  1. the case back is FAR from 1:1.

Not really true - the rep 318 caseback engraving is pretty close to gen, I've handled the genuine article (and own the rep).

And the 318 gen is fairly easily available, as an earlier poster said. Though its always been a couple of $k more expensive than the 005 wherever I've seen it.

  2. From what I hear PAM177L is better quality and more accurate than the recently released PAM177M.

You can always find something to mod, it just depends on how picky you are. But these models you listed (especially the closed back PAM318L and PAM005K) and are great out of the box, which is why they've been selling like hotcakes.

ps. OP you might want to edit your title, it says 050 instead of 005.

  3. Im sure you are a good guy but try to look at the situation from my point of view. I try to answer all your questions best I can. The only thing I ask In return is a "thank you". It only takes a sec to say "thank you ". Thats all Im saying. If someone go's out of there way to help, say "thanks"!!!

    Well-said Max.

Greek - you obviously know how a forum works - so read through the existing threads, use the search facility, don't expect to be spoon-fed. You're not the first to burst on to the scene with a never-ending barrage of simple simon questions!

  4. Can I ask who you got this from, and does it have the Asian or Swiss movement? Is it water resistant like the gen?

You do realise this thread is from April 2010... still a fave watch of mine though. Got a V1 on thick black leather, better than the puny little kevlar 21/18mm it comes with. Most of the forum's trusted dealers can source this beauty for you. It deserves a re-lume and new AR. Asian 7750 movement has been troublefree for me.

  5. Hi, 005K will be in stock by the end of the month at all dealers (so they say). Not sure what you mean about the leather/alligator strap, but most of the rep straps are of poor quality (though they have been improving) - better you stump up a little more cash for a quality handmade strap from one of the popular makers on the forum. You'll need to work on that strap collection once you own a Panerai!

005 to start with... seems to be out of stock. ...I want a watch with a leather/alligator strap which is not a standard fit on the 005...

  6. Please do yourself a favor and stick to one of the forum's trusted dealers, you'll find them here:

    http://www.rwgforum.com/forum/230-watches-clothing-accessories/

Joshua, Kingwatch, Trustytime among others listed can get you what you need. Don't waste your time with other sellers/websites, there's a reason why this forum has a list of dealers, they provide a superior service and aftersales support. If they don't, you can contact one of the forum moderators to help you sort out any issues you might be having.

  7. The 3717 Pilot Chrono is one of my favorites too, great choice and cool photos! Very nice out of the box, though for me the hour and minute hands were noticeably off in colour. A re-lume of dial and hands is a must. When re-luming its a good idea if the lume can be painted directly on the dial after removing the plastic markers (which are the wrong shape on the latest 3717 V3 anyway).

Straps that look great on this watch for me are dark brown alligator and TopGun kevlar.

Here's a photo of my two, spot the gen!

  8. Is it a coincidence that the Lizamoon attack was launched around the same time? About a million websites have been affected:

SEATTLE (Reuters) - More than one million website addresses have been compromised by a sophisticated hacking attack that injects code into sites that link to a fraudulent software sales operation.

The mass attack has managed to inject malicious code into websites' links by gaining access to the servers running the databases that power the Internet, according to the technology security company that discovered it.

Websense, which first found evidence of the attack earlier this week, has called it 'LizaMoon,' after the name of the site the malicious code first directed its researchers to.

On that site and others, users are shown a warning from 'Windows Stability Center' -- posing as a Microsoft Corp security product -- that there are problems with their computer and are urged to pay for software to fix it.

Microsoft has no product of that name. The company did not immediately have a comment on the attack.

Websense said some Web addresses related to Apple Inc's iTunes service were compromised. Apple did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
