  1. RK, Great job! I am impressed that you are willing to open the caseback and get to work. Good for you. If you don't mind, let me offer a few tips that may save you some trouble. I see you have the 'Presto' type hand removers. There are many kinds, but these work well. You do need to give them a tune-up, though. I filed the ... what do you call it ... where the two ends meet, I file these almost to a point, like two wide chisels touching at their sharp ends. They still look like chisels, not needles. You can get under the hands easier. But make sure these are super smooth on the 'dial' side. Photobucket is down; remind me and I'll post pictures later. Also, I try to avoid using the JAXA type case openers. These can mess up a case quickly. And finally, look for a movement holder that supports the jewels. When you press on the hands, you can push too hard and shove a pinion into a jewel. AF makes these and I think they are around $30. I have the complete handset and possibly a crown package in stock. I sold the dial and would have to order another. PM me if you are interested ... I am CONUS Again, good job! Mike I have the handset and possibly the crown package.
  2. Sorry guys ... been buried in 3714 case mods. Great news soon. Glad to see HACRA back. Feel free to PM me, I'll respond as soon as I get a chance. Mike
  3. Yes, but they are expensive. IWC does not mark up their 'accessories' much. My guess is that they want you coming back to the AD so they can sell you another watch. Prices will be close to AD, if not the same. But don't take your rep to an AD!
  4. Oh Ye of little faith! 5004, probably, 5002, probably not. These parts are more limited than some 'Limited Edition' series. Last time I checked, 5004 saphire was around $600, dial around $1,000, and handset around $200 ... prices subject to change. WM, I will try for pricing again of the pushers ... I haven't forgotten you! Mike
  5. I know Rolexman works on these, and he is in the EU. And you might ask FixerAndy. Otherwise, take a look where we have our watchsmiths and ask them if they will work on a A7750 sec @ 6. Good luck, Mike
  6. Glenn, I've written alot about this on RG. The short answer is, that if it is serviced correctly and nothing breaks, I think it is reasonable to expect 18+ months. Even with the cost of more frequent services, this is a good value as compared to an IWC cal 79350.
  7. Glenn, You might want to post a WTB, or contact Concpeta. I have them on occasion, before I ship to off to be serviced. The last one I got is not working properly. Know that even if you buy a movement from someone, it will need to be serviced. You could have a 'latest' version. You seem to be avoiding servicing, why?
  8. Surely you must be speaking about some place in Texas ... the largest city in the US Congratulations in the pending nuptials! That is a nice watch, good lines. How about some more pictures? What's the size and does it have a crystal back? Mike
  9. Have it serviced. Make sure they have experience with modified 7750's, though. How old is it? If it is the early version, it is best to replace it with the latest ... and before the question is asked, the only way I can tell is to remove the hands and dial, and the coverplate for the date platform. Mike
  10. I am not sure the A7750 sec @ 6 is what you are looking for. The watch you describe has hands that point to the date in a subdial at 12, and a 24 hour counter at 6. The A7750, or the IWC 79350 for that matter, has a chrono minute counter at 12, and constant seconds at 6. I would say that this is a pretty specific movement, and if it is Asian, it may be difficult to source. You still haven't told us what is wrong with the watch. If you like it, I would suggest having it serviced. If it needs parts, you may be out of luck. Mike
  11. Why wouldn't you just have that one serviced? Or let me ask first, how old is it and what is wrong with it? The last fresh A7750 sec@6 needs work, won't run in all positions. Although the latest movements are improved, I wouldn't say they are better. A, Starting tomorrow! And other good news. Mike
  12. I wonder if some of this work is done with a laser, and they do not burn as deep. Mike
  13. We are being thorough with the details. One time I went to look at a watch, and it was a BAD rep. I started pointing to things on my watch to show her what it was supposed to look like. It is a great feeling to use a rep to expose a rep! It's a great rep ... but always room for improvement.
  14. You know I can take care of that. Just swap the dial and hands. I've sent some people to you needing servicing. Wish you did minor casement ... Mike
  15. PPN, It depends on what you want. If you are planning on sending it to the service center, then it won't pass. But if you are going to wear it to impress the public, it is fine. I have a 3717 Spitfire and the AR is quite appropriate. It is a light, and perfect for the dial. I also have the IWC saphire and was wondering why I spent so much for it ... but it is VERY nice. The 3717 case is one of the most accurate reps. If the flaws bother you that much, I can set you up with IWC parts. Everything is fixable on this watch, it is greatly improved from the first version. If you like it, there's not a good reason not to get it. Case in point, the picture you posted on another thread.
  16. Aya, I took pictures of the saphires for the 3714 today, but I am not satisfied with how they turned out. I put plain rep, an IWC, one done by pbdad, and one by Uwe. I can say that the when you put a IWC saphire next to others, it is much more clear. The saphires that I have been getting are consistent with the rep ones, and have a slight grey cast to them. The IWC did not. I am not sure how noticeable it is on the watch, but laying on a sheet of bright white paper, it is. So far, I have only been able capture the difference in tint, not the color of the crystal. Once I am able to get my camera to capture the transparency, then I will post. But, to answer your question, Taka's crystal should fit. Best to ask him, though. Mike
  17. S, You are so funny. Glad I could help. Let's see pictures when it gets back. And Superlative, good to see you again. You have one of the sharpest eyes I know. One of the best comparisons of Rep and IWC cases is found here. IWC 3717 Flieger Chronograph (Rep vs Gen) I hope you can access it. They did a great job repping this case.
  18. And BP's are much more. That's why suggest AR'ing the rep. At 1/4 the price, it is more reasonable.
  19. Gen saphire is VERY expensive. Last 2 I got was $400, and generally back-ordered. I am going to compare it before I ship it, but I think the IWC saphire might be clearer than the rep, not quite as grey. I have been wanting to photograph these to highlight the difference. Didn't Taka do a comparison where the lighting and angles were consistent?

    IWC Mark XVI

I think the Mark XVI cases were different from the Mark XV cases. I know the IWC XV dial was too small for the rep case, but I am pretty sure the IWC XVI dial fit the rep XVI case. I have the Pilot and Spitfire dials/handsets available for these. Very nice watch! Mike
  21. Wow, that was quick. Nice pictures, too! Have you screwed the crown on the tube? It feels so smooth. You will be reminded of this every time you cinch the crown down ... GZ cannot replicate this. Congratulations Ubi, Mike
  22. Steve, I source IWC parts, and am CONUS. I must apologize, I have not spent much time on the 3719, I have been buried in 3714, 3717, and upcoming 3789 and BP's. But am having more and more request for this and need to get up to speed. What movement do you have in this, Asian or Swiss? From what I am seeing, the date wheel is not the standard ETA, but very close. Chances are good I could get one, let me know. Mike
  23. Thanks Vly. It may be sold, but I can get another one coming, and the German Day wheel ... it's the German Date wheel that I have problems getting. Mike
  24. Looks good. I have a complete handset available. Better get 'em before I find a good home for them.
