  1. I have the parts for Spaceview conversion

    214spaceviewparts1.jpg

but this watch belonged to a close relative & the model appeared in some of the 1st ads

    1964Accutronad.jpg

so I am still debating whether to switch it over or not. Here it is on its original Speidel Twist-O-Flex band

I've done a few conversions in the past couple decades. The nice part is that it's easy to do and fully reversible. Try it out. If you like it, you can find another specimen less worthy of keeping original to convert.

I have one Spaceview left in my permanent collection that I really enjoy.

    Best regards

I see a '67 214! My oh my do I still love the 214 after all of these years. How about a shot from the front? My curiosity is humming :)

Nice 5513, you've reminded me to bring mine out of storage--perfection.

Here's what's going about business with me today:img7454t.jpg

  3. No signs of my Gold Fever abating whatsoever!

WOW this is a nice watch!!

Took me a while to get the pics to correctly capture the essence of this watch.

    It's a real stunner.

The dial is a nice dark charcoal like the Rubberclad Rosegold.

The black and gold surrounds are perfectly executed.

    Black lume is flawlessly applied.

The pushers are modded already, nice touch.

The Rosegold DLC plating and color are terrific.

I paired it up with an AP Bands black Hornback strap.

I think it complements the watch better than a brown strap. Perhaps you agree or disagree?

If you're thinking about picking this one up, don't hesitate. But you MUST buy a Hornback strap because the rep one is def. one of the worst straps I have ever seen.

This is def. one of the nicest reps I have ever seen/owned (in the same league as the Mr. Z modded Grand Prix and RG Montoya).

You've just read my musings on this watch, now let us read your thoughts :)

  4. Thanks Gents! Got it from Andrew. It's the same one that Angus PT has (latest version). I noticed that they raised the price on this watch recently. I got it the week it came out and it was less than what they're all asking now.

The strap came from my V5 stainless Evo. The quality of the Gummy strap is excellent. Looks brand new and I've worn it 20-30 times.

If you're on the fence about scooping this one up, do not hesitate. You will be VERY pleased. The rose gold is great, the AR superb and it's lumed with Superluminova.

    Cheers :)

  5. Here's a single pic of a recent acquisition.

I have been suffering from Gold Fever and this watch is one of the many that have found their way onto my wrist.

This watch is very finely executed. The AR is terrific.

This is the latest version with Superlume. Yes, she glows brightly.

I swapped straps to the Gummy. I think it fits the watch better. And at my local Hublot AD, the rosegold is being offered on the Gummy.

    Cheers

  6. I gave up on Benz years ago. I still deal with the HORRIBLE wiring harness and stupid failing modules on an SL500. Total joke. The last good Mercedes ended in 1989. I have rebuilt and owned several. All have been great in theory and horrific out in the wild, in real life.

Only 911 and BMW for me nowadays.

  7. Well yes, I do have Gold Fever. It's a fact. And it's a new thing for me because I have spent years and years poking fun at gold watches.

So I picked this one up. It's a Rosegold Rubberclad from the original batch.

White date and highly accurate dial, etc. This puts the new version to shame.

I love this watch and I wear it very often!

I hope you like my 2 photos.

This is a well-executed piece that is stunning in person.

    Cheers

  8. Hello Gents,

Here are a few more photos that I took.

I have been way too busy these days, so I'm playing catch up.

These photos really show how this watch looks in person.

It's very hard to capture the essence of this complicated piece, but I feel as if these pics do a nice job.

The OEM strap is absolutely gorgeous. The red suede sides, the greyish stitching around the off-black center details, etc. The red is subtle but makes the watch pop just enough whilst on the wrist. Almost subliminally since it is subtle (hard to explain I suppose).

Cheers from a very happy camper! :)

  9. Hey gents, which AP Bands strap is closest to the OEM strap color?

the doctored up photoshop pics of the watch make it look chocolate brown, but looking at real life pics, it seems more dark brown.

I really can't tell, and my local Audemars Piguet dealer obviously does not have this watch in stock to compare (there is a lonely original version white date rubberclad rosegold for $52k).

I've got a spare black hornback that I'll try with the watch, but I would like a brown one like the OEM version.

I would get it with black stitching.

    Your thoughts?

    Thanks!

    PS. @A: an 8 for you? :) I've got an 8 albeit a different Bavarian monster :D
