  1. To me the genuine PO is one of the nicest watches I've ever seen.

I could see me saving up for one, nice as the 4th generation is.

Make sure you know exactly what you are buying, I was stung by one of our most revered dealers, recieved a 3gen and it was too late by the time my noobness wore off.

  2. I don't think you would be disappointed with any of them, Its not that the white does not need AR, its just not as noticable on the white dial.

The blue and black show off the AR more, which is the more accurate of the two I will leave for someone else to say.

I have went for black, the blue looks lovely too though.

To my eye none of them are obviously wrong, they all look great.

  3. TWP is very upfront about such things, at least, when he sold cheaper watches in RWI.

Sometimes he would put "$125 drop-shipped, $130 inspected" etc. on his sales threads, so you knew exactly what to expect. Maybe some people are going, well, that's not right -- but I'd MUCH rather have a dealer like he, who is straight-up HONEST about what he does, than not.

I think TWP is now into modding PAMs, and selling high-end watches, so those days may be gone. As LordRasta said, he mods them, and I'm quite sure that means he QCs them. :)

He does seem very honest, I asked for a part and he asked if he could drop-ship, giving me the option.

Seems a straight and honest guy.

  4. hyster, if you ever wanna let that one go, it would never leave my wrist... and you would keep my from dropping a big wad for a gen.....

Ha Ha :D , I'll add you to my growing list of people I have promised to tell if I decide to sell it.

Some fantastic watches here guys, the Skyland.....

  5. I bought a DSN fiddy at the tail end of last year, the crown wobbled but it was stunning so I kept it, after a while timekeeping became very inaccurat.

It had been a while since I bought it so I wondered if I was going to have any bother getting it repaired. I contacted DSN and he said to send it back, it came back with a fault and went back, next time it retuned all was fine and has been since.

The very first one I had lumed like an absolute beast, this one is great for a while then dies a death.

I dont feel the need to risk returning it for that, if it bothers me I will contact The Zigmeister.

There are issues with his QC but as has been said, a good one is very, very impressive.

A friend was laughing at the size of my watch at a wedding recently, I took it off and handed it to him, he flipped it over to look at the back, his jaw dropped, and stayed dropped.

He said he would wear it the other way round. :-)

  6. Perhaps the comprimise would be to make the thread a VIP only thing.

If you have paid the subscription you deserve the answers?

After all its about finding the right watch from the right dealer (do we entertain wrong dealers?) at the right price.

You would still have to research to decide if the watch is up to scatch and if the dealer is trustworthy.

I use the search button every day but am happy to help my fellow man with my experience however limited that may be.

The best of the people I have met around here and other forums have the same sharing attitude, we are a group, we share knowledge.

  7. Personally I don't think this type of 'supermarket comparison' is appropriate or helpful. In the old days it used to be considered poor form to post prices openly.

I would be interested to know why think its not helpful Doc?

As far as I can see the dealers held up as the shining light when I first joined have on since, on occasion been found to at the very least bend the truth and after using the new kids on the block, I have been very impressed by their service not to mention prices.

I'm not saying everyone should just buy from the cheapest dealer but surely it is of interest to see a comparison.

If anything, I just want the odds stacked in favour of the buyers and not the dealers, knowledge is power.

I've paid a lot more than peanuts in the past and delt with prize monkeys, a high price is no guarantee of good service.
