    IWC 1939

Mr. X! You are the one who got me into the 1939 Yes, the strap is about 200 USD, which is about twice of the price I paid for the watch! It is an aligator strap. I got it from an AD in Taiwan. I walked in and told them that I have a 1939 at home and I need a strap. They picked up a 1939 in store and found the best fit (thickness and color) alligator strap they have.

    IWC 1939

    The lug size is 22mm
  3. Beautiful, thanks for sharing! RG looks gorgeous
  4. Cool, thanks! BTW, this is the video I found showing how to do it on a submariner, I used the same tool but could not have the DSSD bezel come off
  5. Thanks plaifender! I saw some videos showing how to take off the bezel from a submariner by using a swiss knife. The guy slides the knife blade into the gap between the bezel and the watch case then apples some force to remove the bezel. Is it similar for the DSSD?
  6. This is very cool, thanks for sharing! One noob question, if I want to remove the crystal from a DSSD, do I have to remove the bezel first? Thanks!
  7. Thank you very much for the information!
  8. Hey guys, I want to remove the glass from my DSSD and clean the inner bezel. I'm pretty new to this stuff and I have read some useful articles on this site. My question is, after I remove the movement, do I have to remove the ceramic bezel before I can use the crystal press to remove the glass? Thanks! S

    IWC 1939

I got my IWC 1939 from Josh and it is an awesome watch for the price. I replaced the rep strap with alligator strap and it looks fantastic! I'm not very good at writing reviews so please forgive me if you don't find this post useful compared to those well written pieces on the forum. Here are some pictures I want to share with you guys The dealer claimed that it has double sided AR and the AR actually looks good under direct sunlight and indoor under my desk lamp The dial looks good compared to a gen that I examined in AD although I never had the chance to compare them side-by-side. The print of the characters, white lines, and sub-dial are all in good quality without any mis-print that was found in another member's review of a white dial 1939. The watch is powered by a 6498 movement HW. The movement felt solid during winding and keeps good time. Based on the case construction, I would say that it is not very water resistant even for splashing or washing your hand (never had it tested though). So I opened the case back and applied some silicone grease hope to maximize it water resistant capability. Replacing the rep strap has a huge boost on the look of the watch. I recommend to anyone who has bought this IWC Enjoy!
  10. For those who are interested in the weight of gen Rolex watches, I found an article here: http://www.mobile01.com/topicdetail.php?f=376&t=1536430&last=19388119 Here is the summary: Sea Dweller 116660 SS 219g 16600 SS 151g GMT IIc 116710LN SS 154g 116713LN SS+YG 172g YM 16622 SS+PT 149g 168622 SS+PT 111g 116689 WG+PT 277g Explore II 16570 SS both white dial and black dial 127g Datejust 116264 SS+WG 120g
  11. Perfect!! Thanks!!
  12. I can remove the screw in the red circle but the one in the rectangle is half blocked by the clasp and I don't know how to get to it...
  13. Thanks! That's what I was thinking. But there is no single link to remove outside the clasp (the shop removed it for my friend before he gave the watch to me).
