bump for this thread:
Has any members here changed the rep tube for a gen tube (for the 6mm twinlock crown) onto the old 1655 case?
If yes, was it a simple swap or is re-tapping required to ensure a better seal on the gen tube and the case?
Appreciate any assistance and advice on this.
Thank you!

very interesting read kbh..thanks for the link!

any comparisons between the Angus DW and yours?
would you do it in blue?
-
Only if you start the chrono at the exact same time the second hand hits 12 on the subdial. Then in theory the will both run at the same time. If you start the chrono hand at any point when the second hand is not at 12 it will be different.
Why would you want them in sync?
Cos in the pictures, they are in sync?
-
Noob question but should the chrono hand and secs@6 be running in sync?
-
wow..very nice insert...have been searching for one for the longest time...
-
have you tried wearing the classic SD instead of the DSSD?

Very nice..now what are you gonna do with your 7836?
-
that 5.3mm is looking real nice.
-
wow..now that's an insanely good looking tropical dial..very smart indeed..
-
I agree with you..but i think RA is trying to do something similar so that the 5.3mm crown can be fitted without the huge gap..
in the meantime, installing a gen 6mm twinlock crown would be the next best thing..
the biggest problem with 1675 and 16750 builds is the crown. there is a big difference between the 5.3 mm and 6 mm crown. I have a gen 16750 and the 5.3 is tiny!! When you put a 5.3 mm crown in a case made for a 6mm crown the gap between the crown and crown guards is very noticeable, maybe not by the average person, but anyone with any knowledge of plexi GMT's will know. It's too bad that the rep manufacturers have never made a decent case for a 1675/16750. If you have someone who can laser weld, they can build up the insides of the crown guards to make it work, sort of like some folks are making old Rolex cases look brand-new by building up the lugs and restoring the correct bevel to the top of the lugs.

Great pics and I've been looking for pics of a gen vs rep GMT bezel. Could you possibly post pics of the underside(back of bezel insert) for comparison between the gen and the rep?
thanks
Sure thing..
Let me get to it when i'm back home..
