  1. Hi, Curious to see if anyone here has found a Gen DSSD bracelet and clasp, or even the just the clasp? I'm guessing it would be well over $1k, but I can't even find a reference to a sale on the web. Thanks, D
  2. LOL - got it. I was just able to take care of it. Thanks once again. Discovered some of the edges of the clasp are a bit sharp (guessing un-rolex like) but I'll try to figure out how to deal with that.
  3. Thank you. Based on experience, would it be ok if I use any small screwdriver (I think I have the standard set you can get anywhere) or should I order one of those "use this for your rolex watch" $20 screwdrivers? thanks again
  4. Hi, I just purchased a nice DSSD, but the bracelet is too small so I need to add a link (the fine adjustment piece, if that's what you'd call it, is pulled all the way out). Is this something I can do myself? I'd hate to have to take it to a watch dealer for obvious reasons, but not sure. I see the very small philips head screws on a few of the bottom links. Do I need to remove one of the screws and add a link between one of the links that's attached to the bracelet on either side (I don't see how I could add something at the very bottom of either side)? I looked on youtube but the vids dealt with other Rolex watches. Thanks for helping a noob! :-) It's driving me crazy that I can't wear the thing.
  5. I'd also take a few words of advice in a PM. :-) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. Hi, I'm usually pretty good at digging up the info I need, but only having my phone to search the forums has proved challenging. So... Is really appreciate if a few people in the know could give a quick breakdown of the current options for the dssd. I've seen various versions - the latest noob?, 2014 vs 2015?, WBK, higher end customs (not interested in that but worth listing for others) Thanks a bunch! J Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. WOW!!! That is great info to know about. Hard to believe all those vintage fake heuers. I can only imagine how many ebay watches are in this boat. Thanks for the link.
  8. Great info. Thanks and enjoy your new watch and band.
  9. Didn't know a new version of this watch had come out. What's the differences? Weekendwatcher: Mind if I ask approx how much the gen strap cost and where you got it?
  10. I don't like that answer, but your avatar I do like. I guess the good news is you don't have to worry about fakes when you buy vintage (or let me guess - back then they made reps too)...
  11. Hi, Am I correct that they don't make any vintage Tag reps? I sure can't seem to find them if they do. Love some of the older models. Thanks, Z
  12. Damn! I've looked at these for sometime now. Was originally attracted to the standard day/date, but love the look of the special editions. And you went and ordered both, you lucky dog! Can you give us more feedback on the two? I love the titanium version, but was doubtful they could match the TI feel & finish. What do you think? How does the carbon-fibre face display? There's just so much cool stuff on the watch, I was skeptical they could pull it off. It also looks like the TI has a smaller form factor on the wrist than the standard day/date. What do you think about the Singapore? I remember seeing a rep with a green inner strap, but you strip appears black. Sorry to inundate you with questions, but as you can tell I've been excited about these watches but hesitant because of the lack of reviews/experience I find. Thanks, Z
  13. Congrats on the new watch. I love this Tag and have really been considering it, but I've hesitated because I know the numbers can be misaligned (on some I've seen). Did Mary pick the watch out for you and look out for any issues? Good to work with? I appreciate the info. This rep ain't cheap, so would hate to get something i couldn't wear. Take care, Z
  14. Absolute beauty! My all time fav Tag (the general version - this one is all that and then some). Got any wrist shots?
  15. I will say that I really tried to start to help, but damn it was like taking and SAT test. Chopard non-chrono is great but no SS bracelet (that I know of) I believe there may be some IWC models that fit the bill. Anyway, good luck!
  16. Rep: Omega Planet Ocean Ultimate Breitling SOSF - in the mail AP Royal Oak Automatic Jumbo - in the mail Breitling Skyland V3 - in the mail Tag F1 Quartz - in the mail Hublot Tuiga Chrono Quartz - in the mail Planning to get: Rolex DSDD You have no Panerai, and those are a world of their own. Could look into those. IWC is also a brand that can grow on you. Bell and Ross are a loveORhate brand. They will certainly stand out on the wrist. Have fun...
  17. Hi all, I may need a gift, sooner than I'll be able to get it from China (I have about 7-9 days). I'm in the US - are there any dealers in the US that could get me watches faster? Thanks!!!
  18. My gut tells me a sharp and simple black band would be best. It would make the dial pop. I think colored stitching, patterns, etc... would make it all too much. The dial doesn't need to compete with anything. My 2 cents. Congrats on a great project.
