  1. It's a beauty and as the late, great, Chuck Maddox always said "one is just a start!"

The old rule was if you talk to Chuck for more than 1/2 hour you end up buying the watch you were talking about!

    Don't stop now - you must have more ! ! !

  2. If you're going with the Black dial it's a $325.00 or more fix for a new dial. I made a few changes to mine including the movement, hands, etc. and simply can't justify the cost to fix the curly toes and the connections on Omega. Further, after the curly toes appearing on a gen dial on another model I'm even less bothered.

Here's a wrist shot of the gen and a close up of my rep with the mods and double AR:

  3. In the states, I buy all of my custom clothes from Joe Hemrajani at www.mytailor.com

He comes to Chicago about 4-5 times per year and has provided me service that goes above and beyond.

However, if you are looking to do a wardrobe rebuild, or just adding a lot of things (lets say a weeks worth of professional items), it probably makes sense to book a flight to Thailand. I have been amazed by the quality, prices, etc. all built around a pretty cheap vacation.

I've been buying from Joe since the late 70's. He comes to Seattle about 3-4 times a year. Before Joe I was dealing with a local tailor and paying much more for far less quality. His fabrics are the best. I've also visited his brother Albert in HK where they have the shop.

He can do just about anything you want duplicated from a GQ.

  4. Last night I get a call from a friend and watchmaker. He's holding a gen Seamaster SM300 Chrono, Blue dial, circa 1994. This watch is 100% gen as we walk through detail of case back, movement, serials, on and on. Then he drops the bomb. The dial has curly toes and so does the Omega logo inside the caseback. I'm talking curl just like our reps. What to do next since the watch is in for a complete service, and bracelet refinish. Off comes the dial. Gen all the way. So, armed with every number from the watch look what comes up:

Curly all the way. I've been noticing more curly toes on some early gens as well. In fact my 165.024 has the slightest curl.

    Very Interesting!!

  5. Lani,

It's great to see you back and great that you're on the mend.

You know we're still waiting in Seattle for you to get sick of the sun and head up. The ghost of Henry's Off Broadway is waiting.........

Looks like Bill was looking out for you. :showoff: :showoff:

My parents gave me this watch (with a brushed gold case and very unique and hard to find dial) for my high school graduation and I kick myself regularly for not taking better care of it.

Fortunately, my father recently gave me his Geneve Dynamic, exactly like the one in the picture, because he hadn't worn it in years and thought he couldn't find the custom strap. But Taikonaut carries a replacement strap, so this is one of my prize watches.

    k,

that's a great watch. Don't forget Ballard Seafood Fest is this weekend!
