This is a very personal matter.. and being that this is a community of extended family .. I can see why you ask A man that spent most of his life on earth in penitentiaries, taught me the what the "word" love means.. "Genuine concern and caring for another human being".. period !! .. your friend surely thought this of you when he gifted you the timepiece.. forgetting the "value' of it now..as far as in $$$$..... it was meant as a "gesture" of love ..in appreciation of who and what you meant to this person ....can't put a price tag on that.. If it were me, and I had to sell everything to support my family then I would do it.. otherwise ... it would be like selling memories of a dear friend, at that point in my life...and I'm sure I would have regrets about it later.. that being said.. vly,.. you would not have asked if you didn't feel the same AC Lani

Same one.. he's cool.. and what a collection.. if the bezel is "meant to be it will happen" L

Thanks Arthur.. posted the pics and a SOS on the otha fora.. granite's reply.. "it would take aligning of the planets as this has a lower profile".. so strike one .. so to speak.. we'll see if it's meant to be in time.. AC Lani

I don't know or am not qualified to put a definitive on the eta swap,, dunno if the crown would line up ? However I don't see why not... but why not just run this .. if there are no issues what is the sense of spending more $$ if the movement it comes with keeps good time ???.. I don;t always swap my A7750's to eta.. for me if it keeps good time I'll run it until such time as I "need" to do the swap.. Just don't go near any MRI equipment or strong X-ray devices Jus the pounding sound of the MRI magnet is enough to break your movement.. this is the one to get dl...... the polish on this is amazing.. the threading on both case backs is very well done.. .. needless to say the green AR is spectacular.. today in the sunlight it was quite entertaining... Good stuff to know.. thanks JJ.. If you want I have some products that are a bit more professional than 3m.. their products are good but there are others that I used on the European paints.. a bit more refined, that I get from a wholesaler.. black paint was my forte .. any little mark could be seen clearly in showroom lighting..so to colour sand and buff was a seperate three part chemical and buffing pads process.. anyway.. thanks again for the great (as always) tutorial.. AC Lani

Congrats Jojo.. I use "swirl remover" for light scratches...(it's used for buffing paint on cars after micro compounding" and aluminum mag polish for the deeper stuff.. if your using wet sandpaper it goes finer than 1500 and a good thing to use is a soft square of some sort of rubber .. they sell it at body shop supplies.. it will give the surface a more even sanding.. sanding 'orange peel' from show cars would be the same principal.. As far as the movement .. Ziggy once has a review of the Asian Movements compared to the ETA.. the gear teeth was one of the topics.. the Asain Movements had teeth that I compare to Ninja stars.. very different form the ETA gear teeth.. I would have to do closer Macro shots to see the shape of the teeth.. but from these pics it would appear the same shape as previous Asian gear teeth.. dunno some look more rounded than prevoiusly.. my main concern is how it will keep time in the long haul.. not if it will pass for a Rolex movement .. we all know under scrutiny or by a qualified Horologist it won't but it's more attractive aesthetically .. if you choose to open : your case back to look at it.. the finish is still rough.. but so far it's keeping great time.. in sync with my gens.. B.. it is polished and the polished metal (bracelet) appears smoother than the 316L .. the previous metal has a lot of ridges from polishing, when viewed close up in natural lighting you can see polishing ridges in the 316L ..it's even smoother than my BK YM..and that bracelet is great as far as finish !!! regardless the metal is shinier and brighter ..imo.. I was wondering if this was the 316F.. since the finish seems better than previous.. I'm lovin it though.. going to take a cape cod to it and see if it'll make a difference. The weight is substantial and well balanced like my BK YM...the workmanship is top shelf.. I do see the 'SS' in Milgauss is flatter on the genuine.. but you would need to get too close to the dial to tell.. and know what your looking for...even on the gen the "Superlative Chronometer" looks a little uneven. (line) the lume is fairly good the blue a little weaker.. I will give it a couple day's out of the box before I do a lume shot.. @Astro.. you should be very happy with this one... AC Lani -

thank you DL!! just got back from the vintage collector and AD.. he's cool insists on helping me personally.. he was very complimentary of the 300 Pre-T.. said it is very rare.. and the funny thing was he kept saying.. "I could kick myself".. he sold his Doxa vintage collection about 5 years ago for around 300 usd ea. he was curious about the bezel .. confirmed it looks like it's epoxied in place.. but told me not to worry if I swap it for a genuine he can get it off.. the crown.. will be left alone.. the other news is I asked if I could bring in my camera to his study.. he asked "why don't you buy some of my vintage Rolex ... yikes.... he has all the rare collectibles... but he told me it was fine to bring in my camera..and shoot his collection He has an amazing collection even the special edition (can't remember the number) the rep Cats has of the Sub that was reissued by Rolex with the SL lume.. for release in the UK only..was it the 1665 dial ?? anyway really looking forward to shooting some of his vintage collection ... whatever you suggest .. I'm game B ... I'll take it into the watchsmith to have him look it over and see what shape it's in all around. at the age of this Doxa anything other than rain is out.. I wouldn't think of testing it in any body of water.. .. realistically the age alone compromises the integrity of the seals .. this is to be treated with admiration and not as a working watch.. it's been there done that .. so to speak.. time for the ole gent to retire and be appreciated for it's history.. I'll see what mr. watch smith has to say.. before I eventually send it on it's way to ZM.. AC R

I was afraid of the screw down.. nope.. not catching and I hear these crowns are next to impossible to find... I'd be in luck if all it is.. is the tube but.. oh well... yes, got that same thought with the bezel for one of my modded Rolex's AC Lani edit add:.. I'm taking it to a watch smith here today... who has the collection of vintage Rolex.. see what they say about the crown..

Thank you BT.. this may very well be your next rep.. it meets your standards I do believe.. @Dani.. thanks and .... for you,.. a must.. Thank you Modelizer AC lani -
Thank you B !!.. it all started with you and RWG !! I haven't even posted this ova thar yet.. RWG is home.. but tomorrow it will go up there in hopes of finding the bez.. The bracelet is "too cool" .. it feels like wearing silk !! the lume is fuzzy though not lumed recently .. but I love it regardless of what may have been done to the lume.. the crown does get me nervous though.. it's warped when turning.. something to look at later .. the dial font is so fine and precise..the matted hands are mesmerizing ... ok .. I am definitely hooked.. the clasp is an engineering masterpiece back in the day.. Doxa was more innovative than they are given credit for... well we all know what brand 'took" the credit.. And it just lays on your wrist like you were born with it..to cool !!! Thank you again B for being our Doxa Guru here.. I look at my Doxa's and your image with the eagle comes to mind.. @CS.. wow.. can't let that happen .. Malama Pono !! AC R

go here...Give away -
Actually Red.. it needs some TLC.. beside the bezel (hope it's not epoxied into place..)the stem may be warped and in need of a new one.. dunno.. the movement is loose so I don't know if there is a proper space in place.. so instead of opening it ... it need Robs attention at some point.. the dial has been relumed, sometime ago.. dunno if it's a redial.. but the bracelet is in great shape.. it wears like silk.. but that bezzzzel.. .. yikes... I'm totally happy with my first vintage Doxa though now the hunt for a bezel continues... AC Lani
