It's another 190.
-
OK - I've actually learned enough to identify that as a cal 190 and way too big!
-
Looked everywhere - and it seems Cortebert movements are even more rare than Angelus ones. Can anyone give some advice on where to find suitable Cortebert 616, 618 or 620 movements? Search the 'bay, antique dealers, etc. Looked for pocket watches, Turkish Railroad watches, etc and have yet to see one single movement of these calibers. Any ideas? JB

You're a real star. You didn't save me ANY money. I was outbid on one and wasn't going to buy the other. Plus there were several other people who told me the exact same thing without being a [censored] about it. Some people have offered to help me. OFFERED. How nice is that!!?? And anyone out there with loads of cash - I have two movements for you if you're interested. But you better have deep pockets. (And no - I'm not selling them myself). I will continue my HOBBY of searching for my own movement. Or if someone wants to sell me theirs (or even a finished watch) at a reasonable price (under $2K) then PM me. Cucumber - you're right - you don't know me. But neither do all the other people who offered to help me. Not sure what that says about you. I now know exactly what to look for - and I doubt very much if that knowledge is going to do ANYTHING to affect the price of movements. When I was a moderator myself on a Panerai board - I would answer every question and help anyone who asked on ALL the boards - just because watches are my passion and I am willing to share that with anyone who cares enough to ask - regardless of who they were, how long they had been on that forum or if it ended up costing me money. I can't count the number of free straps or books or screwdrivers or anything else I gave away (or the get-togethers I organized and payed or, etc). As long as I could help others enjoy Panerai as much as me - that was all that mattered. Anyone else - I'm not looking for the perfect non-alarm stem-wound version. I would just like ANY old Angelus that will work in a watch. I'm not fussy. If you've got one to sell - PM me.

Agreed. Sorry.
-
Sorry - but that's just ignorant and elitist. I may not have been here long (as only stumbled across THIS website by mistake) but I can guarantee you I've been a part of the legitimate Panerai world for longer than most people on ANY board. I'll probably never actually get to buy an Angelus movement - but I want to learn more about them. Thank goodness there are people out there willing to help and who are not so selfish as some people I've come across here.
-
Well - I've asked several people and read everything I could find on Angelus movements and clocks and such - and no one is talking. Everyone covering their own ass. We've got guys here with 4 or more movements - and they still won't give clues to anyone on how to find the right one. But I think I've found a movement now. From someone who actually knows what they are doing and is willing to help.

Hmnnn.... Well - the value of Panerais does not plummet as quickly as some other brands of watches - especially if you don't pay full retail. I have bought and sold many Panerais - and none of them dropped in value from what I originally paid. Some even increased in value. Especially as Panerai rasie their prices every year - it means the same watch you bought just a few months ago is now selling for MORE on the retail market - and therefore it helps drive up the used prices as well. Finally - just follow a few simple guidelines when buying used and you should be OK: buy the seller (meaning buy from someone with a good reputation) and ask for references (preferably post a reference check on one of the Panerai boards) and make sure you get some references from well-known people. Plus - we're all on a replica board - you would think we should be able to stop a fake!
-
Yes - you will have pay taxes and/or duty. BUT - how much will depend on who ships it and how they declare it. The lower the declared value - the less taxes you will pay. No matter how you do it - you will save a lot of money by ordering from the US. Check out the for sale ads on Paneristi.com for your best shot at finding what you want at the best price.
-
I don't think it will increase greatly in value. There were a fair number made. But I also don't think you'll lose money in the deal. Just make sure to get all the boxes and papers and accessories and keep them safe. Buy the watch becasue you like it and want to wear it - not because you want to make money off it.

I have purchased many GEN PAms over the years - and never bought from an AD. Mostly because I was living in Canada and the prices were outrageous. I did once purchase from the Panerai Boutique in Hong Kong - and saved a fortune in taxes when I had it shipped to a friend in the US. Anyway - buy used. Unless you plan to purchase many of these watches and want to forma relationship with your AD. SOME Panerais will increase in value - but very few of the new ones. It's mostly the ones that have been around already for a while. And mostly special editions. Anything Pre-V or Pre-A or even some A and B series. Recent Special Editions are a waste of time. I think the only watch in the last few years that has gone up in value is the 127. You won't lose a lot in value if you buy used (or even NEW - just not from an AD). And buy from the USA - good value for money right now. PM me if you need any advice on who to buy from or have any questions. I used to moderate on a Panerai board so know most of the good sellers, etc. JB

It's a travel alarm clock - not a desk clock. Trying to find out the size of the casing (or the rear metal casing that holds the movement). just wondering if anyone recognizes it right off as a viable clock to salvage the movement.
-
For those that know about Angelus movements... Does anyone know - just by looking at this picture - if it will have a suitable movement in it? (for a watch)... THANKS!
-
Not really mid-week any more - but I'm wearing the new 202 Beast.
-
Ok - will try this from a different angle... All dealers out there: can you tell me if it's possible to get a new bezel for a PAM202? Thanks in advance!
-
Fugly. Sorry.
-
Still looking for any advice...
-
Where are you getting an EL Perfect 127 for 2xx? Thought it was closer to 4xx!!?? (At least a high 3xx)
-
Also on replicacollector. Not sure if this link will work: http://www.replicacollector.com/members/in...p?showforum=182

From your pics and description - it looks like you got a PAM217 - and not a 127. At least the case, back and movement are from a 217. Perhaps the dial was just swapped in? Also - I could be wrong - but it's my understanding that the Swan Neck is simply the little adjuster dial on the movement. I've taken your photo and circled the Swan Neck in yellow. So - even though your watch has the incorrect bridges - it still has a Swan Neck - no?
-
I'm no expert - but I've been reading on PAM127's myself a lot recently - and it seems that the Puretime version has the E0581 case. I've read that this case is completely wrong. And that the dial is way off too (font and colour). Can anyone comment?
-
Don't forget EL's perfect 127! Almost perfect movement - saphire front and back with light AR. Fully functional Swan Neck. BUT cannon pin needs to be fixed and could use a good re-lume.
-
OK - will try this from a different approach as no one answered me before. Just got a PAM 202 rep - and one of the bezel markers (at "30") is not set correctly. It's about 10° off from being straight. This question would go for ANYONE that has owned a Panerai Sub (or at least the ones with bezel marker dots). Anyone know if it's possible to get the markers off and have it re-set straight? More iportantly - do you have to remove the bezel to get the little dots off? Any other ideas? Thanks in advance...
