  1. Post pictures of your vacation!
  2. Hello, I recently bought a PAM104 from Joshua (looks great BTW!) that came with a black calf strap with a deployment clasp. It works fine, but the clasp is too short... I can't open the clasp and slide the watch over my hand and on to my wrist. And I do not have big hands. They're in between a medium and a large glove size. So to put the watch onto my wrist, I need to move the clasp to the furthest hole to make the strap opening the widest, then slide the watch over my wrist, then move the clasp to a nearer hole to make the strap fit snug on my wrist, then close the clasp. To take off my watch, it's the same thing in reverse! It takes a while to do this too, since you're using one hand... I figure that if the deployment clasp was longer, then I could keep the clasp set in the hole that I want, then just open and close the deployment whenever I want to put on or take off my watch. Does Panerai make such a clasp? Any help or recommendations would be appreciated, Thanks,
  3. What is it? How good is it? What is the website address for tracking? And how good is it for sending to the US as opposed to DHL, for example? Thanks in advance,
  4. I'm not good with stories, but here it goes: I was at lunch today in a Japanese restaurant with coworkers. A 30-something guy and his female coworker were seated at a nearby table next to ours, wearing a Rolex Submariner with black and red trim on his right wrist. He was wearing a short sleeve polo and kept on talking to his coworker with both his elbows on the table and his hands together in a fist supporting his chin, so his Rolex was right near his face and in full view as they talked... I noticed it, but something about it said Rep... I don't even follow Rolexes, I prefer PAMs, but something about it didn't look right, even though it was about 15 feet away from me. For example, the sapphire looked like glass, the glass looked flat, instead of slightly curved, the magnifying lens for the date was huge, the metal watch band looked rather cheap/cheap metal, and overall the black and red coloring looked shiny... About 30 minutes later in the lunch, there was a lull in our conversation, and I overheard him say something like: "You see, fake Rolexes have this and that about them, but real ones are like..." And he held up his wrist to show her. So, Yep! It was a Rep! Thanks to RWG, even if it's not a PAM, I now know what to look for in quality reps!
  5. Thanks Bill! I would also like to own multiple reps, so I will consider it. So as it seems now, it costs ~$270 for a ETA 7750, and $50 to do a swap, which makes it better to do a swap instead of a service. But that said, where do you buy these ETA 7750s? I've seen some random ones online, with various watch names engraved on the rotors. Does it matter for a PAM 104 whether the rotor has Paul Picots' name on it instead of Invicta, Hamilton or Mido, for example? Thanks in advance
  6. That's what I thought Pugwash... The one I was looking at is an Asian Valjoux 7750b1.
  7. Thanks again for the detailed information! As I consider buying a PAM 104 rep, it looks like it will cost ~$300, and the service will cost up to $700. That means paying about $1000 for a rep that may last only a few years? For a $1000, you can get a very good quartz watch, like a Baume and Mercier or Hermes, and they'll last forever... As it is now, I think the biggest obstacle for people wanting to buy reps is this servicing cost. If reps only cost ~$300 and didn't need any servicing, they would fly off the virtual shelves! So how much does an ETA 7750 cost? It looks like it's actually cheaper to do a replacement. I wonder if you can do a quartz replacement too with a non-functional automatic counter-weight...
  8. Thanks to all for the great and detailed responses So after I buy and receive a 7750 rep, and take it to a local watch repair shop, what are the exact phrases and keywords I should use to 'service my rep'? At least so they won't do a dip and swish, or not do certain things because I didn't specifically ask for them. And what would you estimate the price range of a service for a non-chrono PAM? Right now I am looking for a PAM 104. Is that a model which you would suggest replacing the Asian 7750 with a Swiss one? And about how much would that cost? Thanks again in advance
  9. Thanks for the info! So how can you tell if the watch is genuinely pre-serviced, and not just put at an inflated price to make you think that it is? For example, I'm looking at this PAM 7750 rep for $298 (any comments on the reliability of the 7750b1?): http://www.trustytime.com/index.php?main_p...;products_id=90 Thanks again in advance
  10. Hello, I was wondering why do you have to service a 7750 before you wear it. I already know that the 7750s are: "notoriously poorly put together, and can have dirt and grime (as well as cracked jewels and missing screws) in the movement when they arrive." However, I would have thought that the higher quality dealers would have them serviced before selling them. Any reason why they wouldn't? Otherwise, you're buying a watch, then immediately sending it back to the dealer for service, which seems like an unnecessary delay and cost. Thanks in advance, http://www.rwg.cc/members/index.php?showtopic=2605
  11. Thanks for the info! But the link appears to be dead... BTW, which kind of 7750 mvt do you have? The new or the old? Who did you get it from? I was thinking about a PAM 104...
  12. Hello, I have a general question... On a 7750, according to Rob (The Zigmeisterzumba), "you should only change the time if absolutely required or only as little as possible on these models". However, I also read that automatics by nature lose ~5-30 seconds a day. With that, how often should you adjust the time on the PAM automatic reps? I like to keep my watch within ~1 min of accuracy, so that would mean I would have to adjust the time every 3-7 days, and that would damage the watch? Thanks in advance, http://www.rwg.cc/members/index.php?showtopic=2715
