  1. If anyone is interested.... I used a blowdryer on my bezel for about five minutes and then let it cool down for 20 minutes or so. Next I used the cover end of a disposable plastic "Bick" ballpoint pen to firmly tap on the watch case and the bezel.... viola!!! The bezel insert popped off and onto the tablecloth. Upon closer examination of the backside of the bezel insert (dude... he said "backside") it looks like the insert was first painted blue front and back, and then glued onto the bezel... a big no-no because that will most definately be less secure than bare metal to metal. I just cleaned off the bezel, smoothed the back of the insert and glued the whole thing together - properly aligned. This just might work for others out there!
  2. [The major disappointment with this particular watch is that it suffers from a well-known fault on chronos; continuously running Chrono-hours counter. The subdial @6 runs even though the chrono is not running. This is due to a cam that does not retract properly, as The Zigmeister explained in an article..] This may be unique to some dealers or "production runs"... I just received my SMP Chrono from Josh and the "six" subdial only runs when the chrono is running. Otherwise it sits there nice and quiet waiting for something to do. Anyone else see this? GREAT REVIEW!!!! Thanks.
  3. Good point... taking the existing "plug" and refinishing it is pretty interesting. If a genuine or some other kind of substitute proves to be too difficult to make / fit maybe a refinish of the existing "plug" with an inner ring scribed in might work as well? Still haven't gotten my Josh SD back from the "mod shop".
  4. Good idea! I think I'm gonna pull the trigger on that ASAP.
  5. Thanks. That got me thinking about how the clasp works... two thin bars that actually move away from each other when the buttons are pushed. Pretty simple... I slipped a very small common screwdriver in there and gently bent the bars a little closer together. The rest is exactly like you said: finger and thumb, press hard, wait for the click. Thanks dude.
  6. Howdy, I have a repair / mod question about the Omega rep bracelet. The clasp on mine seems to be a bit loose. If I bump the clasp it pops open without actuating the two release buttons. Is there a way to tighten this up so it won't just "pop" open? I've hunted around in By-Tor's guides and done several searches. Lots of great info on re-sizing and changing bracelets out... nothing yet on the clasp. Can anyone offer some suggestions? Thanks
  7. Just ordered one and I'm thinking about swapping out the bracelet with a black kevlar watch band. Can anyone tell me what width the band should be? I think it's called lug size... as far as I can tell a 20" is supposed to be standard. Any clues?
  8. Sage words to live by... I snuck one in recently. Not because she'd say no, but because she can't say no to something she don't know about. It's all about keeping the peace, man!
  9. I have Josh's SD, and while I haven't opened it up it looks like the "HE Valve" is a plug that is set into the case. My guess would be that it is screwed in from the inside in some way. I'm about to have the tube and crown replaced with GEN, so I should have more info soon.
  10. @ Linder... This would be a great standard MOD! Would this be a complete installation of a valve, or a "plug" fitted into a milled port in the case. Either one would be fine by me! Count me in for either one!
  11. I'm new here, but I figured I could share a little knowledge with some of the other "noobs" who have questions about EMS Tracking numbers and packages. A few basic guidelines first. - EMS Tracking numbers are good... sometimes. - EMS numbers work, or don't, depending on where you are and where your package is coming from. - It is far easier to just pick a good (see: reputable) dealer and patiently wait. - Your tracking number will most likely follow this format XX#########XX (X's are letters, #'s are numbers). - If you use Firefox you have to have scripts enabled for this. Here we go: TO TRACK PACKAGE DELIVERY IN THE US FROM SAY.... TAIWAN Step 1. Go to this website - http://www.track-trace.com Step 2. Scroll down to the section with the little red truck that says "Post", enter your tracking number in the box and click on "track" Step 3. A frame (windowed) page will open. The right side will be aqua colored ("teal" for you Miami Vice nuts), this section will tell you the basics about the dispatch and shipping of your package from the other country. Sometimes its takes a day or two before there is any info there, be patient. Eventually you will know when your package left the foreign country, what flight it is / was on, and the entry destination into the US. This entry destination is usually a major airport, and is always where it must clear customs. Step 4. In the left side of the page there is another frame, this frame will have links named after countries. Scroll all the way down inside this frame and select the one that says "USA (USPS)". If your package has cleared US Customs the teal frame will change to the US Postal Service tracking site and there will be additional info on your package. This info will be updated as the package moves through Customs and the US Postal Service system. Eventually it will say "Arrival At Unit" and below that will be the name of your US Post Office Center. You can expect your package in your hands not too long after that! - Note... you can also select "Additional Details" to see all of the stepd your package has taken, and set up Email notification whenever your package creeps to a new stop. Your call. Step 5. Enjoy your new watch. Save up for your next one... it's inevitable. Hope this helps. Discuss amongst yourselves.
  12. Yo momma's soooo ugly... ...when she stops to smell the roses they're afraid. ...people stop her on the street and ask "Awwww. Did your momma lose a bet with GOD?" java script:emoticon('', 'smid_23')
