  1. We'll see how this goes first I need to source some jewelers files before I start grinding away anyway. Wonder if i can find those local or if I'll have to get them off the net...
  2. Great Pic HighDef. I'm starting to think about getting one of these for myself. Where do you source the bands for these? As for the CGs, if my first test run on my el cheapo Submariner case goes well, I may consider modding the CGs on his watch before I give it to him.
  3. Great thread, thanks for the information. The sexual organs analogy did the trick i think
  4. This thread has become quite entertaining.
  5. I had it narrowed to the Lange and the Brequet - I LOVE the Lange but there are quite a few dress watch reps out there already, so my vote goes to the Brequet.
  6. I stand corrected. I had done a quick image search and only saw the sub dial and number markers in the first few images - not used to seeing a manufacturer use different sub dial prints on the same watch - that coupled with your comparison of the two different models with different sub-dials really threw me off.
  7. Sashwatch just posted this in his forum, black face but looks to be a much better rep
  8. A real Birkin costs thousands and from what i understand there's a 6 year wait list for one. I was googling earlier on them and one recently went at auction for $64K, granted I think that was a vintage bag. Also, as far as cost goes, those bags are pretty big and if high quality leather is used that would account for much of the extra cost.
  9. Wow, interesting. I guess the cost has come down quite a bit from what I thought it was.
  10. Well the sub-dials on the rep stand out pretty bad to me in addition to the rep having numbers on the dial instead of markers and I don't know this watch very well. If it were me, I wouldn't buy this rep.
  11. Am I to understand that the rep would actually be made with Ti? I thought that stuff was exorbitantly expensive
  12. I just realized i know way more about women's handbags than any man not selling them should know.
  13. Not to mention there's something like a 6 year waiting list for the Birkin
  14. I got my wife a Franck Muller Conquistador Green face ladies from Wo-Mart and she absolutely LOVES it. The band was a royal pain in the ass to take apart to adjust it for her, but other than that it is great.
  15. I'll say. I'm a member of several online forums -some for quite a few years - and I've never seen newbies like myself treated so well. They(we) are usually berated for months and months before finally being accepted. Really makes me want to spend more time here. In fact, in the last 2 days, I've spent more time on this forum than all of the other forums I'm a member of combined.
  16. The case backs on some of the Panerais alone is enough for me to want one. Funny, I didn't care much for them before I started frequenting this place, but I was told that the bug would bite me. It has bitten.
  17. Decided to add more complication to the list. How about this Hanhart Red X? minimal complication, within the $5K pricerange
  18. When I'm done using the case as a mod learning tool, it's all yours. I just want to keep the crown while modifying the CGs so i can get a look at my work. I'll shoot you a PM or something when I'm done.
  19. So in anticipation of shortly getting a GOOD Sub rep and doing some crown guard mods to it, I decided to tear down this POS "SubmarinerGMT" i got from a friend for like $35 last year. I've worn this watch about 12 times I think. I used Edge's Guide to tear down. (Thanks Edge! ) First shot of this lovely piece: Check out the SPOT ON date mag of the cyclops: The case back gave me quite a chuckle: I was surprised to see an effort at an O-Ring on the case back: Just like Edge's watch used in his guide, this is obviously a cheap movement with the plastic retaining...dealie I have no idea what cheap movement this is, I'm still learning all this. Maybe someone else can enlighten me. The high quality hologram sticker came off on my first attempt to remove the case back. Crown: Here I was trying to get a shot of the inside of the barrel I guess it is called? Anyway - As I said before I've worn this watch about 12 times. The inside of the barrel is very dirty - as was the crown and stem itself Oh NOES! Disaster has struck! i'll never be able to wear this masterpiece again! Using Edge's "highly technical method" I tried to push the crystal out with my thumb. I guess it was glued...(note my blood on one shard ) Here on the case you can see shards of the 'crystal' still attached More high quality evidence on the band The whole thing disassembled (minus crystal) All in all, a good learning experience. I haven't started modifying the CGs yet, I'll do that later. I'm sure this has been done countless times before, but I thought it may be interesting to someone.
  20. Finally got around to taking some new pics of this watch.
  21. My wife has a real coach bag that is about 9 years old now. I got it at the Military Exchange on base for about $130 - retail was about $300. The bag is still in excellent shape and she continues to get comments on it all the time. She also loves it because it doesn't say "COACH" all over it like the new trendy ones do. I think if you look around you can get a good deal. I'm sold on Coach - their quality and durability is outstanding. That being said - I'm looking at one of Sashwatch's Birkin replica bags for her for Christmas
  22. Great shots, what piano? I took shots of my Breitling GT on my piano keyboard too As for the band, i think it looks great on the watch, but i don't like the steel 'buttons' i guess they are.
