  1. Awesome leads! Squinky have some very good looking NOS tropic rubber straps. And that modena for 15 usd! I will need to try me a tropic... Btw today the pearl inlay fell out. LoL, this watch gets vintaged by its self!
  2. I will check out tropic style straps! Thanks for the responces
  3. Here is my little vacation watch for 2012. It's my first rollie I've made (but I have built many pam style watches) and I really appreciate any leads on how to upgrade rollies. I also have a Comex Sub and a DSSD in my drawers that I will rework later this year. I was really into vintage Daytonas, but I'm reluctant to go that path as it seems to lack reasonably priced parts. I have a Athaya brevet crown and tube that I could use, but for now I wanted to see how the stock crown works. I'm very impressed with the Clark xtal, and I strongly advocate others to replace the stock plexi with this one. It really makes a huge difference. The parts: Cheap Silix Rollie I did soften the case a bit - it came with some sharp edges. Dial aged and relumed (the silix dial has mustard colored indices, which I killed and replaced with off white lume) Bezel bleached and sanded. Pearl remade. Hands sanded to brass, aged and relumed Clark Crystal ref no 25-19. It's a bit too small for this case - needs gasket and some glass glue Bond Nato (I got the watch a riveted bracelet, but the quality is really bad)
  4. H factory use a low beat 6497 that is said to have issues. I have just transplanted a working H movement and replaced it with a seagull for a friend. Seagulls are great. I will go through the H movement later this summer and see if I can spot any obvious problems with it. The usuall problem is that the asians all come dry and sometimes a bit dirty, but that is easily fixed.
  5. You need to uncase the movement, lift the dial and hands to do a reset of the keyless. Not exactly brain surgery, still a challenge if you don't have the tools or experience.
  6. A stem wound SF240 that is functioning well (especially with a healthy balance spring) for 400USD is an incredible bargain. Still you can find gold in pawn shops, flea markets and such. Not everyone know these are valuable...
  7. The question is, do you have the goods? If so, this thread is wortheless without pictures!
  8. You really need to tell us more about this one. And give us some more pics, a good one from all sides. Need to see the bevels. I've never seen this case before, nor the dial. It looks like the dial has the deep engraving of the gen, which not up until now has been seen on any rep...
  9. What! I'm sceptical, but ready to be proven wrong.
  10. If you need help, shoot me a PM. Though I'm in Europe...
  11. This pam watch use an asian clone of a classic workhorse, the 6497. These are a fairly simple model and friendly to assemble and service. I concider the good asian clones, made by Seagull, properly oiled almost/just as good as the swiss. Though some of the asian clones are of a lower grade, more prone to be trouble. Sometimes it's simple fix, a screw that has loosened similar, sometimes they assemble these movements very bad. And never oil. Sometimes the lower grades have more difficult problems, construction flaws. I don't know what's is being used in your 005, here is your alternatives: 1. Get someone to service your movement, risk is though you have a lower grade asian. These can be no trouble, but they can also be problematic, 2. ... So safest bet is to get a new seagull sg-36, fi from Helenarou, and ask someone to oil and install it for you and you are good to go for a long time. 005 has closed caseback, no worries to use a nonengraved movement.
  12. Guys, thanks for the input. I really really appreciate this. I'm basically a vintage Pam guy (I usually reside on HF) with little to no experience of the Rollies. I did not know the price level of either the gen set and the rep/gen case/movement. But I will do some more research (I'll check out the iphone book), check my accounts and see if there is an opportunity. I have some muscles but I'm not prepared to pay correct price for the kit. I'll keep you updated...
  13. Hello, I'm currently looking at a set of vintage 1970s white/silver dial, hands and bezel that is for sale. Thinking if I only could snipe this kit at a fair price and start a franken project... But, being very uninformed on the rollies, what are my possibilities? A friend pointed me to the direction of jewelryandwatch, but looking at the prices... wow... that route is not exactly cheap. In the end this might fly through the window anyway. Jee, I don't even know what to expect of the price for that dial, hands and bezel! Any input from the rollie guys are very much appreciated!
  14. This is some heavy craftmanship. I'm flabbergasted!
  15. Sead has some really nice modded 111 and 112. He's now based in Europe (kind of). And yes, I would buy from him again.
  16. the PVD crown you are looking for was at least available a couple of days ago. Get a quote from T - he responded to my PM within hours. Good hunting!
