  1. Sorry, man. But, with the reputation you've managed to muscle on here, I just had to show that you were wrong (heck, we both were wrong!)...so I posted the PM'ed messages. I just wanted to put the record straight. That's all.

Donate the bracelet. Jee/Silix is sending me a superb example of one...(as well as a IWC 3717 v1.0).

Well dems.. Gatchaman can [censored] off for all I care.. to share personal pm's on the board is going way over the line..

I have all 3 bracelets... I did order and pay out of pocket for a Yuki's riveted with the clasp that he scanned and sent.. sorry this is no longer about being a supporter....you'll get your 30 usd back a "free" VIP status .. and your attitude of genuine quality for rep prices

Gatcha if you feel better spreading my personal messages on the board it really shows what kind of spineless [censored] you are..

so what does that prove?.. I "was" going to follow through with my promise,.. and as I said I would be out of pocket.. I didn't mention 100 usd after the fact.. sorry if I didn't move fast enough for you.. but you would of gotten a nicer bracelet that originally promised... and I did offer to refund your money personally.

  2. Sorry, Lani, but I'm calling you out.

And, for everybody else to see, here's the entire set of PM'ed messages (only the names and addresses were removed). The same message was sent to TwoTone.

    Hello TwoTone,

Thanks for taking the time to respond to my post.

The original offer by Lanikai was made on this thread:

And, since then we've exchanged private messages (none of these I have altered in anyway):

Which brings me to today still waiting for a bracelet that was offered if I paid the $30 for the year membership.

As you can all see, I was requesting ANY bracelet. Even the "scratched-up" one that was originally part of the deal. (And, the photos you posted showed NO scratches.) So, after no replies to my PMs, I figured hell…why not just send me a cheaper bracelet. And, I know the Oyster bracelets are cheaper then the MBK (Submariner flip-lock ones). I even replied in a PM saying that I thought they were cheaper. And, in fact, they are. I just recently ordered one from Silix…$25. I also offered you a TRADE of my more expensive Rolesor bracelet for a cheaper one. And, like I said, I would've been happy if you had just sent me an Oyster CLASP! Or, ANYTHING!! But, it seemed that every time I emailed you about getting a bracelet, you were coming up with a different excuse: 1) this one has scratches. 2) get a gator strap. 3) let me look for something else. All these seemed like delay tactics, considering that your original offer was made in late October. It seemed that you hadn't any intentions of sending me a bracelet, because if you had, it would've been sent out during the week of the deal.

I've had no problem exchanging items with other RWG members here.

Um.. I don't believe anyone was inconvenienced TT..

I am the member that 'promised"the bracelet.. and this is the reason that I said I would refund the 30 usd in the first place.. after sourcing an MBK never worn bracelet.. Gatcha pm's me and request a different bracelet.. which would of cost me money out of pocket..GM..pm's me and allis resolved.. but the bracelet he decides on that I have is cheap and missing end links.. the missing end links ifs my fault.

but I promised the bracelet.. so I ordered a riveted bracelet from Yuki's .. 100 usd.. and it has arrived, I hadn't realized I had a deadline last we messaged I told you I would get one, my fault.. I didn't want to make excuses so I just ordered one... but now I find no need to send it.

and this was just what GM and I had discussed... "calling me out" to be more than honest about the "deal", before prior investigation..I felt that since I had made a commitment .. even if it cost me 100 usd out of pocket I would follow through..

but I will call it as "I"it see it..GM your a fricken crybaby ma man.. and for someone who would of gotten a very nice bracelet.. you will get your 30 usd back and please don't bother to PM me about your bracelet .. I don't need it and would rather give it away than recoup my money, by selling it.

Ball is in your court. <_<

  3. I've noticed a lot of "trash talking" lately to members who don't financially contribute to the forum.

What's the "official" policy of this forum?

Can someone join and participate without ponying up?

How long can someone participate without donating, and not draw the ire of the board?

What's the purpose of this board? To steer members away from scam dealers, or to pay the bills?

My question ensues from me observing the treatment of non-paying members, like myself, who have been ridiculed lately for being "free loaders."

If someone doesn't pay up, should he move on?

I know exactly what you mean, brother...

More then a month back, I posted some pics of an awful Rolex bracelet I received from a "respected" dealer. I was offered by one of the high-ranking members here (and they know who they are) that if I became a member by donating $30, they'd send me a bracelet in return for supporting the forum. I ponied up. Have I received the bracelet yet? NOPE! I've even PM'ed stating that I'd be happy with a cheaper bracelet...or just a clasp to replace the crappy one. Anything yet? NOPE!

Even if you pony up, don't expect to get treated like a member.

And, look at how many posts I've made since joining. That equates to $0.30 / post! Fcukall!

I'm a grad student. So, I make jacksh!t money from TA'ing a bunch of 1st and 2nd year students. I can't just throw money around. That bracelet has cost me $68 (original purchase) plus $30. Nice. <_<

Regardless though, I did manage to meet some really nice members here. We just stick with our chats in private and exchange ideas in there.

  4. Maybe we've forgotten that what we are really oohing and aahing at are the designs of skilled watchmakers and designers. Like when Ubi posts photos of his rep IWC 3707, it just reminds me of how great the gen is. But, I'm not oohing and aahing at the rep. Its almost as though we've forgotten the true nature of our passion for watches.

Not so much the amount of questions as the tone of them, anyone who has spent time here knows what we are about and shouldn't need to post negative type questions.

I thought it was funny. Hopefully Hikes will get the joke.

I also noted your grumble in Hikes thread and wonder if all is good in your world at the moment?

    Ken

  5. How can a fake watch be a thing of beauty?

Why do some people post 1280x960 32-bit colour images of their $50 fake and most oooh and ahhh over them?

Why do some people own 10 or more fakes when they could own 1 gen?

I'm starting to wonder about the obsession of some folks.

  6. The patch/image doesn't depict a shadow being cast on the Earth. That is simply the night side of the Earth.

When the moon does cast a shadow on the Earth, its called a solar eclipse. And, even then, the shadow only covers a small portion of the Earth's surface.

The missing chunk of earth is actually the moon's shadow as depicted in the astronauts suit patch.

And you are right Toad, this is a very beautiful piece when seen first hand.
