  1. Evaluation of EuroTimez V5 DSSD compared to my Gen. Dealer Service: I received EuroTimez V-5 DSSD about 8 days ago. The ordering went without a hitch and the communication was good as well. It took about 10 days from time of order to USPS knocking at my door (not too bad). However, the Rolex Box Set for $98.00 bucks is still not here and was requested EMS as well. Hopefully it will arrive separately and soon, and I am waiting back for an e-mail from them but it has only been a day since sent. First off, I want members reading this to know I am PICKY but a
  2. What2, with all due respect, "I will check on it for you" is a vaild reply. Most dealers probably do not know all the specific about all the watches they sell . I personally appreciate an honest "I will check on it for you" as opposed to a quick and possibly uniformed answer. For me, the test would be...does the seller actually get back to me in a timely manner, with an honestly researched question.
  3. I currently have a V-3, and it absolutley has the strenghths and flaws already mentioned numerous times by others here. I am waiting on the the V-5 from EuroTimez and based upon the excellent posts/reviews by Gioarmani on the V-5 and the pictures (and written claims) on EuroTimez site, it would seem to me the V-5 is the way to go my friend. When I finally receive the V-5, I'll do a quick post to see if the watch I received matches EuroTimez pictures and claims. I suspect it will, but one never knows until the watch is actually in your own hands! Should be about 10 more days until I get the watch.
  4. Gio, I concur with the prior post, your knowledge on the DSSD is a significant help to all of us! QUESTION: Did you just order Chris's "standard" Ultimate DSSD and that is the watch you received (luck of the draw kind of thing?) or is it "hidden" in some special area on his site and needs to be specifically asked for? When I look at the pictures on the current watch for sale, it looks like the standard V-3 with the same flaws and nothing like you are showing. Thanks....Cam
  5. Thanks for your response. I've also heard the very best refinishing companies are out of Europe (specifically Germany). I just happen to have a genuine Rolex dial, but not of the 1680 Red. As I don't feel like sending it out to Germany, I am going to send it in to KR, and have them wipe it clean and (hopefully) do their magic! I'll post picts when I get it back along with price.
  6. I am looking to find the best refinishing company to make me a 1680 Red Sub dial. I will be putting it on a gen Rolex Sub Dial. I'm leaning towards Kirk Rich (unless anybody has a better company besides International or Classic Watch Parts). If I may, can I get some input from members that have had Kirk Rich (or someone better) do refinish work for them? The latest refinished dials I am seeing on eBay for $350.00 are fair I guess but still off if one knows what he/she is looking for. I know refinished dials will never be perfect, but I'm trying to find a decent dial that does not scream fake! Interestingly, Kirk Rich will not supply a photo of their work? Soooo...if anybody has a pict or two of some of their work it would be appreciated along with a cost factor.
  7. Man...that was a very informative and enlightening tutorial. The "follow along" pictures (especially the one's from Warrcraft lol) helped "paint a picture" with your detailed description. That entire tutorial must have taken much research and a lot of time to put together, I will be sure to refer to it for my future mod jobs! Again...great job!
  8. This is Andrew's (Trusty Time) tag over at his site for the top grade vintage watches. "These are TOP GRADES Vintage Rolex pieces that were made 1:1 from the genuine pieces. All of them has top quality case and bracelets and made with vintage Plexi Glass crystal which is thick and domed." I don't know if it is true or not, because if it is 1:1 then I imagine they should except gen parts. As a word of caution, from what I have read and understand, nothing but vintage MBW will take gen parts. TT's top grade vintage cost $188.00 plus shipping $30.00 dollars if I remember correctly? I'm actually going to be selling my TT's 1680 Red Sub with a nice blk/gry NATO strap, modified CG's and lugs for about $140.00 in a few days. If interested PM me and I'll shoot you some picts.
