Sometimes its hard being a noob around here. All sorts of acronyms are flying through the air:
AD
SEL
MILF
GEN
UPO
ETZ
DSSD
SDDS
PT
SDS
SMP
AR
WTF
CONUS
SS
PM
TT
How about making a acronyms list to help newbies?
Sort of like http://www.acronymslist.com/

Thanks guys. I was thinking toolbox, sewing machine and the watch in a tumble dryer for a few hours...
congrats !
now beat it up
cheers,
Frank
nice one thogaa - your collection is growing fast :-D
+1 - congrats by the way!!

That looks just about right. Did you plunge the whole watch or just the insert?
Here's 3 minutes in straight liquid pool chlorine. Like Lani said, it got much lighter when it hit the air. Next time 2 minutes might be worth a try.
All in all, I'm quite happy with the results. It's very uniform throughout the whole insert. It actually looks slightly darker than what the picture shows.

Sorry mate, They are for a Seamaster The James Bond Professional Diver 2531.80. Ironically I lost it in the Meditteranean sea!!
That's the one my brother's missing.

Looking good thogaa! What dealer did you get it from?

Here's sort of a review of my new Vintage Military Submariner.
Movement: Swiss ETA 2836-2 25J 28800bph (I hope)
Arrived on time - no customs hassle. During unpacking the bezel insert came off
- But seeing how little glue that held it I am actualle pleased with having the chance to secure it rather than loosing it paragliding over Grand Canyon.
That being done the rep is ready to wear
Or at least if you've got the wrist of a 5 year old
Luckily I had an old Bond G10 20mm in the sock drawer
Me like the bulky plexi crystal
All in all a fairly good rep for the money I think.
The lume is awful - almost none at all but I guess on a gen of this age it would have faded anyways
-
I used straight bleach, took a minute to realize that the paint was coming off, but "floating" above the surface. I touched to see why nothing was happening and my finger had a black spot from the insert.
Oh no no no no no
-
I have a gen speedmaster bought an an auction with no paperwork or box too - It's not that unusual that people throw away those things.
My brother won an Omega 007 Seamaster in a cinema contest about 10 years ago and it was sent to him in a bubbly envelope without any paperwork or box. An AD confirmed the watch at the first service and it's still running.
So at least a couple of people need boxes without being scammers

Cant wait for the rep
A Genuine Watch was bought and dissected for the replication of this watch...
-
Great vintage look.
What chemicals you use?
-
Thanks guys. Problem solved. The factory shipped the wrong item. Instantly replaced by the dealer. He is shipping the right version now
-
My second rep that arrived this morning is definetly on for today
-
I just received this in the mail. Doesn't look quite right to me.
Ordered an ultimate version and was promised the latest best ever made rep.
What version is this?
Completely GREEN lume
Oh good it's a grade AAA
Aren't the bezel numbers a bit thin?
-
I don't think those depth #'s are referring to womens undergarments, this guy is like the Jaques Cousteau of panties.
-
When I am pleased with something I completely forget what I paid for it - I guess I'm suffering from the syndrom too
There are 3 gens in my sock drawer just now...
-
Sorry to hear - as a noob here I'd hate to run into that kind of trouble like your experiences with those ultimate perfect super final edition 1:1 reps. I guess we all must expect a fair bit of trouble when buying knock offs at 1/10 the price of genuine goods.
But sticking to genuine watches will not keep you entirely out of trouble though
I've had a couple of Navitimers that fell apart, steamed up and one where suddenly the bracelet came off in 100 parts. Those were all genuine Breitling quality! - Partly because of my bad experienses with those I'm now into reps...
You might consider selling your "collection" on the forum - someone could surely use or mend the watches. Have a nice weekend
-
Did a bit of vintagening today. Wet sanding the case and adding a few dings before polishing with a dremel...
Looks much worse than it is because of the flash.
I masked the bezel and gave it some matte clear coat
-
That's great!! Good stuff. TT's site is down...what movement is in this one?
2824?
-
Sounds like ETZ are really doing something about it - That's great news for those of us who ordered the new V5 - I've got a final version on the way from Andrew as well so it'll be interesting to do a side by side review on the two
I wonder if there's any truth to the >30m waterproof in the description @etz?

Update: this watch has gained app 25 seconds in 4 days.

Any news?

Yeah.
Put'em up in this thread and I'll make a sorted list to be pinned
I believe these are needed too
DOA = Dead On Arrival
POS = Piece Of Sh*t
Don't quite know where to put
STEBLEHOX = A rare precious metal used for rep bracelets only?
