that looks like the V3 DSSD.... most ppl think that's the best version around.. even though there has been a V4 and a V5.. V5's are flakey in the quality...some get great ones and some get really bad ones. I'd suggest getting a V3 and doing the bezel paint mod.. do a quick search of V3 Mod or DSSD Mods and you'll find many. Also, you should also check the sales thread, maybe ppl are trying to sell their V3's and post it in WTB section... goodlucK!

i'd also suggest... MAYBE its not a good idea to give him an expensive first dive watch... you never know, it could get stolen, or a group of ppl could jump him for the watch.. i dunno. So, i'd rather be safe and get hi a really nice seiko.... and wait for the swiss army after he finishes dive school or on his 14 or 15 birthday..

welll....you could get gen parts for ur po... wait im not sure if they work for a 42mm PO, i know for sure the UPO can be interchanged with gen parts.. for the UPO gen parts that can be interchanged include (as far as i know) : bezel, dial, hands, he valve, crown (and tube). to give you an idea, these are the prices for UPO parts : dial 223$, hands (both hr and minute) about 60$, crown/tube (must buy them together) 20$.. i dont know bout the he valve and bezel... EDIT: i know you can source a gen CRYSTAL for about 170$... btw all these are from offrei as far as i can see...the best option is to get gen crown/tube and double AR.. and if you're that worried about the logo...getting a silix dial (you have to buy the whole dial unfortunately..) and taking the logo from silix and putting it on yours.. other than that....its really good..
