  1. Do you have pictures to show us? The logo is supposed to be on a slant...but It'd be better to be able to tell the issues if we saw a picture.

On the lume...if it's a standard rep and not a DSN or ultimate modded version from a vendor it's not very common for the hands and dial to match lume exactly...usually the lume on the hands is a bit better than that on the dial....again a picture would be much more telling. However if you paid for this watch to be superlume'd then I'd expect the hands and dial to have the same glow.

  2. As a comparison I was in the local AD the other day and unfortunatly they didn't have any painted dial Luminor models but I was paying close attention to lume color as The Zigmeister is about to get my 005 for service.

However they did have a 111 wich sandwhich dial which I tried to compare colors on. I was wearing my Gen. Omega Speedmaster (which should be pure C3 from my research) and the lume looked considerably whiter on the 111. I'm headed to a different AD later this week to see if they have any luminors with painted dials for comparison. Unfortunately I've yet to come across a gen 005 in person yet.

I realize this is an apples to oranges comparison...but it's something right?

  3. Gents,

Anyone know if this would be the same for an 005 or if the 005 should be pure C1?. I've seen people like DSN actually starting to offer the 005 in only C1 and it confuses me as to what's the correct color for that watch.

Here's a picture of a gen which looks nearly pure white to me

  4. To put another perspective on this...the guy in the Rover with a fake watch...I think that many people on this board have very nice vehicles and are passionate about their auto's. However since this is reality most of us have restricted incomes and have to pick and choose our priorities when it comes to un-necessary spending. Personally I have $150K + worth of vehicles but spend soo much on my automotive hobby that there's little else left for my other passions.

I'd hate to think that if Rep expert calls me out on my watch while getting out of one of my cars that they'd think less of me because of the watch. I really enjoy the reps, the quest for better and better reps and collecting reps as a hobby...does that make me any less of a person becuase I enjoy other luxuries and cut corners on watches?

  5. All,

I was ready to pull the trigger on a DSN 177h until my research has shown the dials appear to be getting worse and worse and not better. However all of his Ti. models seem to be otherwise very nice with even acceptable crowns lately. (although the crown guards aren't perfect...I suppose we can all nitpick though).

So I'm thinking about getting a 176 base model instead. Previous posts of his 112 / 176 base dials seems to be much better right now than the 111/177 dials. Has anyone received a DSN base watch lately to confirm that the base dials are still good?...or no worse than before?

  6. I too am waiting on one that was ordered on 10/8. However I'm not really worried about it. PAM has a very good reputation on this board and it seems he's not great with follow up after the sale BUT I've never heard of an instance where he didn't deliver goods as promissed.

I know your feeling though...I can't wait to get home every day to see if my crown is here yet!

  7. I'd love to see the "thick crown guard"...if we exclude DSN from the equation, he'd be the fist one to offer one, then.

    What about crown ?

    cheers,

    babola

+1 Crown is an important part of the equation for most of us and it wasn't mentioned as being addressed. Each of us are different in preference for what's acceptable as a flaw but the crown is a big one for most.

  8. If you like it, that's all that counts. I personally think there too many flaws for a modded 111h at that price. Good that DSN made good with you.

While I agree it's aggrivating that the dials have gone downhill and there have apparently been QC issues lately...The canon pin fix, superlume, and thick crown are $300 worth of mods for most of us that can't do the work ourselves...so unless there's a good 111h out there for $100 as a starting point I really don't see anything else being a "better" buy all around.

However if you want to spend $600+ you CAN put together a more accurate 111 than what comes from DSN.

  9. I've got a "Chepo" 005 as well and it's my favorite rep. Got mine from Josuha with the same 21J movement for I think $108 a year or so ago.

The nice part about the 21J movement is you don't have to worry about the recessed pin issue, your case back is like mine which as far as I can figure is pretty good.

However mine didn't have that nice thick crown like yours does...puts you ahead of the game there.

Re-lume with white C1 and you'll visually have an OUTSTANDING watch...if you're like me you don't care much it's got the wrong movement and my 21J has always keeps outstanding time and has never missed a beat.

  10. Do you have any better pictures in "regular" lighting that show off the crown?

I need to quit procrastinating and send you my 005 already...even time I put it on I think to myself...I need to send this thing to Vaccum for some magic!...still on the fence with the PALP crown though.

  11. I really like the looks of some of these medium brown straps on the Titanium watches...esp the Greg Stevens strap and the lighter Toscana one listed earlier...

BUT am I the only one that thinks that the 177h would look killer on a black Carbon Fiber strap? I do not yet have a tianium model watch though a 177h will be my next purchase and I plan on putting it on the carbon strap that came on my 212 and then if I like it finding a better carbon strap to be placed on there for good.

So...anyone have pictures of a 177 or other ti watch on carbon fiber?

  12. I just re-read your first post...this is a PAM 005 with a 21 Jewel movement?

Should it not be a 6497 17-Jewel movement in this model, I have never heard of these with any other movement in them...

    If it's a 6497, then the stem is 1.20mm, not 0.90mm

Pretty sure it's a 21j. Not common for the 005 as it's supposed to be hand wind not automatic but really didn't make any difference to me at the time of my first purchase.

Here's the link to it...looks like it's still being sold as 21j.

  13. Should be 0.90mm, all the ones I have seen are this size.

Thanks The Zigmeister. You may actually be seeing this watch in the near future. Shame that it's not correct as far as movement goes but it's my first rep ever and I'm too attached to it to let it go so I've decided to make some improvements to it.

  14. A radioactive heavy chunk of steel. Fresh from the The Zigmeister spa. :thumbsupsmileyanim:

I used to have the very same watch...with the pre Tag face and everything. Still have the origional case / bracelet but the internals were damaged by a jewler a few years back and had to be replaced but they could no longer get the old face and had to replace it with one having the Tag Heuer badge rather than just Heuer like the origional.

I think this has just inspired me to go put that watch on and wear it for a couple of days.

  15. I'll probably do the 177h when davidsen finishes up the corrections to the dial.

For some reason some of the pictures of the Titanium finish don't do it for me like the polished cases on the PAM's but it will add some variety to the collection as the 111h is too close to the 005 that I already have for me to justify owning both. The 005 was my first rep and even though it's not a great rep it'll probably never leave my collection.

  16. Well In questioning which PAM to add to my collection (currently have an 005 and 212) I've decided that i want something with a sandwhich dial and while I really want a 47mm watch in my collection I'm leaning towards either a 111h or 177h currently.

I think the 177h would be a great addition as I don't have a titanium watch at all in my collection but I'm concerned with how the watch makers are creating the titanium finish on the watches.

I'm guessing it's not real titanium. My concern is that the finish will wear through eventually showing a different finish on those wear areas. Is this a potential problem or am I worried over nothing?

    Thanks
