  1. I'm a bit confuzzled why folks would want to cram a Planet Ocean strap in to a SMP case, when the Seamaster strap fits perfectly

Oh well, it still looks good :):good:

    TeeJay,

I'd rather spend the money on other gen parts than buy a gen 20mm rubber strap. Do you by any chance have a rep 20mm that fits tight?

  2. Alejandro,

The inner holes can be reached. The band needs to be warm and you can firmly push one side in and then the other pin.

I just took one side on mine out and it took me 15 minutes to get it back in place.

I'll be doing it again as I'm putting together all the parts for a Swiss 7750 conversion with all gen hands, date wheel, crown and tube. I'm just waiting for the hands and date wheel.

After pricing the dial and comparing the rep vs gen the rep dial is fine.

Here's a couple shots of the watch with the rubber strap on the close holes. Please excuse the dust.

  3. I've got the hands and date wheel on order. I want to make sure the parts are right before I give you the part numbers.

Omega in New Jersey gave me them but I want to make sure the hands are the longer hands. The date wheel should be right since it is black and the part number shows that code. All is on order from Switzerland and they just reopened after three weeks off.

Note that ALL the hands on the rep are too short. I didn't get firm pricing on the dial as I compared the rep with a gen and the rep looks good enough for me. I'm putting an ETA 7750 in so the gen hands will fit. If you don't only the hour/minute hands will fit the rep if I remember correctly.

I'll let you know as soon as I get the parts - probably late February. I've got a 22mm rubber strap on the watch and it looks great. I haven't had time to post pics but will do it within the next week.

  4. TT,

Thank you for the heartfelt wishes. The best to you and all of the board from Seattle.

I remember that rush to move over on the week of March 14, 2006.

Because of people like you this Board is the leader in knowledge, class, and accuracy.

I wish you all the biggest, brightest, and best 2009!

  5. I'm interested in a correct case 42mm with an Orange numbers dial and black bezel.

I have a 42mm ETA with gen hands and I do not wear it because the HE valve is not correctly placed higher than the 10 mark.

This has really bothered me since I wore a gen 42.

If we can get a correct case I'm in with any movement.

  6. Monsieur T,

Thanks for asking. What I finally have done is order a Black dial SMP Chrono from Chris. When I get it I'll measure the hands and then check the length of the hands that Omega is supplying for the new model number.

Usually, and I mean not always, when Omega changes something in a model like hands they supply the "new" product for all models that they will fit; even the older models. A classic example is that the early case Seamasters came with the "lollipop" sweep hand as original but in 1961 they replaced it with the arrow sweep. It then became the correct hand.

My rep thinks this is what will happen with these hands but is afraid that they might still have some shorter hands in stock and will supply them even on the new part number.

So, the only way for me to be sure is to measure the hands.

Stay tuned as I'm probably a month from getting the watch.

    Best,

    Jim
