Nice! If you go for it, then word of advice, be sure to use a little loc-tite to secure the screws on the bezel arrow markers and the bracelet screws.

I've had zero problems with my Blackbird.

Thanks for the advice guys. Will suggest the caseback clean to get of the rouge, and the hypoallergenic cream. The Agnelli look won't work if you like short shirt sleeves!

Have to agree on the BR02. I have the SS version from Josh and it's great. I have the A21J cheapo version and had no problems. I think all of the Cartel get them from the same factory.

Only regret is I should have got the dot markers version not the numeral ones. Numerals are a teeny tiny bit too far from the edge of the bezel.Great watch for $128.

I made a new friend at work and got him sold on the beauty of a good mechanical watch. He got some inheritance money and has just got himself a gen Longines hydroconquest sub. Previously he wore a titanium beater with no problems, but since his pride and joy arrived his wrist is all blotchy.

Is there anything you can coat the bracelet / caseback with to reduce the reaction?

Exactly what I wanted to know. I was at Geneva airport and had a chance to see a Gen Classic fusion, but only in the display. My wrist will take a Panny fairly well so your comparison is helpful. Thanks!

I have 7" wrist and I got a Big Bang Green Magic earlier this year. I sold it on because I could not get a comfortable fit and it felt too top heavy.

I have been thinking to get either a 45mm classic fusion, or even wear the ladies 38mm classic fusion (don't laugh)

I notice from the specs that a 45mm classic fusion is quite a bit thinner than the HBB, and the caseset it a bit less less edgy than the HBB. Does it wear more comfortably?

I finally got my Pyrolume navigator watch back from the receivers after the watch repair store I took it to went bust. I had already ordered a spare asian 6497 movement so I decided to try swapping the movements myself.

The swapout went well (dinged the lume on the dial a tiny bit but still looks okay) and I reinserted the original crown. I have never been happy with the 'flushness' of fitting of the crown since I got it.

Now if I wind the watch and leave it on my nightstand the watch keeps good time. If I put it on my wrist then after a while the hands fail to move on, even though the movement seems to be running. If I pull out the crown and update the hand positions all is well for a while and then it happens again.

Interestingly exactly the same thing was happening before the movement failed last time.

I suspect it is something to to with the crown stem.

Any ideas what to do?

Have you seen the Ocean 1 Green. A very very nice homage of an LV but a little bigger at 42mm and with superluminova. Even the clasp is nice looking!

I had looked at these before going with a Certina Ti Diver

Lume on these (including bezel numerals) is amazing.

However I do not like the way the strap attaches to the case - looks a bit flimsy. Also the Blue stitching & CF effect is to my eye a bit out of keeping with the rest of the watch design.

Be interested to know how you get on with your bit of Polish trinketry!

I think TAG have a nice spread of watches. In the UK their Quartz models come into the 'High Street' brands section, so lots of jeweller chains will carry them. This means people have seen them and would recognise them as a quality item, but equally if you have a high end TAG no-one is going to rip your arm off to swipe it off you (at least not round where I live anyways).

I have an F1 Daydate which is a really nice watch. The finish on it is very good and the bracelet is *by far* the most comfortable of all my watches.

If a Panerai is a Lamborghini, and a Rolex is a Bentley, a Tag is probably an Audi.

That Stormchaser is just awesome. I see what you mean about needing a 'movie' mode.

The Certina has yet to arrive but I have heard very good things about them. They are slowly expanding their dealership.

This week I came across two lovely watches to add to my collection. First is a straightforward Luminox GTL Watch, which I can see in the dark with my glasses off because of the tritium.

Second is a Certina titanium diver watch, which given I can't afford a titanium seamaster is the next best thing. Prices are similar to that of a good rep.

Must be going soft in the head!

Please share my pain.

I have a very pretty Pyrolume aviator watch with an asian 6497 movement which has not worked smoothly since I got it last autumn. It finally gave up the ghost before Christmas so I took it into the local branch of my watch repair service. The guy says the movement is toast and I need a new one, so I get one from Fleabay as Pyrolume seems to not be trading.

I take the movement in before Christmas and he says he'll swap them over no problem.

I ring last week to check on progress and the phone keeps ringing. Got busy with work and forgot to try again.

I try again this week and still no answer. I ring their other branch a few miles away as the repair guy travels between three branches.

The lady who picks up the phone explains she is doing up the store at the moment as the watch repair shops went bankrupt. Very kindly she gives me the number of a liquidator who is dealing with the case.

I phone them up and give them the work number on my repair ticket. She says she will look through the materials they have for the store and try and find my watch. She warned me it would take a long time though, and she had no idea what state the watch would be in.

It's a shame as the guy was really friendly and I have taken watches in for resizing/ seals/ batteries for around 5 years now.

Kind of silly question this ...

Do any genuine watch brands use A7750 movements? I just ordered a Luminox as my first GTL watch, and I noticed that their top of the line automatic model uses a 7750 movement. They say they are using Swiss 7750's but I didn't think ETA would sell them any more.

I would try and squeeze a PI in there somewhere, given that wrist perimeter and wrist surface are related!

Of course, you would need to perform a regression analysis of your formula by being given hundreds of different gen watches to try out and see how well they conform to your formula.

Then, to validate your regression analysis, you would need to be given hundreds of rep watches and repeat the exercise.

Man - I feel a grant application coming along.

Mine still sound sweet. A little sibilant from some sources, but on my Galaxy S2 they sound great.

And yes I paid with Paypal.

I like the IWC Ti (I think now you can only get the Ingy), but the funny bead blast finish is weird looking. I prefer the polished TI cases.

From someone who definitely still considers himself a noob.

The main take home points from Pho about RWG for me were

We have 2 purposes.

1 enjoy the community, discuss watches and learn from each other.

2. Be organized so overall we have the purchasing power to keep dealers honest. As a courtesy we advise newbs. It's not a right, it's a courtesy.

Isn't this the crux of the point? I think we all benefit from participating in RWG in these two purposes. There is sooooo much information to be found on RWG. My experience and satisfaction from buying reps has changed immeasurably since someone recommended I join. When people like By-tor, Ubi & Lani share their experiences with exhaustive writeups it helps everyone, whether it is rep purchase no.1 or no.1001. I am also sure that mentioning RWG on a first purchase tells the dealer you have at least done some homework.

What Pho is commenting on is observations on the content of the site and how it's changed over 6 years or so. LIke the other content on the board, you are welcome to learn from it or leave it. Personally I think summary posts and didactic 'opinions' are quite useful because the content of the board has mushroomed to such a vast size.

The only thing I am not sure about is the issue of modding. I think that the most important person your rep has to satisfy is the owner. For some people (like me) that means choosing well and wearing items pretty mcuh OOB. For others it means lume and new crystals, and for others it is teh start of the dark art of uber-modding. We all find our own level, and I (for my wallet's sake) am happy I found mine.

Recently have found it uncomfortable to wear some of my bigger top heavy watches for long periods - must be all that weight I've lost on my new year's resolution.

I've also noticed that even on heavier watches I get on much better with Tang buckles than deployants.

I am looking for a lightweight rep that is as comfortable as my LV Sub which I can leave on all day and not notice it is there.

I am looking next at a Pam 286J on a leather strap with Pre-V buckle, a Rolex Cellini (but the Quartz movement is putting me off), or <blush> the 38mm ladies Hublot Classic fusion ceramic.

Any feedback on these three?
