Oh man, I'm crying here........
I'm the same way..I've just got to try it!
You know how it is.......you just have to touch the cyclops to see if the glue is dry.
Great "Life Lesson"

Thanks for the info.
Cannon pinion size is another matter. I think I'll give it a try with an inexpensive mvt.

Hi Rob,
Recently, I've been seeing some very pretty pocket watch movements in Swiss and US for sale at very good prices.
The 16 size movement is measuring about 43mm. Is that too large for a 44mm Pam case? 12 size seems to run about 39mm.
I'd like to do a vintage Frankenwatch with a pretty movement that easily serviceable.
There are some pretty Hamiltons at good prices.
Thanks for the assistance.

It looks like a 2842 movement to me.
Here's a good review of the 2842. Otto Frei sells them.

A real workhorse of a movement.

Next step ----- find out who is making them??
-
I was in San Francisco last week and stopped by Shreve & Co. to take a look at their watches.
A small selection of Pams but one caught my eye. The 242. I did some checking on the boards and with a few of our trusted dealers and can't find one.
Does anyone know of one?
I figure it wouldn't too hard to do since they do a Pam 88.

Ok,
So how do you know they're real? take a look at the holograms........Hmmm

Very thorough post. Thanks.
Question?? If I want to install a set of Davidsen Capped Hands -- can that be done by removing the bezel and crystal from the top of the case? I've never worked on a Pam case but have experience in other watches.
Thanks

Well, I've been following this soap opera with Joe since the start. Joe is working on a WM DSRD and a PAM 188 for me.
I had the 188 sent directly to him for some mods. Throughtout this whole thing he has communicated with me, and explained what is going on with his health.
No, I don't have my watches but Joe has assured me he will get them done as soon as possible. I started talking to Joe about mods to the DRSD on January 18, 2006.
I expect that Joe will do what he says he's going to do on the watches. I've been buying/selling wristwatches for over 25 years and have never had a problem with a deal. I have no reason to expect Joe not to act in a professional manner. When someone doesn't get back to you in a week and they're in the watch business it doesn't surprise me.
So, Joe keep working on the watches and focus on your work.

Very well spoken Randy!! Couldn't agree with you more!!@doc and they always clame the dutch are far from warm and fuzzy
(blunt and a little too direct are terms more frequently used i believe
) but i'm glad to send some good vibes into this thread so it won't get too cold
have you been to a'dam recently? any change of paying a visit to that nice jeweler were i got my 1675?

Thanks for all the great information. This morning the man with the vj 72 movement decided to keep it - he says he needs to think about selling it and more $$ didn't move him.
So, i'm on hold until I find a movement. Nnow I know what needs to be done. And I deal with O Frei (Bob) so the pushers are no problem. Any ideas on where to get the correct bracelet and clasp?
Best regards,
Jim

I didn't see any from Randy referencing this model did you?
-
I saw one of these sell at auction last year for $85,000 in close to NOS condition. Now one's on eBay for $35K.
Is there a close rep with the 1965 circa pushers and hopefully a Swiss mvt? I've searched all three sites and can't find anything close. The band and clasp should be period correct as well.
-
Joe,
Are you saying this one doesn't need any mods to make the grade?

@Veni,
Awesome collection!
Two questions?? Where did you get the Pam logo buckle in your post?
I'm waiting for my Pam 188 modded up from RBJ.
What strap color best compliments the white dial?
Last but not least---Rich at www.globalwatchband.com Florida based and
has great dive straps and excellent prices.
