  1. Thanks! Yeah the dial is unbelievable. Even photos can not do it justice.
  2. Just 'pulled the trigger' on this for the lady. What do you think?
  3. Sorry to hear your problem. I've not read anywhere about a common problem with the a7750 being a broken minute counter. Does the second hand work? It is not likely to be an easy fix. It is hard to say what the problem is. There is a common problem with the minute hand advancing prior to the second hand passing 60 (fixable) - see here. It *might* be that the pusher in your case isn't making contact at all. In which case it would just be a case of changing that part - but this is not a small job and the eta part is not a perfect fit (either the pin needs to be made smaller or the hole in the second hand enlarged). If I were you I'd send it back unless you are planning to get it serviced right away. In this case it is probably worth the part change during the service since this would also solve the common problem of the early advance. I hope this helps
  4. Read here Basically high temp grease can be used. You could also do Franciscos rotor mod which would mean you have a proper eta bearing that can be oiled as per 7750 guidelines (http://www.eta.ch/swisslab/7750/7750.html)
  5. Hi Guys/Gals, We're all probably familiar with the high beat a7750 movement that can be found in most rep chronographs. The lack of a micro-regulator is probably the only serious tell that this is the Asian movement. I have noticed that some chronographs are coming with a new high beat valjoux 7750 that has a working micro-regulator. This looks more like a ETA7750 because of the micro-regulator (and also the bearing on the rotor) but it is actually slightly larger (37mm instead of 30mm). I have two concerns that I hope you guys can help with. 1) does the larger size mean that replacing a broken movement with a A7750 or an ETA7750 is not possible? Or can a spacer ring be employed? 2) is the movement reliable? I would like to see people who have had experience (good or bad) with watches with this movement. I can find very little on this forum about the movement and when I do read something it appears to be bad news. The inability to search for problems with this movement is that people are just referring to it as an A7750, somebody called it a A7750B1 but I have seen this name given to the current A7750 too, not this asian valgranges. Perhaps a name needs to be made up for this new movement. There is a little bit on it here: and a couple of others that I can't refind. One guy returned one and then the replacement also needed replacing. Another guy has had continuing issues with it not having a good power reserve and stopping intermittently during the day. Are these just maintenance issues? Dose a good service solve the problem? Do jewels need to be added during a service? TLDR: many questions about the new 'A7750'(acually a valgranges replica) would like to know if anybody has a clue if it is any good and the implications for making frankens cheers
  6. I know its a mess but here is mine...
  7. I'm hoping that somebody can put me onto a seller for the rep deployment buckle and perforated leather strap for the carrera (or even just the buckle on its own). I've got a carrera on the way from Joshua with the steel bracelet and would like to be able to interchange the straps. I've seen that watcheden sell what I'm after but not sure if they have a decent rep for getting stuff to the UK http://www.watcheden.com/tag-heuer-black-leather-strap-for-carrera-valjoux-version-i-67147-p-1.html On another note - I was looking at my QC pictures and noticed something that may be of interest to some: The rotor is a more accurate replica of the pre 2010 rotor style (the bearing doesn't have the sawtooth rim as per usual but has the proper eta washer). Yes I know the screws are still blue but it's a step in the right direction.
  8. dude that's sweet. I don't suppose when you did it you thought to take a pic of the topside of the a7753 without the dial...? would like to see.
  9. just wanted an asian movement to play with and practice refurbing. l let me know when you decide.
  10. What you planning on doing with the broken movement? (I'd be interested in it) p.s. sweet watch by the way!
  11. The image you are referring to, from lello, was not a gen date wheel. One of my posts has an image showing the date windows from a number of gen navi dials. I hope this helps
  12. Great news Raymo. I'm eagerly awaiting your pics. Col. lol. It's an idea I'm toying with. Esp given the points Andreww noted above. Lets stick with the datewheel for now. On a side note the thing that I'd be more interested in addressing next would be the messed up slide rule.
  13. Not too hard at all given my wife is a printer! I was thinking of potentially using screen printing as I had the impression that this is how the proper ones are done. Interestingly I was going to make prototypes myself. I have some ace paper I once got from HP that is plastic printer paper that will run through my laser printer; I was looking for it yesterday but couldn't find it Thanks Andreww. I think you are right about this being a hard task and that you are correct that the date window position is a slightly different as is the size on the original. These are obviously issues but the idea is to bring the rep one step closer and I think that the massive recess is something that needs to be fixed. In the end even if the recess problem isn't fixed this will give us a date wheel that can be fitted in the reps that has the same number font and orientations as the original. That may be enough for some.
  14. The Montbrilliant Olympus is gen...? Reflectivity of glass is a give away. It's certainly not the Navitimer.
