  1. How about Coldplay blatantly ripping off the sound of U2 whistling.gif

Yeah... that's really sad. Someone ripping off a medicore band like U2.

Sorry U2 fans. I never understood what's so great about them. There are many bands and artists that I don't personally like, like Bon Jovi, AC/DC, new Metallica, but I still understand the appeal. I totally do... but not U2. They're like Madonna to me... all commercial hype, no substance. And people buy it because they're sheep. And yes, I have all their early works til' "Pop".

  2. Lady Antebellum won an award of this song in the USA. Apparently she's some kind of country star over there. Usually that automatically means nobody has heard of her in the Europe. Sorry guys, nothing against country but... :D

But now there's some sort of small scandal developing as her hit single (the one that she received awards for) turned out to be a rip off of Alan Parsons Project's old song "Eye In the Sky". I'm sure many prog rock fans are familiar with APP. Great band, great albums like I Robot, Tales of Mystery and Imagination, Gaudi, Turn of a Friendly Card, etc.

Alan Parsons was also the guy who produced Pink Floyd's classic Dark Side of the Moon album.

Ripoff or not... well... you'll be the judge.

PS: Those Lady Antebellum band boys look gay. :D

  3. Now that's quite an achievement. There's about half a million reference pictures of the Submariner on the Web, and someone in China manages to create that... hmm... thing.

I guess it requires frontal lobotomy and damaged eyesight. Or alternatively very wicked sense of humor.

  4. Breitling a poor mans watch? You can say that about ever watch brand out there, depending on what your perception is. There is always some thing more expensive that will be seen by others as a poor mans watch. Guys playing in the league of $500K+ PP's think that $100K Breguets are a poor mans watch.

I agree. And Steelfish is still the best looking, coolest diver watch I've seen. Best watch Breitling ever made, imho.

I really dislike all kinds of "watch snobbery". I spotted this thread in the Breitlingsource. I simply HAD to comment as most of this bashing was just pure emotional nonsense.

  5. I was under the impression that all Breitlings are "poor man's watches". I mean, they all have cheap bulk ETAs inside (besides the new B01). Some of the models just have higher price tags... I guess that makes them more special then.

At least Boxster has the inhouse engine built by Porsche.

Watch snobbery in the replica forum = love it. :D

  6. I know it's serious, especially if you have debts. But look at the bright side... now you have more time to be with your friends and family (at least temporarily).

I've been working since I was 15. Now I'm 38 and sometimes I dream that I could take one year completely off. It'd be amazing.

I hope you'll find another job soon. All the best.

  7. You're welcome.

When I first came to TRC, I was looking for two-tone Rolex reps as well. I owned many of them.

Generally they're disappointing. What looks good in the pictures can feel flimsy, cheap and fake when you actually receive the watch. But then again the lightweight gen TT Oyster doesn't feel very sturdy, either.

Then there's the gold wearing off issue. There ARE rep TT bracelets that are decent quality but like I said it's hit and miss.

If you want a good TT rep, buy a TT Navitimer or BCE. 'Lings have much heavier and nicer bracelets and even the gens are just gold plated (believe it or not).

  8. The gold replicas are always "hit and miss". Nobody can tell from the pictures how good the plating/wrapping is.

That particular YM is not very accurate. The crystal/rehaut combo is terrible and the cyclops is positioned too right on the crystal.

I would only buy Noobfactory or WM9 modern Rolex reps. The other Chinese factories don't seem to get them even remotely correct.

Check my review section, there's plenty of stuff about gold and other reps.

    Good luck!

  9. I have a collague who really fell in love with my gen blue Fish.

First he tried to buy my watch but I'm not selling. Then this guy purchased ALL THREE COLORS brand new from the local Breitling AD.

He has black and blue on a bracelet and the white one on a brown leather strap. Apparently he was able to set up some kind of deal of them but I believe that trip still cost him way over €5K.

I saw all the packages and watches. Too bad I didn't have my camera with me. A few months ago this fellow hadn't even heard of Breitling, now he owns three.

But then again... to keep things in perspective €5K is just a price of one sports Rolex.

Early Merry Christmas for him I guess. :animal_rooster:

  10. I only wear my precious gens. Actually I abandoned all my old friends after I saved pennies for a few years & purchased my first gen and a brand new BMW 316i. I also joined the Rolex forum and got lots of soul mates. Then I started overusing words "fake", "filthy Chinese fake" and "Asian ripoff".

My biggest fear was always that someone "calls me out" one day. That would be the end... I could never again face my family and friends after that kind of brutal dishonesty. FAKE WATCH OMG... so I switched to gens.

PS: This is me. Watches are very important.

  11. It depends on the version.

Old SMP Chrono with the ETA dw is the best out there but those haven't been available in ages. It's definitely more accurate than the UPO.

The new SMP with red dial is a nice rep but not quite as accurate. But then again UPO doesn't have double AR which is a fundamental issue.

Just get the one you like more. The difference isn't that big anyway.

  12. I actually tried that watch on at the Movado factory outlet store on Saturday. They were having a 70% off sale on all Ebel watches in stock. That one was marked down to somewhere around $2200 from near $6900 but I was looking for the 1911 Discovery model which they didn't have. What a beauty.

I'd get the gen BTR over gen Discovery without any doubts. BTR has a stunning inhouse movement while Discovery sports just a simple ETA 7750.

Technically those watches don't even compare.
