  1. To be honest, I don't tend to rotate my watches much, so I'm wearing the same as I was monday. Crappy pic of a crappy watch, but I like it :thumbsupsmileyanim:

    Oneday it'll look good :yeah:

Don't knock it mate !! - I have one and with all the other (better) reps I own, I still like my old black SMP with an asian auto - it's like a comfy pair of slippers !! :thumbsupsmileyanim:

  2. bugger!

there was a mix-up and the watch was posted to a customer in Utah, USA instead of London, UK!!

the other customer will hopefully agree to forward on to me and Andrew will re-imburse the costs but does anyone know of the best way to courier watches to the UK without customs hassle?

    ----update

the other customer is annoyed and won't forward to me

Andrew is going to resend, but now its chinese new year :(

    oh well

I had exactly the same problem - ordered an 007 SMP from Silix-Prime and they sent it to another guy in the UK. I ended up with his watch - a Bell & Ross Chrono ! He decided he liked my SMP so much he kept it ! To make matters worse, it was last one Silix-Prime had (Bummer !!). I sent the B&R back and swapped it for an Orange PO (45mm) which is a nice watch. I am 5' 9" and I don't think it looks too rediculous on me but I still prefer my 42mm PO that I already had from Paul at Wo-Mart.

  3. I bought a 42mm (black bezel/orange numbers) from Paul at Wo-Mart - It's a fantastic watch and (to my untrained eye), appears t have very good AR. According to Paul's website it has an ETA2824 movement and is a lot cheaper than Josh or Andrew. :thumbsupsmileyanim:

Incidentally, I have also just received a 45.5mm Orange bezel PO from Silix-Prime and I actually prefer the 42mm !

  4. No real difference, almost the same movement.

2836 can provide day and date, while 2824 can only provide date. I belive there also is a slight difference in the teoretical power reserve. On eta.ch you can download the spec sheets for all eta movements.

Thanks for your advice chrgod - Much appreciated :thumbsupsmileyanim: :thumbsupsmileyanim:

  5. I've just ordered a 45mm PO from Jay & Angel and they told me (after they sent it) that it comes (as standard) with a Swiss ETA 2836 movement but if I wanted, I could have it with a Swis ETA 2824..What is the difference? Am I better off sticking with the 2836 or send it back to get the 2824?

Please help a poor confused non-horologist !

  6. My buddy and I wore my asian and swiss PO's to the gym tonight, and after our workout, hit the hot tub and pool. Both are Salt Water, and the pool is very cold and the hot tub is 105 degrees. Well, we went back and forth pool to hot tub and on and on probably 5 times over the course of an hour. That was 4 hours ago, and they are both tight as a drum and dry as a bone. Both are also keep damn accurate time. I only gained a minute over the period of 4 weeks.

By the way, Andrew has been a dream to deal with.

    Cheers!

    Bryan

Decided to give the bracelet of my asian SMP (also bought from Andrew - Top Bloke !) a bit of a scrub under the tap and splashed a little water on the crystal and the back - the inside of the crystal steamed up a few minutes after I had dried the outside !! A few minutes on a hot radiator soon sorted it out but I won't be doing that again in a hurry !! Since then, I am terrified of going anywhere near water with any of my reps !!

  7. I ordered a watch from Andrew before Christmas and it never arrived - Parcelforce "lost" it. Although the address was correct, they said the postcode was incorrect so they couldn't deliver it and then it just "went missing" (never to be seen again !). Their excuse was that they take on temporary drivers at Christmas time and some are not very good ! (one of them is probably wearing MY watch !!). Andrew replaced it (nice chap !!)

I ordered another watch from Andrew the other day and I tracked it on EMS from Shanghai to Coventry in 4 days (including a weekend !!). Again, part of the address was missing so it took a further 2 days for me to get it from Parcelforce. Surely, if they have an address it doesn't matter if the postcode is slightly wrong - they can work it out ?? and surely, if they have an accurate postcode, it shouldn't matter if the address is slightly out - they can work it out ?? - Seems not - it's just too difficult !! A watch can travel thousands of miles from China to the UK with no problems but the good old UK postal service can't mannage the last few miles !! It is so frustrating when you have been tracking it all the way and then it doesn't arrive !!

[i'm not sure why Andrew's shippers keeping cocking up my address but that's anther story...!!]

Am I alone or has anyone else fallen foul of the crap UK postal delivery service ?? Do other countries share the same poor service ?? :g::angry:

  8. That may be in Greece but all through Asia (Japan excluded) you will find not only stores but entire malls dedicated to selling nothing but fake goods. Watches, purses, shoes, jeans, electronics, DVDs etc. ALL FAKE. Prices are incredibly low, often quality is incredibly low as well, but they are fun to check out.

    And Turkey !!....

  9. My thoughts exactly. However, some slight glaring does occur under certain lighthing conditions, which I have been unable to confirm with the genuine. I actually wanted the new SMP regular (red lettering Omega), but since I was told that reps woudn't be coming out until the start of this year (late January-February), I took a chance on this one (had to have my Bond Casino Royale collection fix).

Also, please note that this rep is the model sold by Paul (although I sourced from another dealer), with the better caseback (almost perfect - correct gun 007 logo, not a rehash of the 40 years edition, serial number, but does not have the other markings), dial and logo (the logo has very slight feet , undistinguashable). The only issues I can identify is that there is a gap between the date window and the 3 o'clock marker, which shouldn't be there (and is not present in some of the other reps), the bracelet comes with screws instead of pins and to short crown guards (as in other SMP's). I initially took it to the AD for resizing of the bracelet, and the technician was initially fooled by it, until he saw the bracelet and the SCREEWWWSSS. Afterwards, he was blown away by it.

All in all, for those looking to update your SMP to the Co-Axial Bond, this is a pretty decent rep. I also recommend the SMP Professional GMT.

I will make a new attempt at photography, and hope to be posting new picks soon.

At last - someone actually admits to liking it! I posted a couple of threads about the new 007 and it was slated !! It definately grows on you but maybe not as quickly as other SMP models. Here's a few of pictures of the gen:

  10. This looks like they yanked out an instrument cluster from the dash of an airplane and strapped it to your wrist.

It looks the size of a wall clock. Why does this look so much bigger (way bigger) than a Fiddy? Anyone with a 7.5 inch wrist shot?

    Usil

Sorry, I only have a 7" wrist ! This is my BR 01-94 Chrono. I've only put it on for these shots so if you want it please PM me - I've decided it's not for me...

Sorry about the awful blurry shots - my first attempt !!
