  1. I have never sold any of my reps:

    1. I fall in love with them over again. The IWC CD06 is a real phoenix :) Seasonality comes into play too: The Corum ACC gets less WrTime during the summer.

    2. The ones that stop singing to me, I donate them to friends&family

    3. Some of them are then returned to me, messed up by said F&F (my dad has killed some really nice ones :p no wonder I am not getting him a gen) These become organ donors or testing benches :) The watches, not the F&F :p

    4. I have entertained the idea of selling some of the reps that are on the lower end of the wrist freq, but still consider it not worth the hassle. Their contribution to the next purchase will be marginal since they are either not top class or condition.

Nice reading what others think about it.. I might change my mind and manage to keep my collection trimmed :)

  2. First things first: Silix is a trusted collector. Period. He has been around for ages. If he wasn't a trusted collector, he would have been removed from this forum.

I have received very nice watches from him in the past. Once he shipped the wrong version of a watch, and offered a refund/replacement upon returning it. The mistake was not due to drop shipping, but due to language barriers. Communication can be somehow difficult and slow. He is getting better, but expected performance should be something like 1 email per day. Most newbies need a bit of pampering and while Silix is very friendly, the transactions always feel a bit vague/uncertain. Other collectors are higher in this game. Almost instant email replies, automated and personalized feedback, credit card check out etc.

EU customs-strictness varies by country, so give us some hint where You are located. I think that Germany and Italy are the two worst countries regarding seized watches. Some collectors opt for a forwarding service from UK, but all of the above are the reasons that TwoTone said that You should first chose the dealer, then chose your watch.

BTW welcome on board. This place is a library of knowledge, and most of the things that You currently asking have been addressed multiple times. While people will try to answer them every time from scratch, You will find that searching and reading will bring You faster results than starting new threads. :)

  3. My guess is that T hasn't updated his site. I do remember this price.

Probably after a price drop in the wholesale P did change the price, but silix dropped it even cheaper (as is the case most of the times with them).

Still, there are always differences between our collectors, and price is just one of them.

Keep us posted if You decide to order :)

  4. Thank You for the photos and wear it well RobbieG :)

I remember T showing us the first runs of his dial. From the start I didn't like the dial. (sorry for that :) )Now I found out what might be upsetting the harmony of it: the minute numbers are not flipping upside down like the hour numbers.

Other than that, it is a real stunner: the flamed steel blued hands, the thin open back, and congratulations on delivering such a nice photo of the onion crown! It looks really sharp.

PS: I see a croc strap? How about a wrist shot of it? :)

  5. Have You tried the genuine counterparts of what You are about to order? :)

I am asking You because the Ω PO is a great watch, but a bit on the heavy/tall side. Other than that, it is one of the best out of the box replicas You can get.

On the IWC portugueser, I agree with Corgi, that there are many inaccuracies compared to the gen. (Notice the dial spacing and the date wheel, let alone the open back monstrosity) While I love the genuine, there is no way I would get this rep as it is.

  6. I like the 5004 more than the 5002, still with the open back displaying THE 7 day caliber, there shall be no rep doing it justice.

I would love to have a fantasy rep, made out of this 5002 but with the 5004 dial/hands/date window/crown. I the 5002 face doesn't sing to me :)

Looking forwards to the first reviews :)

  7. I was just about to start a thread with the same subject :)

This is a rep of the 5002 model. (look at the date window.. framed) Thank God they didn't do the new open back (like the portugeiser)..

    Compare to this review. http://www.nuxx.org/reviews/iwc_big_pilot_5002.html

    Looks pretty impressive.

Clasp look nicely done. Thick strap too!

We are missing the dimensions, but it looks big compared to the caliber.

Wrong crown, but You can't have it all :)

PS: after further investigation the crown is correct in some variations of this model.

  8. There are 3 different types of problems regarding chrono resetting:

chrono caliber not stopping at the correct point, a simple reset might help. (Try starting again the chrono, stopping at 10'' and then resetting. If this doesn't work, try resetting from the 50" mark. )

chrono caliber stopping at the correct point BUT the hand slips (from now on the indications are offset/ or the hand is not moving at all). Watch has to be opened and the offending hand be reset correctly.

chrono hands are slipping during non-chrono function or not running during chrono function. (especially the hour counter) This calls for watchsmith work.

  9. Just to chip in... Saw one at an AD, and I can tell you like most HBB reps, this one is SPOT ON.

Yes, no logo at the side too. The RG version however, carries this logo. No logo on tantalum.

The press release of the tantalum says :"Lateral inserts : Black composite resin with YCM logo at 9 o

  10. The value of the gen should be that of the market value of the reps. Stretching it, gen price should be the purchase price of the reps.

So, don't cheat saying that You would trade two reps of 300$ with a gen of 20.000$ :) You would be insane not to!

With that in mind, I wouldn't swap my reps for one gen. I enjoy my diverse collection, and I don't care about resale value or the possibility of being 'called out'. That doesn't mean that I don't have gens in my collection. I am just not giving up my reps :)
