  1. Thanks all.

@cougaree: The dials are completely "hit and miss" regardless of the version. I've seen both v2's and v3's with broken lume dots. I wouldn't order this watch from a dealer myself (unless he posts a picture of your actual shipped watch). Wait for a member trade where you can see the dots.

    I don't think v3 has any advantages over v2.

  2. @Red: What kind of lightbox you have? I use a white plastic transparent flower pot. The light comes through the walls perfectly even. 2 lights on the sides, one on the roof. I often set the roof light height and angle by a hand (while checking the photo on the camera preview window). I've seen lots of partially nice pics where the dial has been completely forgotten. When the dial and bezel doen't get enough light you'll get noise.

Here is an old photo thread which might give you some ideas. :good:

  3. Crystal and rehaut are disappointing

    Indeed.

There is nothing "super" about that replication, it was a big disappointment and the crystal/rehaut profile looks fundamentally wrong. The SELs look like shite too (at least on that rep in the picture). End pieces are rounded and there is no recess... probably bit of a "hit and miss" though.

Gen on the left, rep on the right.

I think it's actually the WORST Rolex rep that ever came out from the Noobfactory.

  4. People have posted lots of photos in HUGE resolutions lately. They take forever to load, even with a standard 2Meg connection. There's absolutely no reason to post/embed images larger than 1024 x 768, unless it's a special decorated wallpaper or such.

Whenever I see a post that has say, 10 gigantic sized pictures... some of them have been over 4000x, even I just press the backspace and go back to the previous page. Waiting the page to load for 2 minutes is just too much. Not to mention people who have slower connections.

I understand that not all people have Photoshop, but even a freeware Irfanview is capable of resizing the images.

This is not a complaint... just a suggestion. Please don't post 'em straight out of the camera but resize your pics for nicer and faster forum viewing! :good:

  5. No you got me wrong... that's as far from my tastes as anything.

I linked it because of the price.

These are for super rich watch connoisseurs. They're only interested in high end JLC, Breguet, Patek, etc. Many of these people would never even look at mass produced "hillbilly luxury" watches like Rolex.

Personally, I find very few of these "super watches" very attractive. And I agree... there's a limit what makes sense (no matter how much money you have).

  6. LOL! Now why didnt you say something! I took it off sale because it was too nice to let go. A bit like that Skyland - but obviously I gave in with that one. ;)

Hey if you want to swap Romans for Batons for a period, let me know. haha BTW.....do you really need brighter steel on that?!!!

Damn... I thought you sold it. :D

To be honest, I'm very skeptical about the whole "brighter steel" claim.

The BCE is still my favourite Chronomat - traditional and sturdy looking. Attributes that don't come across with the B01.

As for the sunken date...as seen already, the DW can be raised. IMO, this would take the B01 to quite a high level of rep Breitling awesomeness!

I have a big issue with the BCE lume tabs on reps. People say v2 was the best but when I've looked at the dials I gotta say they're nothing great. Those tabs are very big and noticeable. Best rep BCE option would be the ones with Arabic/Roman numerals, imho. I saw the gen in the flesh just a while ago and the tabs were amazingly smooth. Rep tabs aren't even close.

B01 is a great rep... the more I compare it to the gen, the more I appreciate the forgery. That was the main reason I chose it. But only the black versions are good. The other dial colors seem to be off... those blue dials look NOTHING like the gen.

  7. There is no such thing as "no customs risk, guaranteed". The Netherlands customs might be very liberal or sloppy, but it's completely different elsewhere in EU. You can only speak from your OWN experiences. Consider yourself lucky.

During the 6 years I've been here I've heard of dozens of EU customs issues. Many have involved DHL, FedEx and other courier companies.

  8. I'm sitting in the same boat my friend. Can't get anything outside the EU without customs interference.

That's why it's good to have Precious Time shipping the goods from UK.

Whenever I got these letters I completely ignored them. In my country they'll keep the letter for 2 weeks and then ship it back to the sender's address. Could be the same principle in all EU countries.
