Use "Sagrotan Schimmel-Frei"
it is with chlorine and works fine.
Thanks! How long do you have to put the insert in it? Mine has been soaking in there for 2 hours now - no effect at all. I seriously doubt it will work...
Edit: Ouch! 15 minutes after I wrote this the insert was WHITE! Damn, that's really hard to control... I didn't see any effect for two hours and then the whole paint faded away in 15 minutes... well, I guess I have to try another bezel...
Mine looks kind of "inversed" now... I'll post a pic later.

I already have UV glue now I only need a cyclops to try... I will have to polish the crystal more before installing the cyclops though. Don't want that dull look under it...
-
Hmmm, what kind of bleach is it you're talking about? I tried bleach you use for clothes - no effect. I don't think you can buy any other bleach here in Germany... maybe in a pharmacy... so any hint? Thanks!

How long did id take to sand off the cyclops bro? I'm sending my watch to PBdad on Monday and he is going to try a few things to correct this same issue. I would love to see what the watch looks like with an ofrei cyclops.
Didn't take long... about 5 minutes with a Dremel, another 5 with sandpaper and 5 for polishing.
Still thinking about adding a cyclops again... I probably will!
-
What do you guys use to bleach the inserts? Mine is way too black...
-
I had the same problem and sanded off the cyclops of a Clark 127. I actually like it without... look here:
-
OK, I sanded the cyclops off a Clark 127 and re-polished the crystal, not too much to maintain that used look (it's exaggerated on the pic due to the light). I actually like it without cyclops and will probably leave it like this...
-
I could use one for my 005 so I don't have to wind it manually anymore...

I've got the gen Red Abyss and I love it. Might buy the yellow rep and do my first side by side review...
-
It's a Dutch brand and almost every "I want to look cool and everybody wears one so I must have one too" 21 year old wears one over here. They basically "steal" the designs of well known brands and give it their own twist.
Yep, it's the same here in Germany. Very popular brand. I don't like it... well, guess I'm too old...

Thanks Val!
I'm not really a Breitling guy as well. I always thought the Navi is the only nice watch they ever made...
Now I own two gen B'lings...
-
Nice. Is that a gen? Where did you get the steel band?
Yes, it's gen. The bracelet came with it. You can buy it on steel or rubber...
-
By the way: Breitling AR is the best! Apart from Chief's of course...
-
Well, I didn't buy a Rolex... imo they're just too expensive at the moment (yeah I know, probably they will only get more expensive...).
I couldn't raise enough funds to buy a gen GMT Master. I would have had to sell too many of my watches and on second thoughts I decided I didn't want to do that. Anyway, I sold 4 reps and a Seiko I didn't wear and bought a gen Breitling Superocean II Red Abyss. Only one year old with box + papers in very good condition and on bracelet for almost half the price of a new one. Pretty good deal I think and I have to say I really love the watch. It's a great summer watch and wears extremely comfortable on the Pro II bracelet.
I'm surprised that so many members here don't like the SO II - to me it's the perfect summer watch!

Summer watch! Despite the bad weather...

Would a Clarks 127 not solve the issue?
No, don't think so. Look here:
-
that is what i would sugest as well machine it off and then polish it
OK, I'll do that.
My problem is that I've one of those Trusty 1680s with wrong cyclops alignment. I'd rather see it without cyclops than with the crooked one...
@JoeyB: You said you glued another cylops to the crystal - does ofrei sell plexi/acrylic cyclopses or did you use a glass one? Does it look OK?
-
Thanks! So exactly the same one without cyclops doesn't exist?
-
Hi there,
is there a plexi that has the same diimensions as the Tropic 127 but doesn't have a cyclops?
Thanks,
Whatever

Thanks for your input guys!
I'm really not sure what to do... I don't see a Rolex mainly as an investment - it's a watch after all and I want to wear it. Still it's part of the deal. The prices are ridiculously high atm, I agree - and of course it helps to know that you won't lose too much if you sell it on after some time.
I'm looking around for a good deal but haven't found one yet. Prices in the US are a bit lower than in Germany and with the current exchange rate there might be good opportunities... still, I won't travel to the US in the near future and shipping is too much of a risk for me (and way too expensive if you want to insure it right + customs...).
Guess I'll have to keep looking...

Hi there!
I need some opinions...
After looking for gen Rolexes for a while I'm really appalled by the price level. Of course I know of the recent price increases and they seem to have affected the used market almost equally. You can't find a decent GMT Master II for under 3500 euros here in Germany. And that's for watches that are 15+ years old and have never been serviced...
What do you think? Is it still a good Investment to buy a used Rollie now or is the market already overheated and prices are likely to decrease again? I think Rolex might have taken it too far... it still works, some people might even be attracted - otherwise the price level on the used market wouldn't be like it is... but there has to be an end to this price spiral... hasn't it?
Cheers,
O.

Great review, thanks!
I have to say this watch really grew on me... at first I didn't like it at all, now I'm seriously thinking about buying one. Maybe the yellow rehaut one - as a summer watch!

Tropic 127 without cyclops?
in The Rolex Area

Here we go... I glued on a cyclops. The cyclops is from a rep GMT Iic so it's probably mineral glass. Looks OK imo!
I just need an new insert because I bleached mine a bit too long...![black_eye.gif](http://www.rwgforum.com/public/style_emoticons/default/black_eye.gif)
