  1. The only pieces you could not have made at the big factories is the pieces that have trademarked logos on them... so, the majority of the watch pieces could be made at the big houses...

I used to work at a rubber manufacturing plant in research and development... two of the bigger pipe o-ring gasket manufacturers had their gaskets produced at our factory... the same machine, the same mold, the same rubber design formula (i did it)... the only difference was that the insert in the mold was taken out and replaced with each manufacturer's info..

  2. I think the only alternative to The Zigmeister would be if we could clone him! Yeah, that's it, we'll make a whole army of them! Seriously though, there are guys who mod watches on these boards but there is only one who I would consider to be a watchsmith... I have something in the works that I hope that The Zigmeister will accept (he said he would by e-mail already!) and I know when it goes to him, I will receive something special in return...

As for alternatives to servicing of movement and re-lumes, I suppose a list would that showed viable alternatives would be great... but even these viable alternatives can have the wrong mindset... i believe you may find someone to service your rep, but they will treat it as a rep... they won't care for it and treat it as a valued timepiece... they will think, "what's he going to do, complain to replica rolex?"

There is only one other person who is at an advanced level who I have heard about that will treat each watch as special but he only does re-lumes....

So, you may find someone else to work on your watch, but i don't think there is a true The Zigmeister alternative out there...

  3. -- (See Lie #1 for "Swiss made".) Far from the truth. Very few replica watch movements come from anywhere but China and any watchman can immediately tell it's not genuine. There are no 27 jewels movements in replica watches; only 25, 21, or 17.

This is not true.... there are 7753 powered replicas (like my 188) and it is 27 jewels....

You will not see an Asian 27 jewel movement for sure though...

  4. well... i actually had my first pm excange with The Zigmeister yesterday to explain what i wanted done and he gave me some great news as to what is possible.... i personally still need one or two parts so he won't hear from me until the project is ready to go to him to be completed....

if we do not treat others well in this hobby, our enjoyment of the hobby will suffer for it... a lot of people, including The Zigmeister, put a lot of time and effort into this thing of ours for not that much compensation when you really think about it... we should respect those efforts by not kicking the tires so much and always being courteous.....

    135 communications? unbelievable....

  5. $3.319 this morning in Southern California for 87... take on $.30-5 on top of that for 91... which is our "premium"

What is funny is my wife really doesn't know how much gas her Armada sucks up weekly... she can get about 15mpg out of it because she drives very slow and steady.... i'm lucky because i have a company gas card so gas prices don't affect me....

  6. I had a watch with the same Despatch from Sorting Center (Shanghai) for days... it's a package from Jay... checked this morning on usps.com and it's there showing it left China 3 days ago... even though China EMS shows it hasn't left....

Weird things happen in international shipping....

  7. It was a great time... and those Rolex franken's were ridiculous.... looking at them... i don't even know what adjectives to use... they were niiiiiice.... cc's 063 was beautiful too.... and seeing The Zigmeister's work on a sausage dial up close like that... well, mine was going to him anyways but now i can't wait for it to be done...

as for women as GTG's... my wife almost came.... but then decided to sit it out... maybe if her new yachty had come then she would have wanted to floss....

you know, i think the key to a gtg is to have something low-key.... we just went to the neighborhood Corner Bakery and pulled up a chair... no signage or what-not....

as for the shot of all the watches on the table... well, i wanted to have a draft!

  8. I'm in AV too.. it was eerie driving down the 73 and looking across to see the red haze around that section.... my parents are at the opposite end of the canyon so it looks like they will be ok...

do a lot of people in the OC have money? yes.... but insurance and money can not replace everything...
