this is from one of James Dowlings historic write ups..the hands look as they may have been replaced though this is suppose to be one of the last 5513 gilt dial Subs by Rolex .. was this what you referring to Carl ?? the first in the Explorer line.. the one that conquered Everest.. .. just "Precision" ... this would be a nice project.. I have a dial from ND.. but not gilt..

the dial is great.. the bezel it is right now the best out of the box... The font is very well done.. The quality is top shelf .... assembly is done by BK himself.. the lume is awesome.. all in all I am very happy with my acquisition ... This is not the most accurate dial.. better than most..I want to get a gilt dial project going ... but my main concern is the finish.. was the 5513 made with a glossy finish ?? also, are the hands silver and not gold ?? thank you in advance.. AC Lani

the SOSF is offered with the Asian movement and no AR.. the AR on the white dial is not really obvious.. Skylands are good also.. the UPO has the most potential for modding genuine parts.. it does need help with chieftangs AR coating.. but does have the eta or Asian eta's.. as choices.. for longevity I would suggest the UPO..although it would be a good idea to swap the tube/crown with a genuine one, the rep crown is problematic.. check out the trade section,.. you come across some good deals there,.. with members selling their watches for a variety of reasons..
