The more I see the pictures of the BB, the more I like it - that being said it's a bit more than I want to pay for a rep and I'm also not ready to buy the 1st model line so to speak. Wear it in good health, it looks great

i've only just gotten started with automatic watches - I have 3 and my wife has 2 - so I haven't had to have any of them serviced yet, but I can't imagine just throwing away any of the reps because they need service. The cheapest rep I have now my wife's FN Conquistador ladies and she wears that watch every day just about. She'd would not be too happy if it died and I told her to throw it away! My LV Sub has an ETA2836 and I don't really know how much that movement costs but I do know that i love this watch and it is currently keeping to -1.5ish seconds a day. Maybe in 3 to 5 years when it needs servicing I'll think differently, but right now I plan on having it serviced and not throwing it away. On a side note, my genuine Tag Heuer Targa Florio papers suggest servicing the watch every 2 years - what gives? Should I have it serviced at 2 years or wait until 5?

Out of curiosity, would there be anyway to 'restore' that dial? Or with the horrible relume job is it pretty much ruined?

I agree with everyone else, get a good rugged quartz watch beater for this trip. You won't have to worry about it being confiscated at customs, and more than likely you won't have to worry about it being stolen either.

Yeah, I guess I could just start looking for a good seconds at 9 daytona. I've got some time to look though as i've slotted this on my list behind the Pam 111h, FM Conquistador and Omega Seamaster Chrono

I've never been a huge Daytona fan, but I AM a huge autoracing fan. I was just at the Rolex website looking at their motorsports section and the Le Mans 24 hours video loads up - I have to say that's a masterpiece of marketing because it really makes me want a Daytona! Now my only problem is that I don't really want to deal with all the problems that the current Daytona reps have with the extra gears in the movement and what not, and I'm not a watchbuilder by any stretch of the imagination like Ubi so I can't build a franken Daytona. Guess I'll just have to bide my time until a better rep comes along..Or go for a vintage rep maybe.

I've been looking at that BB following the thread on it, and I really didn't see what everyone was going on about, but those shots above make me think twice, it really looks good. maybe I need to find an AD and try one on and rethink it.

By-tor, that Navitimer TT is gorgeous. I had been thinking of getting a TT Sub for a while about a month ago but decided against it after reading similar reviews of the gold quality. That TT Navitimer though - that looks like a suitable replacement to me!