  19. I'm starting to think maybe I'd be better served with one sentence questions vs doing complex posts...
  20. Hi all, I've decided to order a 183. I thought I'd get your input to help me pull the trigger on the right one. I'll be ordering from a private dealer, so I need to send him the pic and instructions. I really appreciate any advice... Question 1: To G or to H? G= Rad, Pan, Black Seal H=Rad, Black, Pan I seem to see more G series here, but I think I might like the look of the PANERAI on the bottom. H is the more current I believe. Ah, I go back and forth... Funny thing is the H is slightly more expensive sometimes for the same specs; not sure why if the only difference is the wording (maybe it's something else I'm missing?) Opinions? Question 2: What's the best version to order, considering I care most about how it looks and not as much what's in it (reliability matters of course). I've seen: Pam 183G Black Seal G Series Asian Unitas 6497 Asian Unitas 17 J Manual Handwind movement Correct shape Bridges Approx $170 - w Saphire. What does "with correct shape bridges" mean? Pam 183G Black Seal G Series Swiss Unitas 6497 Swiss Unitas 17 J Manual Handwind movement, Cortes De Geneve Bridges, Swan neck Regulator Approx $260 - My best guess is that all the differences from the previous watch will be "inside" it (swan, etc...)?? 6497 Movement with Black Dial-AR Coating on mineral Crystal, Manual Winding (17 Jewel) Approx $100 - The low end version w mineral, but does have AR Here's a different low end version; seems to have a closed back, diff strap and 21j instead of 17??? Question 3: Suggestions for a version I'm missing (maybe a member mod, etc...)? I've seen some mentions of such in threads, but haven't tracked anything down. I appreciate the input. It seems many here already have this watch. I'd like to not end up, a few months from now, wishing I had a different version. THANKS!
  21. Thanks man - you make some good points I haven't thought of. I'll look into the Ebel now. Maybe I'll get 2, let him choose, and then keep the other...
  22. I'd pay extra if I knew someone I trusted was going to "inspect and QA" the watch by hand before sending it to me. You can figure out if that's worth it to you, and if either/both will do that.
  23. Thanks. I have looked in to the Chopard.... for myself. The damn low end reps of the XL aren't close enough I'm afraid. I've not thought about a Rolex because of his Daytona/Sub, but you've got me thinking there may be something different enough to work...
  24. Hi all, Been working overtime on the forums for a month now. Discovered the rep world when looking into one as a birthday gift for a friend. Figured I'd could spend <$120... After a month, I've decided on 3 watches for myself (costing big $) but still haven't figured out what to get for my friend. I thought I'd lay out what I'm looking at and get you opinion (maybe you have another option to suggest). Needs to be at or under $120. Friends profile: He already has a gen Sub and a rep Pam and Daytona; he wears the Sub and Daytona most. **I'm not posting the links as an example of where I'll buy. These are just examples for reference. #1: Portuguese 1939 I originally REALLY wanted the @6 chrono, but they don't have a low cost option and found this as a "near gen" rep. Not sure if he'll dig it as it's a bit simple, but I like the size. (great thread on it: http://www.rwg.cc/members/IWC-Portuguese-1...ho-t97170.html) #2 Bell & Ross 02 http://www.tt88time.com/index.php?main_pag...roducts_id=2590 Seems to be a good rep from all I've read. To be honest I wasn't blown away when I tried on the gen; it's nice but I'm afraid you have to have specific taste for it. Tempting #3 Oris F1 watches: A: William F1 Team (Updated) Automatic http://www.tt88time.com/index.php?main_pag...roducts_id=1576 I've seen these mentioned. Like the look, but haven't seen anything about the quality. B: Oris Williams F1 Team Chrono New Version http://www.watcheden.com/oris-williams-f1-...-26627-p-1.html Just discovered these. Not much about them on the boards so I can't get a handle on the quality. Looks cool and my friend loves F1, but I'm worried it might be a bit too obscure. #4 Glashutte Senator Sixties http://www.tt88time.com/index.php?main_pag...roducts_id=4089 Simple but I like that it's big and a different sort of elegance. Maybe the white w gold (although rep gold always scares me) He don't see him in old-school watches like this, but maybe he'd appreciate this one. Anyone with experience with it? (nice review here: http://www.rwg.cc/members/Glashutte-Senato...es-t90059.html) Anyway, hopefully you can see I'm didn't start yesterday and decided to throw up a "which is the best rep" thread. I've been researching quite a bit. Let me know what you think of these as the gift, or if you have your own suggestions (that would be great). Thanks a million for the time! Appreciate the time.
