  1. So I have been without a personal computer for TWO months. Two. Credit Gateway computers for their crack customer service and prompt delivery. NOT. These guys are terrible, absolutely terrible.

Anyway, I posted a watch for trade without pictures, because I could not download them from my camera to my computer. Sure, I have a work computer, but they don't allow that stuff. I have so many pics to post of watches that I've bought, watches that I've sold, etc.

    So today I get this:

It'll be a picture bonanza, fellas. IF, and I do mean IF, they fixed the damn thing. Guess we'll see when I get home.

  2. hi TK471,

this watch got a gen original swiss made valjoux 7750.

its easy to swap this movement.

you have to take the main [censored] from the asia and take the rest from the gen 7750.

change the gear on 12 pisition to the 3 position.

i would not to build in a gen 7753.

in the 253 is an old version asia 7750, thats a 1:1 copy with the gen 7750.

i knew that each thing fits.

Well it looks great. I really can't decide. I think I want to get this watch, but I believe that these watches can be made to last for a long time. I'm not sure whether the investment in the swiss movement is worth it. I would still have to send it off to someone to be relumed, so you have to factor that cost in. While it's there, someone could probably make the Asian movement work well.

    Decisions, decisions....

  3. We ask a lot of these watches don't we, Rob? I mean, we want perfectly functioning 2836 GMT movements, dead-on accurate Asian chronographs. Sometimes it's possible, sometimes it's not.

Thanks for the review. When I see something like this, it makes me feel confident that my watch is in good hands.

  4. These are still inprogress at the moment. Was on the phone only today and was told a week - so given that a week means a month in their language I would hope they will be done by mid November but I could be wrong.

Thanks for taking the time to update.

It's interesting that these wheels are so in demand. The 2893 movement is pretty hard to come by these days. I guess a lot of people snapped them up when they were readily available. I know that given the watches in which these movements are used, the datewheel is one big missing piece for us.

  5. Hi All

I really want the PAM 29/63 ETA 2893-2 GMT watch but unfortunately its now discontinued

BUT they do have the same watch with ETA 2836 modified.

Do you think its possible to get the ETA 2836 model and swap the movement for a ETA 2893-2 GMT??

As i understand the ETA 2893-2 is slightly thinner movement, smaller height but only by 1 mm.

    Anyway

    does anyone think its possible.

    Thanks

    Joe

    Hey, Joe.

I asked this exact same question earlier.

    http://www.rwg.cc/members/index.php?showto...636&hl=2893

Basic response was that it's probably not worth it, but I don't think anyone said whether or not it COULD be done.

I was really fortunate that about 15 minutes after I posted this topic, a 63 with the 2893 came up on the sales thread and I bought it. I works much better, I can assure you. If you CAN switch them, DO. There is no substitute for the 2893.

    Hope this helps.

    Z.

  6. That is something that I (or one of our esteemed watchmakers) can fix. What scares me is that the watch is ruined. If you're telling me that it's a pain in the ass, sure, but not ruined, then I'm fine with it.

Great news! I got the bar out. I had to cut the strap off, which was no big deal since it was a cheap-o that came with the watch. I tried the screwbar from the other lug and it worked perfectly, which means that it was a screwbar problem, not a thread problem. That means all I have to do is buy some new screwbars!

Man, I am so relieved. There's some pretty bad scratches now on the lug, but those can be buffed. A good result!

    Thanks to all who responded!

    Zach

  7. Failing that you may have to drill the bugger out.
