'll be the first one to slam him down. Good luck and I hope in the end he stops being an a-hole and lets things happen as they happen.
  14. lol Thanks for the help guys and the dialog _brian_ haha I'll be looking I'm liking this one the only problem is they have quartz movements I mean I don't hate them they just seem so cheap after finding out auto movements exist lol... http://www.watcheden.com/movado-classic-tw...--21952--1.html I'm also a bit leary about ordering from silix as I've heard bad things... I see they're on watch eden too so I may just go with that but the one on silix's site is like the exact one I want while the ones on [we] all seem to be a little different. I mean yes I could just order a bracelet and get this one: http://www.watcheden.com/movado-classic-ce...--25447--1.html but I don't know.... lol
