  1. How about Ferrari Daytona replicas? You know the "Miami Vice" model (which actually WAS a replica). Those originals are so rare and expensive that you have to be a NHL/NBA player or Hollywood movie star to be able to buy one.

If you enjoy the design and are passionate about something... why not? Equivalent in the watch world is probably the Paul Newman Daytona. Not affordable to general public.

They even have a community for the replicas. I wonder what Ferrari owners think about them...

  2. Unfortunately for the next 9.9 pages, there were not over three worthwhile posts commenting on the watch, the perils of a build like this, and the ramifications of these in the real world. It certainly shows to me the diminished watch intelligence of a large number of Rolex Forum members.

    Good point.

I remember their "Fake Busters" squat team back in the day. There were two posers who were reporting perfectly legit watches as fakes on several Ebay auctions. When I politely told them that they were wrong and those watches were 100% legit I was suddenly the bad guy.

Never went back. There are some very knowledgeable people but most of them know nothing about Rolex.

  3. Bruins had size, best goalie in the NHL (Rask), great defensive-minded system (a lot similar that Kings used last year) and hardcore, gritty forwards... and probably the scariest guy in modern hockey, Chara.

Jagr was supposed to be their sniper... but he's 41 years old and while he played good playoffs he scored ZERO goals. They generated possession and moved the puck great in the offensive zone but in the finals they didn't have that "one guy" who could make the difference. All Cup winners always have had that... Yzerman in Detroit, Modano in Dallas, Lemieux in Pittsburg, Selanne in Anaheim, Gretzky in Edmonton, etc. Hawks had Kane, Sharp and Bickell.

True Krejci, Lucic and Horton scored a lot in the playoffs but not that much against the Hawks.

  4. @Doc: Yep... that certainly looks like it's for an older (pre 2003) 16710. And that diameter is different. If that's the case then good news is that it's very easy to sell.

I don't remember if some 1675 inserts came with the Serif though... make a simple Google image search and see if you can find examples.

  5. thebestsub.nl is a site I ran into while looking for purchasing a Submariner 116610. I am a noob but I have been doing some research.

The watches here seem to have the correct rehaut engraving, the hour markers seem good with correct size and borders, the cyclops seem to project the date at 2.5 times. The descriptions of the watch on the site are very thorough and have close up pictures as well as a video. The watch runs on a ETA 2836-2 movement with pictures to show that it isnt a clone, which I'm okay with. The bracelet has that hairline finish with no polished links like bad reps have. The guys who run this website also disclose that these watches are from their supplier in Guangzhou, perhaps one of the TDs on this forum?

Apologize for any noob remarks but hoping you guys can help out with this.

    Thank-you

    YES. FINALLY! THE PERFECT SUB!

    ARE YOU THE CHOSEN ONE... M3553NG3R 53L3CT3D BY 7H3 53CR37 CoUNC1L?

    Yawn.... thread closed.

  6. That watch was a serious candidate for some heavy duty frankening. It had all fundamentals correct. The rehaut and crystal construction were gen-like. It even had correct crown position.

For some reason it never got the respect it deserved.

Perhaps the incorrect hand stack was pushing people away from it?

My ExpII was with the correct stack though. It worked fine but then I never touched the independent hour hand setting. Sold it a long time ago. I loved the watch but the old ExpII wore too small for me... I have big wrists (and had even bigger when I was still training heavy).

I like the new 42mm version and the rep looks really nice. But perhaps not quite enough to get one. :) Much nicer than the GMT & Sub upgrades anyway.
