  1. Hey Saz, when you bought your Planet Ocean Rep, do the "trick" when screwing the crown in. You apply light pressure while turning the crown "backwards", then you should feel the threads aligning (little click they say) and just then you turn it clockwise and screw it on. I didn't use this forum "trick", maybe it would have helped a bit. Regards, Bernie
  2. Hi, No problem with setting time or winding the watch (some Automatics can be wound others not, like Seiko or Orient). Also setting the date is no problem. The crown functions ok, it is just not "screwable" anymore. This is a cosmetic thing, because replicas are not waterproof like gens. If it would happen on a gen watch, you could not dive / swim anymore, because of the crown not being screwed tight. So the watch works very well, it is just the look that sucks a bit, because the crown doesn't sit "right" (you see a bit of the stem, but not much). As it is a replica and was never waterproof, it is just as functional as before, but ....the look Regards, Bernie
  3. Hi, The Sub is a timeless classic, not only keeps, but increases in value. The Speedmaster is also an absolute classic - "the NASA Moonwatch". Why don't you try a good Asia 7750 Rep AP Safari and you'll see if it bores you over the time. When it is a good Replica you'll get a feeling for the watch and then you can perhaps easier find a decision. I would prefer 2 watches over 1 - of course only if it would be watches of such class. Regards, Bernie
  4. Hi, Sorry - did see your post right now. The movement is really great, although it is the cheap DG4813, but after I adjusted it, it runs very accurate (before also ok, 12 secs +). The watch is so beautiful and overall well built, BUT BEWARE: The Chinese did use a shitty soft metal for the crown threads, so my crown doesn't screw anymore - this is a well known problem with this watch. Regards, Bernie
  5. Hi, The Ultimate Planet Ocean (UPO) is a great looking watch, but it has a serious flaw - the threads for the crown. Even if you do the "Trick" written here in the forum with the backwinding under pressure and then winding the crown, it won't help in my opinion. You will have to replace the crown and threads! I have the 42mm UPO and I unscrewed my crown 3 times - doesn't screw anymore - no grip -shitty metal! Regards, Bernie
  6. Hi, in the Omega forum you can see my post where I show some pics of a really beautiful (5th Gen? - no happy feet) Planet Ocean Replica. I really like this watch, but I knew trouble had to come... It was only after I bought the watch, that I read here about the problems members had with this watches' threads. I cannot comprehend why the chinese which often do some really good work for the money are not "able" to use some better metal for the fu..ing threads! I only unscrewed the crown 3 times and it just happend - can't be screwed on again! Now I know of so called Franken watches and workarounds and I hope there is some cheap one, but I cannot recommend this watch to any noob, because of this frustration. I have a Panerai replica which is flawless and must emphasize that it is possible to build decent threads for a reasonable price. My Orient 5 Deep is flawless, as is my Invicta 8926C (I know...this is the Rep world and we all have to lower our expectations...) By the way, is this a typical "Planet Ocean problem" or are the threads of Sea Dwellers and Submariners also this crappy? I am really annoyed by this thread thing and my next Reps are all PAMs - (so sad cause I was longing for a Superocean Heritage, but here also THREADS ) Regards (from a sad ) Bernie
  7. Hi, this is the 42mm version. I was always thinking about buying a PO Replica, but the "happy feet" deterred me from doing it. I saw this watch on Josh's site and it was advertised very well. No happy feet, the purple tone of the AR coating etc... - so I could not resist. It was only later that I heard of some problems these watches have (the threads), but so far all is well. Of course I envy the technically skilled guys here which built themselves so called "Frankens". Regards, Bernie
  8. Hi, Appreciate the nice feedback from you guys...man these watches can be so addictive! Regards, Bernie
  9. Hi, I just wanted to show some pics of my new acquisition here. I am new to Reps and this is my second one (from Josh). I find it to be an excellent Rep, but I bet that some of you experienced guys will find "flaws" (differences compared to the real thing). I fell in love with this watch and it keeps accurate time. I hope the pics are enjoyable - I am not an experienced photographer...By the way, on the first picture the watch looks a bit tight-fitting, mainly because of the shadow below. It sits a bit tight, but not that much as it looks. I was amazed when I got the watch that it has not a fine-adjustment on the clasp and immediately searched the web to find out that this is also true for the Gen! Regards, Bernie
  10. Hi, nicely done...I like the lower one with the Omega more, the dark blue on the upper and right half gives it more "deepness"... Regards, Bernie
  11. Hello, I am new to Replicas, but I always loved mechanical watches. My Panerai Replica is very accurate with its Asian 6497 and I think the Chinese quality is increasing fast... To all you who think you have seen it all and think about old times - maybe you miss a challenge. Here in Germany where I live it is a pain in the .... with customs. I have to choose triangle-shipment and my ordered Omega watch is lying since one full week in England and I hate it. I wish I would be bored a bit, but I am waiting so anxiously for it to arrive. Regards, Bernie