  9. Q, I'm sorry about your experience, and I would say by the very fact alone that the watch gave out so qucikly would argue against the fact they make "excellent watches." Also, paying $1000.00 dollars for any Sub rep is a ROYAL RIPOFF! Is this one of thier alleged "full 18k models" or an SS Sub? Either way...way too much $$! The good news is I fail to see why the movement cannot simply be replaced? Drop a decent Swiss ETA in there, with that and labor, it should not be more $120.00 or so I would imagine? Or, find one here from a trusted dealer and purchase a whole new watch, that is probably better anyway for around the same amount as a movement replacement from a trained watchsmith. The bottom line here is ALL of those type of online dealers are MAJOR SCAMS charging way more for watches that are either the same as we can get through the trusted dealers or, more often than not, older models, that are not as nice as what we get for way less. I sincerly doubt these places do any kind of mods or "custom building" for customers as they claim, and probably drop ship, or simply order, receive, and ship out...period. Also, would you mind posting some pictures of the watch you purchased? I think alot of us would like to see it and determine if any mods at all were done, or, as I suspect, it is simply "off the shelve."
  10. Hi Tee Jay, You brought up a good point, in so far if the watch actually came fully modded "99.99% like original" or something like that as they often claim, then $800.00 bucks while still a little high, might not be too bad of a deal for those that want that high level of accuracy and don't have the skills to perform full mods or the patience to send their watch out to someone to perform the mods for them. With all due respect to your beautiful watch you have pictured, but it does not look fully modded and ready to go to me at all. Now it may be the pictures, but the typical problems with the cyclops/date, large crown and CG's appear to present in the watch you have pictured. In fact, some of the latest Subs for under $200.00 with the "updated cases" are getting better at addressing these issues. Is this incorrect, and are you stating these mods were actually performed? Also, what about the serial numbers and model numbers between the lugs? Were they correct, and I am guessing they are the "generic" numbers (and also not finely etched like the gen) that we find on all of the reps?
  11. Kurt, I don't know how it would not be well received! CG's, lug holes, smoothing out the sharp edges and overall mod job makes for one nice looking watch! Is that a crystal replacement as well?
  12. Hi Everybody, I wanted to share some pictures of my 1665 I had sent to Joe for a full mod package. So, here are some picts and what I had done (or am going to do). MBW 1665 "Great White" SD, Genuine Rolex 1570 Movement, Silver Date Wheel, Genuine T-39 crystal (flat) , Genuine crown-tube, Lug holes drilled , Genuine 580 end links (pending), Genuine Bracelet (Pending). I also wanted to give a special thanks to Joe for going out of his way to get this done quickly for me (about 2 months max) and doing such a fine job! I am very pleased with the work (full mod package and slight yellowing of markers) and his customer service. He kept me informed EVERY step of the way, discussed options, sent me picture updates as well, and drove out of his way to locate a part to make sure the watch arrived back in time for Christmas. Overall, I am very happy with the new edition to my family and Joe if your reading this...I'll be sending you more watches to mod in the future!
  13. I've bought two TT subs in the past from King, one for myself and one for a friend. The bands were too large for both of us, and I used the opportunity to cut the extra mid-link down the middle to see if they truly were solid gold. As far as I could tell, they both were solid gold straight through.
  14. I have an MBW "Great White" in with Joe right now for a full mod package and genuine 1570 movement placement. He was up front and told me it will take 3-4 weeks to get the watch back to me (It's been one week now). For those asking "where's Joe"? He has posted several times to please not PM him but to use his email address. He has responded every time I've emailed him, and has given me his phone number as well. Sometimes he answers, sometimes he doesn't...like the rest of us. So, to this point, he has been nothing but friendly, responsive and helpful. I'll keep you all posted how long it actually takes for him to get the watch back to me, and I'll post some picts and comments on the quality of the work as well.
  15. I found this site while looking for parts to mod a SD of mine. It looks like they have a large inventory of generic Rolex Swiss parts. I thought I put it out here for anybody who may be interested http://www.clockspares.net/rolex.asp
