BT, I get the sense that you're still waiting for it to grow on you. You're not raving about it like the Skyland etc. I was like that too. After all the anticipation of waiting for it, and it finally arriving, I knew straight away that it would take a bit of time.

Actually no. I like it a lot. I tried to write the review with a neutral attitude, from a "members' view" because I know how much some people loathe this watch.

Frankly, I don't fully understand it. The big pearl, for example, looks much better in person and I actually LIKE it now that I have the watch. The replication and the pearl accuracy is superb... if the execution were sloppy, it would probably ruin the whole watch. But no... it's great, smooth and symmetric. Even in huge zoomed photos. I'm really surprised how well they made it.

In my eyes this is more flashy BCE... it wears similarly but sparkles and shines more. The dial numerals look amazing in daylight... very flashy. I found the BCE a bit boring to be honest. At least the stick version... and as I said the lume sticks aren't that great on reps. Those bothered me 10 times more than the recessed dw does... BCE sticks are a good example of a sloppy dial execution and typical rep quality. I'm surprised that people don't mind... but they're absolutely obsessed about recessed DW, or those small Skyland lume dots... you can't even see those Skyland dot misalignment with a naked eye. Like I said, the build quality has become my first priority with reps. It's much more important than small accuracy issues.

Like I said, my only beef is the new style of Pilot bracelet which has no SELs. The new Bentley 6'75 uses it too. I haven't gotten used to it yet... but since this watch has SO many little characteristics that none of my other watches have, I don't mind.

I think it's a keeper. I think you should stick with yours too.

I think Skyland v2 AR coating is incredible. It's almost as great as my gen Fish.

However it also has blue hue, whereas my gen Fish is more like purple. But it's not that apparent on either.

BCE v3 and my new B01 don't have as great 2xAR. It's good and very decent on both but not as strong as the Skyland.

PS: I suspect the factory made the replica blue Fish based on a picture that had purple AR coating reflecting... thus, the blue dial became totally inaccurate blue (read: violet blue).

Damn that's so beautiful. If I ever buy another gen Rollie it will be that one.

This was the biggest watch release for Breitling, maybe in its entire brand history (due to the new inhouse movement).

But you're right, you don't hear much about it. Not in gen or rep forums. Gens I understand as it's very expensive watch but the rep is only a few hundred bucks and extremely well done.

Maybe the design takes some time to adapt from the fans, or then it'll be a huge flop.

I don't really care either way. I like it.

They are making a new version of Planet Ocean 42mm. We don't know when it comes out but it's supposed to be great. I would wait for that one before making a purchase.

Yeah I know what you mean.

It might be blingy but not even nearly as "ostentatious" as something like Two-tone Rolex Submariner, for example. That's the only watch I felt a bit embarrassed of wearing... it was just too much.

This is just steel bling, which doesn't quite qualify to the Pimp Club, imho.

One thing still: The bracelet had 2-3 stiff middle links as usual, and oiling and bending/twisting these problematic links for 100-200 times fixed all problems with it. It's now smooth as silk and feels like the gen. It's very nice, heavy and substantial bracelet.

But of course it requires the usual rep bracelet treatment, I didn't even bother to mention it in the review.

I think this is all BS. I've been waiting for "V5" since 2006.

Patience my friend. In the old days, when people ordered reps from TTK for Christmas presents, they never knew whether Neil was supposed to ship the watches for Christmas 2005 or 2006.

I'm sure this will come out eventually. Chinese factories don't post any previews, ever. And then one day they might just pop up.

You can "smooth" the rep bracelet edges nicely with a matchstick that has sandpaper wrapped around it.

I suggest you throw the whole bracelet to an oil can overnight.

But even after these tricks the rep bracelet will never feel exactly like the gen. I don't know why, maybe the gen midlink tolerances are just so much better.

But then again, is it really a big deal? That's why they're called "reps"... and that's why they cost $4000 less.

Try to get v1 SELs, they fit almost perfectly to WM9. At least they were a perfect fit for mine. Correct recess, 99% correct fit.

WM9 Sub is so good that it's unrealistic to think that it could possibly get any better. I will get a gen insert installed for mine soon.

The gen bracelet just as light as the rep. How could there be any significant difference as they're both same measurements and made of stainless steel?

The only difference is the silky feel on the gen, and the "soft" edges. I don't know why the rep Rolex bracelets never get that exact same feel (despite oiling them). It's weird. But it's not a big deal and not worth stressing about.

Actually this was the "most skilled hockey players ever", not just NHL.

I agree it was a good list but someone from the old Soviet Union "Red Army Team" should have been there... Harlamov, Petrov, Mikhailov, Maltsev... they had some insanely skilled guys. In the Challenge Cup 1979 they won NHL All Stars 6-0.

That was hell of a team.
