  1. Asian 21J movement is really excellent. I have many many watches using it and one actually keeps time to +/- 3 secs per week. Yes, you read that correctly. They come clean, oiled, and are well-made. I have only good things to say about the movement.... its robust and reliable; at least, according to personal experience.
  2. I think you should spring for an ETA if you want your timepiece to last a long time. The cheaper models make good novelty gifts, that's all I can think of...
  3. I don't think these are solid... I guess if I wanted solid gold I would just add a few hundred bucks and get the gen! But I am leaning towards the TT myself too...
  4. I already have an Omega SMP Chronometer and a Panerai Luminor 44mm Power Reserve.... The vintage Rollies are OK, but are suspicious to wear as well - who owns a completely flawless wristwatch from the 1950s or 1960s with absolutely no wear and tear on any of the parts? So far the consensus seems to point to the two-tone...
  5. It's like a Movado... except it's a.... Rado? Reminds me kind of:
  6. Hello friends, Lately, I've been seriously considering a submariner. However, I am torn between the full gold and two-tone version. The main difference between the two is that full uses a thin plate of 18K gold while TT has a thicker 14K wrap - it would be a watch I would wear frequently. The prices are even almost identical, too. If you were in my position, which one would you get? (Of course, if you think I'm making a mistake altogether, and would like to recommend a watch other than a submariner, I'd like to hear your opinion as well.) TWO-TONE: above: genuine FULL-GOLD: above: genuine I look forward to hearing your opinions on the matter!
  7. Don't be afraid. "Fading gold" is sort of like an urban legend with regards to these reps... it sustains its credibility because it logically makes sense that a relatively thin layer of gold might dissapear... but believe it or not, it's not true. I own gold reps with the standard 18K "5mil" plating from Joshua and NONE have shown any fading. The only problem with gold is the weight, but if you can live with that, then it's more power to you. I say again: don't be afraid of gold. Gold is your friend.
  8. This makes me want to get a rep of that. Can someone tell me if that "8 giorni brevettato" circle is supposed to do anything? For instance is the power reserve days left supposed to appear inside of it? Or is it just a big white circle for decoration? Regarding the price; like I said, it's a fun and goofy rep for any collection. Hey, I can place it beside my new $1,000,000 Patek and they can be friends!
  9. I had this with one of my recent purchases from a dealer in the UK. The tracking updated once to say that "item was handed over for shipping to Canada" and it still says that even though it was delivered about a week ago. Don't worry, that package will come soon! (I know, it's so hard to be patient in the last days before getting something special!!)
  10. Nothing beats having that coveted "VIP" around one's member name...
  11. So will TTK be getting more of these watches or what?
  12. I would definitely recommend a quartz whatever.
  13. You guys are ruthless! That chicken... scares me :p
  14. For those of you who think there is no such thing as quality control, I can tell you now- it's not true. Joshua decided not to ship out one of my watches because he caught a mistake with the alignment of the hands. I was very impressed, because it shows he is a good honest person. There is quality control with the right people, I believe... As for the comments regarding postal service; yes, very true... some postal workers are inherantly violent individuals.
  15. I'll set these chickens up ASAP, but for now I have bigger problems... I just received my order of watches I bought and while one was in the box, the other was nowhere to be found :-O
  16. I was thinking something more along the lines of...
  17. I'm not a huge Tudor fan. It's the 'porsche boxter' or 'bmw 300-series' of watches. It shows people that you have a taste for the good stuff, but can't afford the really good stuff just yet.
  18. The problem with these is that the bezel ceases rotation after a very short period of time. My question is where I can purchase those hang tags and accessories.
  19. Joshua sells the 14K sub doesn't he?
  20. Wow. What can I say? It's definitely neat that you were able to carry out the modifications by yourself, but I think the style is a little too much for me. Too much orange..
  21. Admin, thanks for the surprise treat! I am holding up my ends of the bargain. What should be my new flag?
  22. I'll get you pictures, don't worry... It's not meant to be passed of as real, it's supposed to be 'just for fun'. Besides, I wear an accurate Panerai replica that has a believable price tag and nobody (I mean NOBODY) has ever made a single comment about it. Most people just don't know these brands, but it's fun to have one in the collection anyway.
  23. TTK, Thanks for your reply. If you do receive some more of these pieces could you inform me? I have been looking for that watch for, let's just say, a very long time!
  24. Hi, I really want to buy this watch I found in his photo album. I have sent him a pm and an e-mail asking for the price, payment instructions, and technical specs of the timepiece. He has not replied to either, but has since then made new posts thus signifying he is still here... what would you recommend? How did you other members successfuly initiate a purchase from TTK?
  25. You wouldn't be the first or the only buyer to purchase an $800+ dollar rep. There were members long before you shelling out this kind of money (and still are) for Swiss 7750 chrono Daytonae. I know for a fact that Joshua has moved a couple of the skeleton tourbillions - including the epic $988 Breguet! Replicas are getting more and more common these days, and I'm afraid the only way to show off money will soon have to be buying elaborate versions of them. This is, I'm not going to lie, one of the most beautiful and functionally most useful watches I have ever seen. Not only is it one of the few tourbillions, but it is among the fewest of the few with a working power reserve (always useful) and a date-calendar with easy push button setting. The skeletonised caseback is also an intriguing addition helping to show off the expensive movement inside. The little viewhole in the front will display the breathtaking mix of nature and machine as the tourbillion pivots around while spinning - it will be a sight to behold. I strongly recommend you get this watch; it is something I would get instantly if I was in your position. You can get an infinite number of Rolex replicas etc... but none will compare to the overall 'presence' of a piece like this. This is something that a watch lover could stare at for years... its beauty is far more elaborate than those pictures make it out to seem. If you can afford it, this is a great watch to buy. Some members will bring forth the argument that 'you could have 10 $98' watches for that price... and while this is true, none of those will ever come close to the 'WOW' factor of this beautiful vacheron. I hope that one day I'll own one, too...
